'What are you doing now?' Celi pondered as she woke up from bed, her hair a mess and her eyes burdened with the weight of sleep.
She and Kaluar resided in the dorm of the school. The morning sun shining through the draped bright red curtains, hitting the floor like shattered glass the illuminated the room.
Kaluar worked on something at his desk, books stacked upon books, filling it to the brim. His eyes carrying the weight of his efforts throughout the sleepless nights. His bright cyan eyes dimmed as he stared down at his contraption with a hollowed smile.
'It's finally done, Celi.' He murmured, his voice losing all life.
'What's done?' She asked, a bit confused as to what he was mentioning. She jumped out of bed, landing into his red hair, peeking out just enough to see what he was making.
'Spheres? Really? that's what you've been doing all this time?'
'Not just spheres.' A devilish grin formed on the young boy's face, his hands rubbed it almost ceremoniously, his eyes glinted with mischief.
'Then what are they?' Celi pondered, a bit more interested at the promise. She leaned over to get a better look at the sphere, it's metal exterior mixed with golden designs of majestic flames flying around it's surface, the design mimicking Prospera in it's material and aesthetic.
Kaluar looked up at her, his smile only getting more tame as he begun to speak.
'They're bombs, Celi.'
Celi looked bewildered at his claims, immediately stepping back and hiding her head.
'It wont blow up will it?' Celi stuttered in his hair. Concern etched within her voice.
'That's what bombs do?' Kaluar retorted, going back to his contraption.
'I mean unexpectedly!' She responded.
'Not if it works, haha!' Kaluar laughed, clearly maddened with sleep.
'It should when i throw it though. Packing enough explosive power to blow up half of Prospera. Well one side of it anyways.' He explains tossing it up and down and catching it, clearly messing with Celi.
'Stop that!' She shouted, jumping off of his head and onto the desk. Trying to get as far away as possible.
'Quit worrying, I wont do it.' Kaluar reassured, his tired eyes gazing at his device.
'Not yet anyway..' He murmured.
'If you blow up anything im telling Fiona!' She declared, her finger pointing to the culprit.
Kaluar snapped back to reality at her claim, his hand slowly lowering the bomb with a bit of hesitancy in his voice.
'Hold on let's not get drastic-' He tried to negotiate, cold sweat beading down from his head, clasping his hands together as he begged.
'I already got chewed out by her the last time, please don't make me go through that again.' he shuddered at the talk he had with Fiona for not leaving the city, despite it not being his fault.
'Then put the bomb away.' Celi huffed, her arms crossed sternly.
'Fine, fine.' He murmured, putting his stuff away into his desk, closing it, a small gape remaining.
'There.' He announced. A knock on the door following soon after. The both of them jumped at the sudden noise their hands slightly shaking from past night's events.
'Hey Kaluar? It's me Mirai!' The voice announced on the other side. A sigh of relief erupted from them both, their hands on their chest to dwell the panging of their hearts.
'oh right school is in a few!' Kaluar exclaimed, grabbing his bag and leaving through the door.
'See you later, Celi!' He waved goodbye as the door closed with a huge thud, leaving Celi in the room, by herself.
"You look terrible," Celi heard the muffled voice of Mirai as they began to leave.
"Well, I had something I wanted to work on, haha." Kaluar's voice slowly disappeared the further they got from the door.
'Bye,' She uttered quietly as he already left in his rush to get to class.
Silence took over the room the soft sun becoming even more prominent to her gaze. She let's out a sigh, eyes darting over the cupboard.
'Well... at least it's safe there.' She thought to herself, worry still clouding her mind over the contraption. Daring not to venture close much less touch the thing.
In the midst of her worrying she yawned, sleep taking over once more as she found her way to bed yet again, finding comfort under it's lush covers that beckoned her with their comforting presence. Minutes of peaceful silence befell on her, blessing her slumber under her warm covers. The sound of scratching causing her ears to perk up in curiosity but she ignored it, but the noise persisted.
In annoyance she opened her eyes, her gaze shifting towards the desk Kaluar worked at, her eyes widened in shock and her blood ran cold when she saw it. A bluish-green squirrel twice her size, picking the ball with it's tiny paws.
'Hey there, little guy.' She cooed, her voice shaking with fear as she slowly gets out of the blankets, her hands stretched out as if to tell the thing to wait.
The squirrel scratched at the device, it's head tilting in curiosity. Celi hid behind the covers when it does her eyes riddled with fear, the scratching continued, until only silence remained. Slowly came out of her hiding spot, her eyes darting around the room to look for the creature, but it wasn't on the desk. She looked around frantically, her gaze soon landing on the window, where the squirrel already leapt out.
Celi lets out a sigh of relief, a weak smile on her face as the creature took the ball further and further away from her.
'Crisis averted.' She announced softly to herself, standing on the bed with her hands on her hips in triumph, reality soon kicking her in the teeth as she realized what had just happened.
'Hold on..' She murmured as she realized, remembering Kaluar's words from earlier. Her heart raced once more, her fingers clawing at her hair as she pondered.
'I screwed up!' She shouted, her pupils dilating with horror.
