Chapter 155 - Chapter 154: Solar Paint Technology

Itachi and Shisui had their suspicions; they confronted Ryu without any proof.

Ryu told them, "I do not have such ability. If I had, I would be gambling and winning lotteries rather than working hard and earning it."

Shisui Uchiha replied, "Three of the best youngsters, Kenji, Akira, and Itachi, had awakened their Sharingan because of you, as if their fate is connected to yours."

Ryu replied, "I don't know about that. What I do know is that fate is a tricky thing; it's a road not taken, uncertain. And one should not leave things to fate."

"Had somebody told you you talk like an old man?" Itachi said.

Ryu replied, "I think I should leave now. If you ever need my help, never hesitate to ask."

With that, Ryu left the Uchiha leader's home and went home. The next day he was in his office in a fine suit and asked, "Gentlemen, how is the progress going? Is the proof of concept for the next-generation communication device ready?"

Masato Nakai looked at his staff, and they brought a very complex machine on a rolling cart.

Masato Nakai replied, "We have tested this device with a miniature model of a tower we built using a pole. The range is now 20 km. almost four times the radio device currently on the market."

Ryu looked at the device and then at Masato. He spoke, "This is not sufficient. We need to make this device smaller and more user-friendly. And about the range, I get that it is a prototype and a miniature model, but I won't be satisfied with anything less than 100 times the range, so don't be satisfied with a small increase of 4 times."

Masato replied, "My team tried to make it more appealing, but it was not possible for the moment; maybe in the future."

Ryu replied, "The future is now, Mr. Masato."

Ryu smiled and said, "Don't worry; I have something in mind that will help us speed up our project in the long run, but we have to divide our attention from this project for some time. One of those ideas is ready for implementation, and the other will be ready soon. Let me show you what I have been doing for the past six months."

He signalled his secretary, Ms. Friday, and she brought a piece of concrete block and a few chemicals in many buckets, each labelled differently.

"Let's begin the demonstrations," Ryu said and started painting the wall multiple times using different chemicals and used a strange device to dry the paint fast.

"Ok, it's done now," Ryu said.

"Director, Is it the device that you spoke of last time? the one that can harness the power of the sun? How does it work?" Masato, the lead researcher, asked.

"I will demonstrate first and explain later," Ryu said.

"We will need to bring it outside for demonstration. It will need sunlight for it to work," Ryu replied.

Masato looked at his staff and said, "Please help bring the device to the roof."

After that, all the main persons of the company were on the roof. Ryu took a measuring device and connected it to two bolted plates and connected them to the device. As soon as it was connected, the needle deflected the signalling potential generated on the surface of the concrete block.

Masato was very happy; he did not know how it worked yet, but he could clearly guess what it did and the potential impact of this invention on the civilisation.

Energy is always the most basic need of any developed civilisation after food and water. It also promotes the growth of other forms of technology and improves the standard of living, ensuring well-lit streets and technological advancements.

It's not just that Ryu created a solution to the energy problem, but he also made it very easy to mass implement with just painting on the surface.

The way Ryu painted it on a concrete block already gave away what he had planned to do with it. Even the most ignorant one understood that he plans to apply this method of power generation to the already-standing structure.

Without any major change, the surge of already existing buildings will generate power and light up the infrastructure.

"Do I need to explain the potential application of this to you?" Ryu asked

Masato replied, "No, you don't. But I need to know how it works. I won't be able to sleep without it."

"Far enough." That's how researchers should be, always looking for answers and explanations. Let's break it to everybody from the beginning." Ryu replied.

- [Genjutsu- Mind Palace projection] activated

It operates using a special semiconductor that produces electric potential when exposed to high-energy photons.

Masato asked, "That paint you used, was it a semiconductor?"

Ryu replied, "Yes. Actually, all the layers are different; two of them are a special liquid semiconductor. Others are insulators and conductors."

Masato said, "I think I am starting to understand how it works. You first insulated the block and drilled a conductive plate for wiring. Then you sprayed a conducting paint and made the entire surface of the block conductive."

Ryu said, "Right, the fun part began after it. I used two different types of semiconductor layers: the one on the bottom is thick, and the top one is thin and translucent. Then I used this UV device to fuse them together to generate a diffusion at the contact area. This area is where they gather photons and excite the electrons to generate the electric potential. The last layers are a transparent conductive and transparent insulating layer."

"With this, every building will generate power at least during the daytime. This product will generate profits for our other projects."

Masato said, "If it is so easy to put on any already standing structure, we can paint entire cities with it. I think we will put hydropower generators out of business."

"Not necessarily," Ryu spoke.

Masato asked, "What? Is there any problem?

Ryu replied, "You forgot it only works using sunlight, and it's not available at night."

Masato said, "Oh, right, I was so excited that I forgot."

Ryu replied, "You could be right if we can produce more energy than we can use during the day and store the rest for night."

"Is that possible?" Masato asked.

Ryu replied, "How many times are you going to ask the same question, Masato-san?"

Ryu continued, "Of course it's possible. We need to find material that can store energy that has a high energy density and is not made of expensive material so that we can implement it on a larger scale."

Ryu then looked at his secretary and said, "On that note, I gave you a task a few days back. What is your report on that front?"

The secretary replied, "I have procured a major consignment for salt and also looked into major salt-producing vendors for long-term contracts. Also, I have looked for land to set up a salt factory, but nothing good has come up so far."

"Make sure it's near Land of River, which is closest to Land of Wind. We can sell them desalinated water."

"Selling desalinated water from the sea? Is it possible?" some random employee asked.

Masato-san eyed as if someone had asked a forbidden question; the employee in question thought, "You also asked a similar question a minute ago."

Ryu answered, "Yes, it is very much possible. Converting seawater to drinkable water is not an if or how problem. It's an energy problem. And didn't we just solve our energy problem a few minutes ago?"

Masato said, "Director Ryu is right. Taking salt out of seawater requires energy. We can do that, but why buy salt?"

Just then, it clicked for him. "You want to store electricity in salt?" Masato asked in wonder.

Ryu simply smiled without responding.

Masato thought about how many more world-altering creations were happening in his mind right now.

"Are you a god?" Masato asked.

Ryu replied, "Don't be blasphemous. Beginning and End are watching you right now."

"Beginning and End? What are you saying? Masato asked.

Ryu replied, "They are the gods that I think of sometimes."

Masato said, "So you believe in two gods, representing Creation and Destruction. Quite original, like you."

Ryu replied, "I didn't say believe. Nor did I say that I pray. I said I think of them. There are other gods too, but they are inconsequential."

Masato said, "You think but do not pray? Boss, you are a strange one!! Has anyone told you ?"

Ryu replied, "Yes, many. And those two don't need anybody's prayers."

Ryu smiled and thought, 'What they want is entertainment, not prayers. Those two are celestial peepers.'

Ryu then said, "Well anyway, let's discuss how we are going to proceed from now on."

Ryu and other members engaged in an extensive discussion on the roof regarding the future plans and implications of his solar paint technology. He also talked them into setting up a manufacturing facility for its production in Leaf Village. He also instructed them to prepare for a battery manufacturing plant and look for suitable land. He summoned scrolls and self-written books that contained the semantics, diagrams, and detailed plans and handed them to Masato and told him that he would be the one to supervise the whole setup.
