Chapter 42 - Chapter 42: Adamantium Alloy

Chen Mo nodded in agreement.

An excellent scientist with a super brain is like having a cheat code in a game, greatly reducing the difficulty of research. This inevitably leads to a surge of achievements, bringing significant technological changes and great progress to the world.

"So, whether it's me, S.H.I.E.L.D., or even the whole world, we should all thank you!"

Chen Mo blushed slightly at the doctor's words. "Doctor, don't say that! This is all your own achievement. You invented the serum; I just made a suggestion."

"If it weren't for you, there wouldn't be the enhanced serum, let alone today's improved serum. Without you, I might have already been killed by Hydra's spies," Dr. Erskine said with emotion. If it weren't for Chen Mo's reminder and the suggestion to fake his death, the spy who suddenly appeared during the experiment would have killed him.

The doctor was a bit emotional, recalling the changes in Howard after the enhancement and thinking about his own experience.

Chen Mo felt a bit overwhelmed. He did everything based on his own principles. Although his actions benefited the doctor and others, it was mostly for himself. The doctor's praise made him feel a bit uncomfortable.

Seeing Howard still reveling in his new abilities, Chen Mo pulled him away.

"Doctor, we'll head back now. We'll visit again another day!"

The doctor shook his head helplessly, a gentle smile appearing on his lips.

Howard, dragged away by Chen Mo, initially tried to resist, but Chen Mo's overwhelming strength easily subdued him. He had no choice but to follow Chen Mo back to the martial arts school, feeling dejected.

After that, he simply stayed at the martial arts school, pestering Chen Mo every day to teach him martial arts.

According to Dr. MacLain, the research on adamantium alloy might yield results in the short term. Meanwhile, the European war was at a stalemate, and the rebellious Hydra base had no new movements. Chen Mo decided not to rush back to Europe and leisurely waited for news from the laboratory at the martial arts school.

Having finally returned for a few peaceful days, Chen Mo couldn't stand Howard's pestering any longer and reluctantly agreed to give him "practical lessons."

Despite having a body three times stronger than an average person, Howard still suffered a lot under Chen Mo's training, getting bruised and battered every day. Fortunately, his enhanced recovery ability allowed him to be full of energy again the next day.

With his brain enhanced, Howard learned quickly and gradually managed to exchange a few moves with Chen Mo, though only when Chen Mo held back. In a real fight, he wouldn't stand a chance against Chen Mo.

On the other hand, Dr. MacLain's research progressed very smoothly.

Even without Vibranium, Dr. MacLain's ability to independently develop Alpha Alloy, which far surpassed existing alloys, was undeniable.

Now, with ample raw materials, the development of adamantium alloy progressed faster than Chen Mo had anticipated.

Although the original adamantium alloy, the material of Chen Mo's shield, couldn't be successfully replicated, Dr. MacLain still created a super alloy with slightly inferior performance but unimaginable hardness and indestructibility.

This was the true adamantium alloy, widely known in the Marvel universe!

Despite being beaten up every day, Howard still stayed at Chen Mo's martial arts school, sporting a black eye and wearing sunglasses. A few days later, he accompanied Chen Mo to the underground secret laboratory again.

In front of them was a bright silver metal shield, identical to Chen Mo's Vibranium shield.

Seeing the familiar round shield, Chen Mo and Howard exchanged glances, recalling Dr. MacLain's living room filled with round shields.

Chen Mo didn't know what to say about the doctor's habit of making shields out of precious materials.

Adamantium alloy, like the original adamantium alloy, had a common characteristic.

Initially, it remained liquid at 1500°F and could be freely processed. Once solidified, it became indestructible, even at temperatures as high as 500,000°F, without showing any signs of melting.

Therefore, once adamantium alloy was formed, its shape couldn't be changed, nor could it be destroyed by any external force, possessing the same indestructible properties as the original adamantium alloy.

This piece of adamantium alloy was once again made into a round shield by Dr. MacLain, so it can only be used as a shield and cannot be reforged.

However, this works out well, as it can be given to Steve.

Since Chen Mo took the original adamantium alloy shield that should have belonged to Steve, he needed to find him a suitable weapon.

This shield, made of true adamantium alloy, although slightly inferior to the one Chen Mo had, did not have the ability to absorb kinetic energy and nullify all attacks. However, its hard material and indestructible properties were enough to withstand all current attacks and were sufficient for use.

After all, there were no overly powerful enemies in the world at the moment. Once Steve, enhanced by the serum, had the adamantium alloy shield, he would be virtually invincible. Apart from catastrophic attacks like nuclear explosions, nothing could threaten him.

Not to mention the two's condemnation of Dr. MacLain's wasteful behavior due to his severe obsessive-compulsive disorder, after a series of tests, the adamantium alloy demonstrated performance not inferior to the original adamantium alloy. This made Chen Mo very satisfied, as he did not expect the true adamantium alloy to be developed so quickly.

Since the hardness of adamantium alloy exceeded the limits of measuring instruments, the hardness tester's indenter couldn't affect it, so the doctor conducted a straightforward live ammunition defense test.

Knives, guns, grenades, and rockets were tested one after another.

Various cold weapons' slashes and large-caliber machine gun bullets couldn't cause any damage to it.

The marks left by bullets on the surface disappeared with a wipe, and the shield's surface remained shiny and new, without a single scratch.

The close-range explosion of grenades and the bombardment of rockets only blackened its surface, without causing any deformation.

Dr. MacLain tested all the weapons he could find in the laboratory, and the adamantium alloy shield perfectly withstood all the attacks, remaining intact.

If there had been a tank in the underground laboratory, the doctor might have even tested it with an armor-piercing shell.

However, Chen Mo had no doubt that even against an armor-piercing shell, the adamantium alloy shield would easily withstand it. After all, adamantium alloy was known as the "strongest metal" that could not be destroyed even by a nuclear explosion.

However, it was still different from Chen Mo's shield.
