Chapter 4 - Leveling up

Manho found himself in the town square. As he looked around, he noticed more people swarming the area. He didn't pay much attention to them, but as he was walking toward the edge of town, he overheard some players discussing something intriguing.

One player said, "Did you see the huge eye that appeared in the sky not too long ago?"

His friend replied, "Yes, I was frightened by it. I'm not the type to get scared by video games, but it felt like the fear came from my soul."

The other one added, "Yeah, people are saying on the forums that it's just the game teasing us with what it can do..."

When Manho heard these players talking, he thought, _Don't tell me it's because of me that the eye appeared in the sky?_ The more he considered it, the more convinced he became. _This legacy is more dangerous than I expected!_

Manho was already out of the town when he regained his focus. He was walking in the forest, planning to try his luck by hunting a savage-tier monster. In New Haven, there are six known tiers for monsters and beasts: basic monsters, savage monsters, feral monsters, alpha monsters, ancient monsters, and mythical monsters. There are also some special monsters that are so rare that any savage-tier monster can easily kill 20 basic-tier monsters. With each tier up, the monsters grow stronger and gain more followers. The monster Manho was searching for was a savage monkey.

As Manho walked through the forest, he heard the sounds of a fight. _From the sound of it, it's a squad of players against one monster,_ he thought. Manho sneaked behind some trees and saw six players fighting a big red monkey. There were two healers, one thief, one tank, and two mages. The entire squad was composed of beautiful girls, and Manho recognized them—they were one of the main squads of the Aurora Guild, a girls-only guild. All six girls in front of him were famous players in his past life, especially one of the mages. She used fire-type magic and went by the name Crimson Flame. She was the heir of a major corporation in the real world and the vice guild leader of the Aurora Guild.

Crimson Flame stood out with her fiery red hair, cascading in wild waves down to her mid-back, catching the light like flames. Her face was strikingly beautiful, with sharp, expressive features—high cheekbones, a delicate nose, and full lips that often twisted into a scowl. Her emerald green eyes flashed with intensity, revealing a fierce spirit within. Her fair, almost porcelain skin added to her captivating allure.

Her body was equally mesmerizing, with a slender yet athletic build, curving in all the right places. She carried herself with a confident, almost defiant posture, making her presence impossible to ignore. However, her beauty was matched by her fiery temper. She was quick to anger, with a sharp tongue that spared no one. In Manho's last life, she destroyed an entire second-rate guild because of something their guild leader said in the forums.

In New Haven, the guilds are divided into four tiers. Third-rate guilds aren't at the bottom, but they aren't great either—they only operate in one city, barely. Second-rate guilds control an entire city, first-rate guilds have multiple cities within a kingdom, and upper-class guilds control an entire kingdom. There's another tier of guilds, but that's not relevant at this moment. Manho's guild in his previous life was a third-rate guild that barely got a foothold in a city, but even so, they secured a nice life for themselves.

When Manho inspected the squad, he saw they were all Level 3, with only Crimson Flame at Level 4. They were struggling against the monster. Manho suddenly inspected the monkey and saw its stats:

### **Savage Tier Red-Skinned Monkey (Level 5)**

- **Health Points (HP):** 1500/2000

The squad's HP and mana were also low. When Crimson Flame realized they weren't going to kill the monster, she felt anger. They had found this monster by luck, and now it was going to kill them all. It was the first savage-tier monster they had ever encountered, and they were probably the first team to find one this early. While Crimson Flame was lost in her thoughts, she saw someone approaching from the bushes. It was a young man, seemingly in his twenties, with an average face. He was wearing the basic clothes of the thief class, and his dagger looked worse than a basic-tier one. The only thing special about him was his eyes, which were too calm for a normal human being.

As Manho got closer, Crimson Flame suddenly said, "Don't come any closer, or I will kill you. I know you want to steal our kill, but you can't."

The other girls, hearing her, looked at Manho with wary eyes. He was Level 5 at this stage, which they couldn't understand—they had to kill a lot of wolves just to reach Level 3, and they hadn't even logged out to rest. Yet, he was already two levels ahead of them.

When Manho heard her, he chuckled and said, "I'm not here to steal your kill. I'm here to offer my services. I'll help you kill the monster, and I'll take half of the loot and first pick from the items. What do you think?"

When they heard him, the thief girl suddenly said, "Who gave you the courage to say such a thing? Do you know who we are?"

When Manho looked at her, he remembered who she was—Calm Night, one of the few Tier 5 thieves in his past life. She was pretty famous, not just for her talent in the game, but also for her looks. She was a short girl with puppy eyes and a natural blush, but her body was another matter. Her body was curvaceous, with a particularly generous bust. She was like a pet that you needed to protect.

"Don't worry about that. If we can't kill him, we'll just retreat—you'll lose nothing," Manho reassured them.

Crimson Flame thought about it and realized it made sense. But suddenly, the tank player shouted, "I need help! I can't withstand him anymore!"

Hearing this, Crimson Flame said, "Okay, you have a deal."

When Manho heard that, he smiled, activated Stealth, and dashed toward the monster. When Crimson Flame saw that, she yelled, "Wait, he'll kill you..." but she suddenly stopped mid-sentence because of what she saw. The monkey looked in Manho's direction. In New Haven, stealth was useless against strong monsters, especially when a player got too close to them. The monkey threw a punch, but before it could hit him, Manho disappeared. He used **Void Step** to vanish and reappear behind the monkey, then suddenly slashed with his dagger, dealing massive damage.

-750 HP. Critical Strike.

When the other girls saw that, they opened their mouths in surprise. They had been fighting the monster for 30 minutes straight, and the best damage any of them had managed was Crimson Flame's -50 HP spell, which she had bought for a lot of money. When the monkey got hurt, it let out a roar, but Manho didn't stop. He dashed to its left and used **Abyssal Barrage**. Suddenly, five slashes of dark power hit the monster, dealing:

-2000 HP.

The system repeated the announcement three times. Manho leveled up two times and he distributed the Attribute Points he was saving with 8 points to his agility and the rest to the Strength . When Manho saw what he got, he felt a little guilty—he hadn't told the girls to add him to the party, so they didn't get any recognition from the system. All the girls were looking at Manho in surprise, but he was already walking toward the monster's corpse to claim the loot. When he saw what it dropped, his face lit up with excitement.
