Chapter 71 - Chronicle 71 ~ Hellhound (2)

Memories of a life not his own flooded Vin's mind, visions of a time long past, when the Hellhound was still a pup, playing in the fiery depths of the underworld. He saw the Hellhound's mother, a majestic creature with eyes that shone like embers, teaching her young one the ways of the hunt, the thrill of the chase, and the power of submission. Vin witnessed the Hellhound's growth, her training, and her unwavering loyalty to her pack. He saw the day she was torn from her family, forced to flee the underworld, and navigate the treacherous realms above.

The memories shifted, and Vin saw the Hellhound's struggles, her loneliness, and her unrelenting desire for connection. He felt her pain, her fear, and her deep-seated need for a master, a companion, and a friend. The visions faded, leaving Vin stunned, his hand still on the Hellhound.

Because of the incredulity of God's Eye's accuracy to judge things, he knew that these memories weren't fake, and that they had truly happened, he could sense it, the pain this Hellhound had to pass through as a cub. He felt his situation was like hers, he had probably been been living a happy life with his family a long time ago.

'We must have been happy together, never having to worry about anything' . A faint smile appeared on Vin's lips at this thought, but this smile vanished immediately after, that was because he couldn't remember any of it.

In fact, he had no recollection of all that had transpired during the first ten years of his life, each time he tried to remember it, his memories always seemed fuzzy to say, almost like something or someone had sealed or locked it away.

And each time he tried to delve deeper, his head would ache and he would become dizzy, so he stopped trying, he had just assumed that since he couldn't remember anything, it was probably because he had suffered a trauma as a child.

And seeing this Hellhound, who seemed to have faced something similar to him, a warm feeling seemed to flow through him. He suddenly felt a sense of kinship towards this mythical beast, he still didn't know what kind of bloodlines it had though as it wasn't stated in her memories.

Rather than a mutation, the wings on her back felt more like it had come from a certain bloodline within her, which would make her a type of Hybrid. But he couldn't identify what type of bloodline it was.

But if this conjecture was true then it was truly bewildering, Hellhounds didn't just have strict requirements against masters, when matting their requirements were even more stringent, they detested matting with other races, as they felt their bloodline was too noble to do so.

So he wondered what kind of noble bloodline, her father had to have had, that he was able to subdue this Hellhoundsl's mother.

A sudden thought flashed through his head at that moment, the thought of making her his contracted beast.

As Vin withdrew his hand, the Hellhound nuzzled his palm, her eyes never leaving his face. Vin smiled, feeling an unexpected sense of joy and connection. He realized that contracting a beast wasn't just about power or strength, but about building a bond, a partnership, and a friendship.

"You don't have a name do you?, how about I give you one?," Vin asked, he had only just realized it now, through glancing her memories, he realized he hadn't seen any recollection of a name somewhere.

The Hellhound nodded earnestly, her tail wagging softly, a gentle rustling sound echoing through the volcanic chamber.

And immediately Vin was struck by the contrast between the Hellhound's dark, hellish appearance and her gentle demeanor. He sensed a deep intelligence, a sharp mind, and a loyal heart beating within her chest.

And so because of this contrasting difference he came up with a name befitting of someone like her.

"Zara, from now on your name shall be Zarathustra, but Zara for short" Vin smiled as he caressed her head in fondness. The Hellhound's eyes lit up in excitement and joy, she seemed to like her new name, and she felt like she could understand why Vin had given her that name.

Vin seeing the first step had been taken care of, decided that they needed to know more about each other, since she couldn't talk just yet, he decided that the best way was to share each other's memories, by using one of God's Eye control skills.

"God's Eye ~ Soul Link"

And it definitely wasn't without reason, Vin now learning more about Zara's past, her strengths, and her weaknesses. He discovered her love for rare, exotic meats, her fondness for midnight strolls, and her passion for ancient lore.

In return, Zara learned about Vin's quiet determination, his unyielding spirit, and his unwavering commitment to his goals. She sensed the depth of his power, the complexity of his mind, and the richness of his heart.

As the sun dipped below the horizon, casting a warm orange glow over the realm, Vin and Zara found themselves at the edge of a tranquil magma lake, its surface bubbling with hidden intent. Vin turned to Zara, his eyes locking onto hers, and whispered, "Would you like to form a contract with me Zara?." Zara's response was a soft, rumbling growl, a gentle nod, and a nuzzle that spoke volumes of her devotion.

VIn stood before Zara, his eyes locked onto the Hellhound's as he began the ritual to form their bond. He raised his hands, and his voice echoed through the air as he invoked the power of the Runic symbols in faint whisper.

"Celestial Authority ~ God's Contract"

he declared, his words dripping with conviction.

'God's Contract' was a skill he had comprehend a long time ago when he was exploring the secrets of runic symbols, just like his master had said, runic symbols were a language depicted from the ancient times.

He had gotten the idea to comprehend this skill when he had acquired the skill 'Death Slave' from his God's Eye trait. He wanted to see if he could imitate the skill and comprehend it into something better.

And after a long and fruttoous time he finally came up with something, and this would be he first time he was using it.

As he spoke, a warm, violet light began to emanate from his hands, filling the air with an otherworldly energy, as a runic symbol was conjured in the air in between them taking the shape of a parchment. Zara's eyes gleamed with a fierce inner light, as if she too felt the power of the contract stirring within her.

Next, Vin defined the terms of their contract, his voice clear and concise. "We shall be bound by a contract of equality, Zara. Together, we shall explore the secrets of the ancient ones, and we shall bring ruin to those who have wronged us. You shall be my companion, my ally, and my friend. In return, I shall protect you, guide you, and help you reclaim your past."

Zara's ears perked up, as if she were savoring the words. She nodded her great head, her tail wagging in excitement.

Finally, Vin sealed the pact, using his own blood to sign the contract. He pricked his finger with a small, ornate dagger, and a single drop of blood fell onto the runic parchment. The blood seemed to shimmer, as if it were alive, and then it was absorbed into the parchment, leaving behind a glowing, crimson seal.

Zara followed suit, her own blood mingling with Vin's as she too signed the contract. The air seemed to vibrate with energy, as if the very fabric of reality was being reshaped by their bond.

With the contract sealed, Vin focused his will, enforcing the bond between them. He could feel the power of the God's Contract coursing through him, guiding him, as he ensured that the terms of their contract were upheld.

As the ritual ended, Vin felt a strange, tingling sensation, as if his soul were being bound to Zara's. He knew that their contract was more than just a simple agreement - it was a bond of equality, a bond of friendship, and a bond of destiny.

Zara, too, seemed to feel the weight of their contract. She nuzzled Vin's hand, her eyes gleaming with a deep, abiding loyalty.

Together, they stood, bound by their contract, ready to face whatever challenges lay ahead. They were no longer just a master and his beast - they were companions, allies, and friends, united in their quest for knowledge, power, and revenge.

"Not then, I guess it's time to focus on what truly brought me here" Vin stated as he turned around and looked towards a certain place in the volcanic chamber of flowing magma.

Right at the center was a different type of lake, that was yellowish brown in color, a stark contrast to the crimson hue that filled the enter third layer. This very lake was the source of the intense tingling he had been getting ever since he had stepped into this place.

Vin took a deep breath, and with slow and calculated steps, walked towards the lake, pushing against the waves of intense heat blasting at his face. With Zara following closely behind him.
