Chapter 90 - Chapter 90: The New Lord

Chen Mo didn't immediately interact with the people he had saved from the werewolves. Instead, he stood still, reflecting on the recent battle. Although the fight wasn't particularly challenging for him, it still provided some valuable insights.

Unlike in the Captain America world, where the strongest enemy he faced was the skilled swordsman Baron Strucker, the other Hydra soldiers were mere fodder, easily dispatched without any real danger or difficulty, offering little in terms of combat training.

In this world, however, the power level was clearly higher. The dozens of werewolves he encountered in the village had physical strength three to four times that of ordinary humans, surpassing even Baron Strucker in combat ability.

If three or four werewolves attacked together, even Steve would struggle to handle them without his alloy armor and Adamantium sword. And facing dozens at once would leave Steve with no choice but to flee.

During the recent battle, although Chen Mo successfully killed all the attacking werewolves, their strength and speed were formidable. Their combined assault put some pressure on him, requiring his full concentration and strength to eliminate them quickly.

Chen Mo could feel a slight improvement in his swordsmanship.

This was good news for Chen Mo. The world was teeming with werewolves, who not only reproduced rapidly but also turned their bitten or killed victims into more werewolves, maintaining their high numbers and posing a severe threat to ordinary humans.

These were just the weakest werewolves. There were undoubtedly more powerful beings in this world, and the thought excited Chen Mo.

To enhance his own strength, he needed to continually fight strong enemies. Only opponents with sufficient power could push his limits, honing his combat skills and improving his fighting abilities.

Glancing at the fallen werewolf corpses, Chen Mo's lips curled into a cold smile beneath his mask. He sheathed his sword and strode towards the eager onlookers.

After the fall of the Western Roman Empire, which had ruled most of Europe, the continent entered the dark and chaotic Middle Ages. Noble lords ruled their territories like independent kingdoms, waging wars against each other, plunging Europe into a thousand-year era of warlord strife.

The appearance of werewolves further deepened the chaos and darkness.

Werewolves frequently attacked villages, causing massive casualties even if only one appeared.

The safety of noble lords was also greatly threatened, with many being killed by large packs of werewolves, leaving their territories rivers of blood.

Werewolves became the nightmare of all humans.

Half a month ago, dozens of werewolves appeared in a baron's territory, destroying the lord's manor and several surrounding villages. Strangely, their killing spree stopped there, and the outer villages remained untouched.

Other nearby lords, hearing of the werewolf pack, gathered their armies to defend against an invasion.

After some time with no werewolf sightings, they assumed the werewolves had left and moved to claim the unoccupied land, only to find it already had a new owner.

According to the peasants, the dozens of invading werewolves were all killed by their new lord alone.

Initially, they didn't believe it, thinking the cunning new lord had lied to gain the peasants' support after the werewolves left.

But when they planned to seize the defenseless land, a shocking discovery made them reconsider.

At the edge of a village, they found a mountain of werewolf corpses, all decapitated, matching the peasants' accounts.

Clearly, the new lord had indeed killed the powerful werewolves with a single strike each. The mysterious new lord's strength was beyond imagination.

All thoughts of seizing the land vanished, and they sent gifts to acknowledge his rule.

The idea of piling werewolf corpses into a mountain was Chen Mo's. The territory's military had been decimated by the werewolves, leaving it defenseless. Chen Mo didn't want to personally fend off invaders.

The mountain of werewolf corpses was enough to deter greedy lords.

Chen Mo successfully took over the werewolf-ravaged territory.

A year passed, and the territory underwent a dramatic transformation.

With Chen Mo's powerful deterrence, neighboring lords didn't dare to covet the land.

Whenever werewolves were spotted, Chen Mo personally dealt with them. The hiding werewolves couldn't escape his keen senses, whether lone wolves or packs. Once discovered, they were doomed.

In that year, Chen Mo killed dozens of werewolves, doubling the size of the werewolf corpse mountain outside the village.

With no werewolf or external threats, the peasants' survival was secured. Chen Mo also abolished the heavy taxes they had paid to the previous lord, improving their lives significantly. The territory's spirit was revitalized, no longer filled with despair and hardship.

Chen Mo also accomplished much more that year.

First, he formed a military unit. Starting with Andrew and others he had saved, he recruited young men from nearby villages, using the resources left in the lord's manor to equip a hundred-strong territorial guard.

Andrew, with his military background, became the guard captain, responsible for daily training and combat command.

The battle in the stone house had shown Chen Mo Andrew's excellent combat leadership, making him worth cultivating.
