Cole was having a fun time, laughing hard at the way they argued, it just seemed funny to him. He stood by the door behind Elvis, and the whole love tease just seemed too damn hilarious. But that happy moment for a little while. Cole felt weird as if some organs were misbehaving in him, and that made him grip his stomach.
Only Jessica noticed it, but she didn't take it seriously, The Kid is full of lots, so she ignored him. She then saw when he touched the bridge above his upper lip, wiping out the blood that drooled out, then the drop. The kid had lost his consciousness.
All of them in the room ran towards him, and seeing the way his body vibrated, it led to the question, "Is he epileptic?"
And Elvis answered immediately, "No, I doubt."
"Why do you say so?" Williams asked him.
"This kid's power is superspeed, right?"
"yes,"
"How long, or how much has he used his powers?"
Williams made sure to think carefully before giving out a reply. "Jason, can you help?"
"Well, he has used his powers more than the rest of us in here, I can say that Lily transformed once after she broke out of that tube, then now again. I doubt I'm yet to see my powers or Williams' or Olivia's. So, you can say, he has basically been doing all the jobs we had to do. And if I'm to state all the times he did, He was the one that fought against the guards that chased us, and he was sent to get Jessica too, and I also sent him to confirm if you were followed." He was too detailed.
"And, he fought off some security officers at my workplace that wanted to capture me," Jessica added. A sense of guilt built up within her.
"Oh, he also assisted in pinning you down," Williams added and Elvis immediately recalled the vibrations he felt when Cole pinned him down with his knees.
"What is he, a beast?" Elvis had to ask. "The first one was on adrenaline, which would take even almost double his strength. You should not put yourself under pressure, and you should use your powers only to a certain extent daily so that you can stay healthy. If we don't find what to do to him, he'd be dead in less than two weeks. This boy has used the power he should be using in a week in one day, that's suicide,"
"You know you're not so smart, huh, if he knew, he wouldn't have done this, and now, you talk like he intentionally planned to take his own life," Jason said from where he stood.
"So what do we do? You're the engineer," Williams said right after Jason.
"Well, there is a solution, but it's going to be difficult to accomplish"
"What is it?"
After a deep sigh, he finally decided to speak out. "Elysium…" The man in his late twenties muttered.
"What did you say?" Raising a brow, he slanted.
"It is Elysium, a substance that you all would need to survive, now that you have been partly developed into Androids,"
"I'm not following," Jason slanted forward, a scowl began to form as his brows puckered in annoyance at the absurd statement he just made.
"As I said earlier, you all are specimens, and just like most of our machines and products, which need a monthly recharge depending on the project, actually mostly in two months, you would also need to be recharged. The greenish fluid you were submerged in was sixty percent Elysium, which if the project was a success, was meant to help you out a lot." The young man paused, looked around, as if looking for Olivia, and Lily, studying his movements playfully shifted to Olivia, and smiled. She was having fun having understood the trick behind her power. Apart from hers, the rest of them had an obvious disgusted look drawn all over their faces. Elvis spoke like it was a normal thing when obviously, it was abnormal.
"So, you mean, if we all that are here right now don't get a monthly juice in our veins, we won't live"
'Hell!' Elvis thought. What a way Jason reasoned it. But it wasn't a lie. "You could say so. But, then again, you guys are underdone prototypes that haven't been perfected." He said that like they were some food.
"So..?" Jason wanted him to finish up.
"So, I doubt you all would last two weeks. No, you should last two weeks, last week that was the update given. And that explains why this lad is this way, While overheating should happen in at the earliest three weeks, his overheat is happening in just two days. I'm damn sure that if any of you don't get that shot in four days, you would also overheat, then in maybe another two to three days, you enter stage 2."
"Oh, there are stages?" Williams chipped in. The more the discussion went, the worse it got.
Elvis let out a frustrated sigh, then gave him an answer. "Yes, Four stages In total."
"Enlighten us"
"It begins with an unusual power drain, which should be easy to tell, at least, the other products did tell, with proper monitoring though, but you're humans. The kid didn't probably notice because of all the adrenaline built up in him, and the ignorance probably made him ignore it because with much work, he should definitely tell—"
"We are not here to listen to you fault our boy,"
"After the power drain, you may end up having problems moving, which gets worse and evolves to stage two, which is hallucination. Your boy here lost consciousness due to abnormal excessive work, so he didn't experience the hallucination part. But if a miracle does happen, and he wakes up without the medicine, he definitely would hallucinate. Some weeks after that, if the substance is not taken, the body starts to decay, rotting away, and the fourth stage which happens about 2 weeks after the third, is that the system shuts down, and the decay quickens, and eventually kills the subject. Take note that these are the normal case scenarios when you work at your normal pace. In you guys' case, we're talking days, not weeks."
"When do we get to the part where you go into your place of work to get the Elysium or whatever?" Jason was fed up.
