Daniel removed his suit once they were back in the elevator. "Let me send you home today. I'll ask Jayden to bring your car back later," he said, his eyes on Anastasia, who had been silently staring at him.
As soon as the elevator doors slid open, Anastasia rushed out.
"Wait… I can explain," Daniel called after her, stopping her from continued walking.
"I don't need any more explanations," she shot back, glaring at him before pausing to glance around the basement, searching for the exit.
"Come on… my car's over here," Daniel said, gently taking her hand, trying to lead her as she stood still, unwilling to move.
"I don't need any more explanations. I understand e...verything," Anastasia said, standing frozen in place. "I'm not blaming you, Daniel. But I think it's time we stop here."
"What do you mean?" Daniel asked, completely puzzled by her choice of words.
