Chapter 1 - A choice

I, Jake Aurun, had nothing to regret. I grew up in an orphanage, lived paycheck to paycheck, and had nothing to cling to, worked the average 9-5 in a corporate job, but the one thing I had were my looks.

A figure standing an impressive 6'2, blood red eyes, and hair white as snow. I was in good shape and worked out regularly.

I was dead. I had no idea how, but I was dead.

It all started on a cold evening, coming home from work, ready to put my feet up and enjoy some of my favourite novel. I was dreamily walking home, lost in the visualisation of relaxing when all of a sudden, a bolt of bright yellow lightning struck me. It rampaged through my body, like lava coursing through my veins. I faintly heard screaming and panic, slowly fading never to wake up.

Or so I thought. I woke in in a serene garden, with every flower you could imagine and more. The reds, yellows, oranges and pinks were beautiful, stretching as far as the eye could see. Off to the side, there was a small table with two chairs.

Being an enthusiastic webnovel reader, I knew this was the space where I would be reincarnated. Just as I thought this, the imposing figure of an old man appeared in front of me.

'Greetings, my child' He spoke 'I have made a mistake. I threw that bolt of lightning in a fit of rage'

I stood awestruck, intently watching him. 'I shall grant you five wishes and reincarnate you in an RPG-based world' He stated.

'Who are you?' I asked, 'And is there a limit to my wishes?'

'I am God, and the wish cannot be too powerful' He responded

'Okay, for my first wish, I would like a system with a shop that can buy anything, gives me quests and has a gacha system, but cannot limit or punish me. For my second, I would like to have infinite luck. For my third, I want an XP multiplier of 100. For my fourth, I want the ability to evolve my class infinitely after certain milestones. For my last, I would like the strongest bloodline.' I replied

'Your wishes are fine except for the second, the best I can do is MAX luck, which is 100000,' He boomed

'Thank you' I sincerely replied.

'Off you go' He smiled.

My world went dark. I came to, in a forest, surrounded by greenery. [Status] I said.

I marvelled at the sight before me. This was my second chance, and I would use it well. Before that, I had one more question. 'System, how do I earn more SP?'

[Host, you need to kill monsters, complete quests level up and sell items. I recommend spinning the gacha with your hundred SP]

I thanked the system, and said 'Spin the gacha'

A huge wheel appeared before me, an explosion of colours, my heart raced when I saw the jackpot [The armour of nothingness] It was black, with sleek gold lines snaking up it. It looked amazing and was incredibly powerful. As the wheel slowed down, I held my breath. It landed on [Random SSS-rank talent] I wondered what it was.

[Gacha]

I was stronger, but I wanted to be at least level 25 before going to a city.

I then set out to grind levels.

Soon after, I found another beast, a level six boar. I drew my sword, sneaking up behind it, and stabbed it in the neck.

[-90 HP (Boar)]

[80/170 HP]

It turned around attacking me so fast, I couldn't react.

[-10 HP (Jake)]

[230/240 HP]

Stabbing again, I lodged my sword in its eyeball, killing it. My arm had a long gash down the side. I was surprised it didn't hurt much.

[You have slain a boar (LV6)]

[+9000XP]

[Level up! You are now level 7]

[You can choose a class]

[Available classes:]

In my mind, there was only one way to go; mage. I was a massive fan of magic and loved the power it contained.

[Mage has been chosen]

[Fireball obtained]

[Barrier obtained]

[+5 INT]

I was excited by these. I checked when I could next evolve my class

[Class: Mage (Evolution at LV25)]

From then I decided to head to a city when I reached level 25.

***

Four days later, I landed the final blow to a [Level 20 Forest Wolf], finally levelling up to level 25.

I would have been there sooner, but the highest-level beasts I could find were level 20.

[Level 25 reached]
