Aaron woke up to the soft glow of the morning sun streaming through the massive floor-to-ceiling windows in his new villa. He stretched lazily, the crisp sheets sliding off him as he got out of bed. The house was still quiet, a peaceful contrast to the bustling streets of Los Angeles just beyond the horizon. His mind wandered to Sophie.
They hadn't seen each other in a while, and with everything that had happened—the villa, his expanding car collection—he wanted to share it with her. He reached for his phone, his fingers tapping out a message without much thought.

He wasn't surprised when her response came quickly.
