"No, no, stop, Anna," Diya said, trying to stop Anastasia from pulling the needle out of her hand. "You're still not okay." She held her down, preventing her from getting up. "Listen, hear me out first."
Anastasia froze as she stared sharply at Diya. "Hear you out? I thought we were friends, Diya. You had two freaking years to tell me everything…" Her voice started shaking, emotions swirling inside her. At that moment, she felt sadness because of the trust she placed in Diya, and the betrayal fueled her anger.
"No… You misunderstood this—"
"Shut up!" Anastasia cut off Daniel, who was trying to explain on behalf of his sister. "You— I shouldn't have agreed to all of this nonsense. You all made a fool out of me just because I am lower on the food chain, right?" She snickered. "What else is coming? What other things am I still in the dark about?"
