Chapter 27 - Chapter27-Heart's Voice

[Vow of Melfis, the Dragon of Nature]

As one of the treasures on the fifth floor of the Tower in the original work, like the other three treasures, this one also amplifies the power of a single element—specifically, a 50% boost to nature magic.

However...

Playing with the fan in his hand, Owen couldn't help but chuckle hoarsely.

The first three treasures were either arm guards or staffs, or at the very least, a ring. Yet, this treasure turned out to be a fan!

Moreover, the texture suggested it was made from the scales of Melfis, roughly the size of a palm. A gentle wave of it would release the scent of flowers.

"Glena, it's yours."

"Thank you, Owen Chief."

Glena took the fan, her eyes filled with affection.

She could clearly feel the rich life force contained within the fan, which made her very happy.

It's important to note that these four treasures are genuinely master-tier treasures, even their mentors may not have such items, yet Owen didn't even take a second look before giving it away.

Oh, wait, the [Scorching Fury of Sanks the Fire Dragon] is still in Owen's possession and hasn't been handed over to Emily.

But this alone was enough to prove Owen's magnanimity.

As someone with a non-elemental mana core, he could still distribute things fairly to those in need—wasn't that enough?

"You're welcome. You're close to breaking through to diamond-tier; I'm looking forward to that day."

Speaking of the fifth floor of the Tower, in the original work, it was one of the most detailed parts, mainly to highlight John's aura, as his specialty was also fire element magic. So, many scenes focused on John.

He was shown outwitting the guardian beast, solving puzzles, and bravely seizing the treasure.

But for Owen, it wasn't so complicated.

Casually blasting the guardian beast into pieces, Owen used neutral magic to uproot the mountain hiding the treasure, easily finding the temple buried underground and obtaining the treasure effortlessly.

This was the immense power gap that could not be ignored.

"Let's all take a short break. Since entering the Tower, we haven't had any downtime, and there's still some time before the sixth-floor passage opens. We can take this opportunity to clear our thoughts."

As he spoke, Owen turned to Elaine, smiling bitterly, "I'm really sorry, Elaine. We agreed to distribute the items based on need, but we've already reached the fifth floor, and you haven't received any treasure yet."

"Oh, it's okay! It's not really suitable anyway. Fox Academy specializes in shadow magic, and the next is spellbeast taming. If we had these items, we wouldn't be able to fully utilize them. Wouldn't that be a waste?"

"Although you say that..."

"It's fine, it's fine. The fact that you think this way already makes me happy, Owen. Besides, we haven't exactly come away empty-handed—those beast cores are quite the haul too."

"That's all we can do then."

Owen nodded slightly, pretending to be somewhat helpless, but then he cast a spell, allowing Elaine to hear his inner voice.

'Thank goodness the treasure on the sixth floor is a live dragon egg. Once we get it, I'll give it to Elaine as a gift.'

Hearing this, Elaine blinked, somewhat surprised. "Owen, what did you just say?"

"Me? I didn't say anything."

"No, I clearly heard..."

Elaine trailed off, feeling puzzled.

If it wasn't her imagination, why didn't anyone else seem surprised by these words?

That was a live dragon egg! If it hatched into a legendary dragon, wouldn't that be astonishing?

Moreover, how did Owen know what was hidden on the sixth floor?

'The dragon egg is for Elaine, but if she returns to Fox Academy openly, the egg will likely be taken by her mentor, right?

That won't do, I need to think of something. Should I just have Elaine join Crossbridge Academy?

No, that won't work either. Elaine's mentor, the dean of Fox Academy, isn't a good person. He's always viewed Elaine as a tool for his twisted plans. Even if Elaine volunteered, he probably wouldn't let go.

Otherwise, why would he make Elaine the chief instead of the other diamond-tier students in the academy? There's no choice—Elaine's bloodline is too special.'

Listening to Owen's thoughts, Elaine became more and more shocked.

How could Owen know so much?

In fact, Elaine had always found it strange. Despite her talent and rank, she was not the best in the academy, yet she was the chief, which was always controversial.

And then there was the matter of her mentor.

Elaine had no concrete evidence, but she could feel her mentor's almost obsessive control over her, often scolding her for her feelings toward Owen. Now, hearing Owen's thoughts, Elaine found it even more strange.

'In any case, I can't let that scum defile Elaine. Maybe I should just kill her mentor at Fox Academy? He's just a master-tier mage, not even a sage-tier...'

Hearing Owen's impulsive thoughts, Elaine was startled.

If Owen really did that, it would be a big problem!

Thinking of this, Elaine quickly grabbed Owen's hand, softly saying, "Owen, if I wanted to transfer to Crossbridge Academy, would it be very difficult?"

"It... it might be difficult, but if you really want to transfer, I can help you."

"That's right! Owen, your mentor is the dean of Crossbridge Academy, right? I believe as long as Headmaster Catalina steps in, my mentor would relent, right?"

"That's one way to do it. I'll talk to the teacher about it later; she'd be willing to help."

To say the least, given Catalina's personality, if she got involved, the dean of Fox Academy would have to think twice.

If he refuses to negotiate, Catalina might actually go and snatch Elaine away.

'Or I could ask the teacher to kill the dean of Fox Academy. That kind of scum is useless anyway.'

At this point, Elaine panicked.

Elaine was touched by how much Owen cared about her, but she was also a bit scared of Owen's approach.

Perhaps Owen was right, her mentor was indeed using her, but at least for now, her mentor had helped her a lot. If she just let Owen kill him, she would feel guilty.

"Owen, if possible, could you ask Headmaster Catalina not to harm my mentor? After all, I'm still his student, and my mentor has helped me a lot."

"That depends on his attitude. Catalina's temper isn't great; everyone knows that. There's not much I can do."

Owen shrugged. As he spoke, a staircase appeared out of thin air before them. Owen stood up and took the lead, heading to the sixth floor of the Tower.

"So, this is the Dragon's Nest?"

Owen mused to himself as he passed through the portal and entered the sixth floor. The sight before him made Owen gasp in shock.

It was as if they had entered a forgotten primeval world. The trees on either side towered a hundred meters high, distant mountains were covered in lush greenery, and even a random weed was two or three meters tall!

It felt like they had been shrunk several times and tossed into this world where everything was enormous.

This place had once been the home of dragons, a symbol of a once-dominant species' decline.

To this day, there were almost no dragons left in the Fallen Dimension, and only here remained the last living dragon egg, which was Owen's target.

However, what concerned Owen more was that this time, it seemed all the academies had been teleported to a fixed area. Not far away, Owen saw Claire from Fenrir Academy. His team was decimated, with only two members left, and even Claire himself was injured, indicating trouble on the fifth floor.

This was convenient—Owen wouldn't have to spend time searching for Claire, as he already had an answer to Claire's previous proposal.

"Claire, does your offer still stand?"

"Of course! So, you've made up your mind?"

"Something like that, but I hope you understand, if you deceive me, the consequences will be severe."
