Chapter 10 - Chronicle 10 ~ Runes Master

When old Bai had said he had another reason for coming back, Vin hadn't expected much, but he certainly wasn't ready for the next words he heard.

"Vin. Would you like to become my deciple?" old Bai said with a smile on his face. This was the true reason he had come back, to take this genius under his tutelage.

Because he knew he wasn't the only one eyeing Vin at the moment, even the sect master, Dominic Dimitri had his eyes on Vin after the Staunt he pulled that day he awakened.

He came here in a rush before anyone could have a hang on him.

"old Bai, you still haven't told me why you left!" Vin said, although he was surprised at what the old man had said but he still wanted to know why he was abandoned without reason.

"To settle some old grudges. Too bad I wasn't able to though, it's just delayed for a while at most" old Bai replied

"Is your enemy that strong?, who's that? " Vin asked curiosly "For the current me, he is indeed quite troublesome, but for now there's no need to know who he is, it wouldn't do you any good." old Bai replied.

"Then the reason you want me to become your deciple, is to take revenge for you?!" Vin asked again.

"No. Even if you asked, I'd never allow you to do that, my revenge belongs to me. The reason I want you to become my deciple is for two reasons, first is to pass on my legacy to you, as for the second reason, I will only tell you when you learn what I want to teach you and achieve a desired result. So what do you say?!" old Bai stated as he stroked his beard.

"Well it's not like I can refuse anyway, after all I'm currently in need of a few guidance, besides you're the grand elder of Flaming sun sect, not to talk of the amazing status you have outside the sect, what more could I asked for" Vin said as he smiled sheepishly, "Tch*" old Bai scoffed as he rolled his eyes at his antics.

"This little one Is honored to be your deciple, please accept this humble bow. Master" Vin said seriously as he gave a deep bow to his new master.

"Good, good, good" when old Bai heard these words he was so over the moon that he stroked his beard and said good three times.

"Now then for your first lesson, tell me what you want to know about the techniques I gave you." old Bai said as he raised his chin up in a stern expression, he looked like someone who was teaching in a class.

When Vin heard this, his eyes lit up, he indeed had a few questions on these techniques like for example "What grade are those techniques at" he asked the very first question he had thought of when he cultivated them.

"Well even I don't know as I've never cultivated them, I found them at an ancient ruin many years ago, but I can tell you that they are high quality probably from the ancient era" old Bai answered.

"Ancient ruin, ancient era, huh" Vin repeated, natural he knew what these meant as he had read about them in the book titled Eridoria.

"In that case, how do I learn Sword two, there's no indication on the book" Vin asked another question that had been plaguing him, although he had some guesses, he still wanted to confirm from an expert.

"Although I didn't cultivate it, I've seen similar cases, I think it's because you haven't mastered Sword one" old Bai stated. "Hmm. Just as I guessed" Vin said "Well, there's nothing else for now as I've mostly read most of the general things I should know from Eridoria, especially the cultivation of realms and how to break through them. So I think I'm ready to learn from you now"

He quite anticipated what he'd learn from old Bai "Before I teach you anything, tell me, what kind of path are you planning to follow concerning your bloodline and elements." Old Bai asked as he kept on stroking his beards.

"Concerning my bloodline, I haven't decided anything as I don't know how to activate it yet, but for my elements, I don't think there's any technique that's good enough to control them, so instead" Vin took a deep breath at this point "Instead I'll create my own techniques suited to me alone"

"That's quite the bold claim there, arrogant even but I like it, it's good you did limit yourself to other's achievements, which means my legacy will be perfectly suited for you." old Bai was quite pleased with Vin's decision as it conformed with his own thoughts too.

"Since you've read about Eridoria, what are your thoughts on Runic symbols" old Bai asked.

"Runic Symbols"

"Yes, Runic symbols"

"Wait, master are you a rune master?" Vin eyes widened as he asked. He was truly shocked this time, Rune Cultivation was one of the most difficult path to follow, not only because of the complexity of learning then, but also because Runic symbols were difficult to conjure.

Runic symbols were said to be languages that were even as old as ancient Aramaic, each symbol was a language of its own and could contain different meanings depending on you comprehension of it.

No matter how one sees it, they were truly difficult to learn talk more of conjuring it.

"Of course I am, after all I come from a family of rune masters, it's literally in my blood " old Bai said with a smug smile on his face as he raised his fingers and casually drew a runic symbol in mid air.

He felt quite proud at that moment as he boasted of his achievements in the runic path.

" The Runic path is not so easy to follow, it takes delegence, handwork, patience and most especially comprehension. If your comprehension is not up to par don't even bother yourself, cause you're just wasting your time." old Bai explained

"Now before you even begin to learn more about Runes, you must learn something else first, ancient languages, without learning at least one ancient language, you can never learn to conjure Runes. And I have just the perfect language for you to learn " old Bai said as he handed over a booklet to Vin

" This book contains the language of the ancient Aramaic I've com in contact with and my comprehensions on it, you have to learn everything in this book and memorize them word for word, this is my first assignment to you, only after you learn them will I teach you anything else"

Vin opened the booklet and flipped through it, each word was translated so it was quite easy to understand but it would still take sometime to memorize, but clearly he didn't know much time because.....

"You have until the end of the Mortal Rankings competition to memorize the entire book" old Bai suddenly added "What, that's not enough time" Vin exclamed, the Mortal Rankings competition tool place during the day so he only had at night to study the booklet, there was no time for him to rest, it was impossible.

"I know you think it's impossible but there are no free meal in this world, of you want to achieve something, you have to struggle and strive for it, working harder than anyone else to achieve the desired results." old Bai said as he stood up and left "I'll see you after the competition, and besides, no deciple of mine will ever be mediocre, so if you don't get to the defeat the current Mortal King and become the new one, don't border looking for me" and with that he vanished.

"I have to learn ancient Aramaic within a few days while still becoming the Mortal king, seems I'll be pretty occupied during the next few days" although he said this, he wasn't discouraged at all, he was pretty confident that he could pull it off after all.

"Hehehe, master might not know this but my memory capacity is quite insane and although it's not to the point if being photographic, it's not Far off, learning the entire booklet in a few days won't be too hard " Vin said to himself.

After that he tidied up the cottage and returned to his residence in the sect, then he flipped open the book and soon became engrossed in it quickly forgetting his surroundings.

Meanwhile up in the sky above his residence, old Bai stood and watched Vin study the booklet, of course with his strength he naturally heard what Vin have proclaimed and he was quite glad, even he knew he had given his deciple a very difficult task that few could pull off.

And if his deciple could do so too, it'd sure make proud. "It seems you've made your decision about the boy" a deep voice sounded beside him as a man with bulging muscles and Flaming red hair appeared.

"Hmm. Indeed, I can only place my hope on him" old Bai replied, there was a vague fatigue in his tone, he seemed quite tired at that moment.

Dominic Dimitri stared into the distance for a while "Its about time for that place to open" he said after a while.

"Then let's go prepare" old Bai replied before the both vanished like they were never there.
