Chapter 12 - Chapter 12 President, You Drive

That night, Zijun sat cross-legged on the sofa.

She was both dealing with some work and digesting her food. Usually, she only had a vegetable salad for dinner, but today she had eaten two bowls of rice and a lot of dishes.

However, Su Sheng had not returned home even by nine o'clock. Was this the basic familial responsibility expected of a man?

"Snap!"

Zijun threw a pillow, which landed near the entrance, as if to hit Su Sheng with it.

Well, she felt a bit better. She was about to go to rest when suddenly she received a call from her old classmate, Shu Jie.

"Zijun, we've found leads on the batch of goods stolen from your company, but we can only recover about thirty million."

"That's not bad, I had no hope of getting it back," Zijun admitted. Regaining anything was a bonus.

On the other end of the phone, Shu Jie hesitated before saying, "Zijun, you have no idea how close it was this time. Those robbers, not satisfied with just the goods, even thought about kidnapping you. Luckily, they were captured this time, otherwise you might have been in danger."

"Kidnap me? How is that possible, I'm a black belt in Taekwondo!" Zijun sniffled, but her eyes grew colder, she couldn't believe how bold those robbers were.

"Oh, keep bragging, the robbers had guns. I'm not joking, Zijun, you should be more careful these days, enhance your security," Shu Jie advised, as she didn't want to hear any bad news about her old classmate and best friend.

"Got it. Hey, Shu Jie, when can you make some time to hang out?"

"Sigh, let's talk after this busy period, I've got a new task on my hands."

They chatted a bit more and then hung up. After thinking for a while, Zijun wasn't too worried.

Despite going about alone every day, she always had bodyguards around. Just in the villa next to hers, at least twenty people were rotating to keep her safe.

By ten o'clock at night, she couldn't stay up any longer. Yet, Su Sheng still hadn't come back. Would this routine eventually wear her down? Was marriage going to be her graveyard?

The next morning, Zijun came down from upstairs and was surprised to find the pillow at the door back on the sofa, proving Su Sheng had returned home.

"Good morning!"

"You actually..."

Zijun turned around, shocked to see Su Sheng.

Had the sun risen from the west today, that he was up before eight in the morning?

And there was a change in Su Sheng's attire too. Although he still wore a simple T-shirt, jeans, and canvas shoes, at least he wasn't wearing slippers, and the only thing unchanged was his messy, long hair.

Zijun was aware, Su Sheng wasn't bad-looking, even handsome, but she had only seen this in photos.

Ever since she met Su Sheng, he had always maintained this unkempt style.

So the obvious change in Su Sheng today gave her a slight thrill, making her wonder if she was being foolish.

She had bought many clothes, pants, shoes, and bags for Su Sheng, which filled an entire walk-in wardrobe, yet he never wore them. Even today's attire wasn't her purchase, which really stung.

"What are you standing there for, let's go, aren't you supposed to be at work?"

Su Sheng actually woke up early every day, but he spent the time exercising upstairs. He lived on the third floor while Zijun lived on the second.

"Work, you mean to say you want to ride in my car to the office," Zijun was a little slow to grasp the situation.

It was true, they had never ridden in the same car before.

"Yes, why else would I stop you? As your distant relative, unfamiliar with life here, isn't it only right that you care enough to drive this relative to the office on his first day?"

Zijun was furious, her face cold as she said, "For a grown man, you really can't let go of the fact you're a distant relative, can you? How many times have you mentioned it?"

"Didn't you say I wasn't a man?" Su Sheng boldly stared at the woman's chest.

Looking at his own wife was legally protected, naturally righteous.

Zijun naturally noticed as well and instinctively placed her hands in front of her chest, cursing, "Pervert!"

"Hurry up, you drive, I'll catch some sleep," he said.

Having said that, Su Sheng led the way out of the door, while Zijun, having no choice but to follow since the car keys were still in his possession, reluctantly followed him.

But for the two of them to head to the company like this, explaining their distant relation was already difficult, what should she do now?

In the garage was a Maserati not worth more than two million, which absolutely did not match Zijun's wealth. But perhaps because the model of the car was called Maserati President, that's why she chose it!

"President!"

"What?" Zijun replied, puzzled.

"Oh, I was talking about this car, President. Drive me to the company."

Su Sheng tossed the keys over to her and carelessly pulled open the back car door, truly planning to get some sleep to store up energy. He hadn't prepared for work at all, feeling that the nine-to-five life did not fit him.

Let's just start, and if I don't like it, I'll leave.

At that moment, Zijun really wanted to shove this man out of the car; did he think she was his driver? The car is called President, and she too is a president.

In the end, the car hit the road anyway. The distance from there to the group's tower building was less than ten kilometers, which would take at most half an hour even in traffic or as little as ten minutes if quick.

Su Sheng leaned into the seat behind Zijun, but he was not really sleeping. He intentionally observed that since they'd left the home, two cars had been following them—those were Iceberg's bodyguards, whom he had already met.

Last night when he drove out in the Maserati, only one car followed him. Eventually, it seemed to realize he was not the primary target and simply turned back.

This was ridiculous, did they not see him as the man to protect?

Because of this, Su Sheng rated the capability of Iceberg's bodyguards poorly and was quite uneasy. It was a good opportunity today to check personally. His wife, he could beat or scold, but no one else should touch even a strand of her hair.

"Huh!"

After passing through an intersection, Su Sheng suddenly noticed a gray Tiguan consistently visible.

Without hesitation, his gaze penetrated the car's exterior, seeing that the driver of the Tiguan was a man wearing a cap and a mask. Looking further, beneath the mask was a youthful face, with no firearms in the car, nor even knives.

But Su Sheng instinctively felt that something was wrong, particularly after hearing that someone wanted to kidnap Iceberg. Although the three robbers had been caught, with his wife's status, it was very likely other thugs might consider kidnapping her.

At another intersection, the Tiguan inexplicably turned away, and everything seemed normal.

But, close to reaching the company, while Su Sheng was initially watching a beauty—no, should say he was civilly watching—suddenly, he spotted the same Tiguan driver, the young stranger with the youthful face, from a car nearby.

Just that this person had changed vehicles, now driving an inconspicuous domestic Changan car.

He'd bet 50 cents there definitely was an issue, and also bet that the bodyguards behind had no clue. It's a pity he wasn't driving himself because otherwise, that person wouldn't get away whether involved or not, and questioning him afterward would clarify everything.

However, now he couldn't just get out of the car publicly—it would reveal too much. After thinking, he said, "Go to the underground garage."

"Okay!"

Zijun was wondering where to park the car. If Su Sheng asked to stop in front of the office building, what should she do? She hadn't thought about heading to the underground garage, which was much better; probably no one would see them there.

The car quickly arrived at the basement.

As soon as it was parked, Su Sheng pushed the car door open with a push and quickly said, "I'm going to have breakfast, head up on your own!"

"Hey, wait..." But before Zijun could finish her sentence, he had already left.

What was this all about? None of the situations she had worried about along the way had occurred. Instead, Su Sheng ran off first; was he despising her? Could appearing at the company with her really be that embarrassing?

Suddenly, Zijun realized she knew nothing about Su Sheng.

This man, what he had been doing in the past, what he was doing now, what he wanted to do in the future, she had absolutely no idea and could not remember at all.

Shaking her head, she might have really been overthinking. Wasn't it already clear? Su Sheng was nothing but a hopeless mess, a shameless scoundrel, a pervert!
