Ryu stared at the audience, who were dumbstruck at his speech regarding how powerful the concept of an idea is and how important the sharing of ideas is for a civilisation.
Ryu stated, "My vision for this company is to take the next step in the sharing of ideas."
He snapped his fingers, and a short-range communication device that looked like a walkie-talkie materialised in front of them in the [Mind Palace] genjutsu world.
"You know what it is," Ryu asked.
Masato Nakai said, "This is a radio communication device."
"I built the first prototype a few years ago. This was groundbreaking at that time and made our last boss very rich."
Ryu nodded and said. "Yes, this radio communication device is groundbreaking stuff compared to the feathered alternative. It's a good tool for connecting people across short distances."
"But it has its limitations, like every device or jutsu. The primary limitation is the communication range. Second is cost. Right now your biggest customer for this product is Ninjas, right? They use it for short-range communications."
"This product was not built with the general public in mind." Masato stated.
"Why not? It was a beneficial concept." Ryu asked
Masato replied, "Yes, as you mentioned earlier, its functionality was restricted by the communication range. We could not increase it more than a 5 km radius."
Ryu smiled and said, "My vision for this company is to build a world where sharing of ideas is not limited by distance. I plan to build an infrastructure that enables real-time communication over vast distances. And I am going to make this infrastructure available to the general public. Families, businesses, governments, and ninjas—everyone will be able to use it irrespective of status."
"You are aware that a significant number of conflicts arise due to inadequate communication. Right?"
Ryu looked at Dan and asked, "Boss Grandpa, when was the last Five Kage Summit held?"
Dan replied, "I believe it was at the time of the 1st Hokage."
Ryu continued, "Never after that."
Dan replied, "No. They wouldn't want to leave behind the village and come together in an unknown territory and take a huge risk for themselves and their villages. Second Hokage, Lord Tobirama, died after signing a peace treaty in the Cloud village."
Ryu continued with his speech, "Just imagine how many wars could have been avoided if they had proper lines of communication right from the safety of their own offices."
Masato said, "You may be right. However, it is not physically possible to send communication waves from one village to another with our current technology. The distance is too large."
Ryu sighed and said, "You are a researcher, right? Masato-San? As a researcher, do you not keep challenging the limits of the current technology? Are you interested in exploring ways to conquer this limitation? I have some innovative ideas, and no, they don't involve pigeons."
Ryu's offer to share his ideas was met with an eerie silence. There was a sense of seriousness in the air as everyone eagerly awaited Ryu's idea.
He snapped his fingers, transforming the room into a scene straight out of NASA TV. The scene featured a view of Earth with the moon in orbit.
"The range of one device is 5 km. If this device possessed sufficient power, its range could potentially expand to 15 to 20 km, if not beyond." Ryu said.
Masato replied, "Indeed, this would lead to an increase in the cost of the device."
Ryu replied, "Indeed, this would significantly enhance the device's capabilities. We don't need to worry about the cost at this stage. We should focus more on determining the feasibility of the project. How to bring down the cost should be our secondary thoughts."
"Now where was I? Ryu said and pointed to the image of the planet, and it zoomed in, stopping on a country. The Fire Nation.
"Now let's assume the range of two devices is, let's say, 5 km, assuming that we failed to increase its range. Then how do we circumvent this range problem?" He asked his audience.
Everyone started discussing among themselves, looking at the image in front of them.
Ryu waited for ideas and then started speaking, "What if we introduce a third device that can act as a communication relay? What happens then?
The genjutsu image modified as Ryu spoke, and a new device appeared in the image.
"By introducing a third device as a communication relay, we can extend the range of the devices beyond the initial 5 km limit," Ryu explained to his audience.
He continued, "Why stop at one? If we could possibly form a cluster of such communication devices, each doubling as a communication relay node. Then it could solve our range problem."
Everyone was amazed at what they were looking at, and the group nodded in agreement, realising the potential solution to their range problem. Masato Nakai was also looking at the visuals with his eyes wide open.
Masato replied, "This method could solve the problem for some distance, but at very long distances there would still be gaps and dead zones in coverage. There are other limitations also, like building the device with such complexity."
Ryu replied, "I know, then how about we add something called towers, that are very large and emit powerful and long-distance communication signals."
Masato Nakai's eyes popped out of his skull hearing this. He thought, "Did this kid just solve our range problem just like that?"
"We can effectively communicate between countries if we can build something like that." Masato Nakai said.
"Yes, we could, or we could go one step beyond," Ryu smiled like a god of mischief.
"How about we launch artificial devices in the sky and have them orbit the planets, and all these towers are also connected to those devices?"
Ryu formed a genjutsu image of a plant and geostationary communication satellite with dotted lines connecting them, representing a connection.
"This way, we can establish a global network that can transmit information instantaneously."
Everyone was lost for words as they watched the visual change to a cluster of satellites over Earth and imaginary lines of signals connecting to the symbolic towers on Earth. No one could think for a few moments, especially the research team.
Masato Nakai said, "This is..."
Ryu completed his sentence and said, "Revolutionary, I know."
Everyone was silent for some time again, and then Dan broke the silence.
He asked, "Masato-san, is this idea feasible?"
Masato Nakai replied, "Theoretically yes. If we could achieve that, then the range of communication could be expanded anywhere we want to very easily."
"But," he continued, "the sky devices he spoke of are very tricky to really build. and even if we could build them, they would weigh tonnes. How could we launch it so far into the orbit that it wouldn't fall?"
Ryu interrupted, "Boss Grandpa, what is the weight of the summoning scroll?"
Dan replied, "It's more than half a kilo for a small scroll. You could make it bigger and potentially store bigger objects. Even then, its weight should be less than 10 kilos for a king-size scroll."
"Does that answer your question, Masato Nakai?" Ryu said.
"Yes, but who will be there to summon from the scroll?" sair Masato Nakai
Ryu spoke, "That's not the problem for you to worry about."
He looked at his grandfather and continued after a pause, "That's a problem for your new boss, who is also a fuinjutsu master."
Dan's eyes twitched when he heard that, "This brat. He is so good at inspiring people. And lying to them too."
Masato said, "Even then, there are so many problems to consider. power source, a powerful computing unit to handle so many devices, and, most importantly, money."
Ryu replied, "We can build it in a stepwise manner, starting with a singular small tower and expanding from there. I have a tonne of ideas and solutions for every problem you have presented and will present in the future."
"And for the money," he said, looking at his grandfather.
Dan replied, "Money will not be an issue. This project is the dream of my dear grandson. I will fund this project and all other projects of this company myself."
"Other projects," Masato Nakai thought. "I don't think we will find time to even breathe if we want to build this project in our lifetime."
"Yes," other projects, "we need money for this project and others. I have many smaller projects in mind that we can finish without much effort and earn some money. Most of them also solve the smaller problems in this communication project."
"This kid," Masato Nakai thought, "not only did he have such an out-of-the-world idea, but he also thought of potential problems with it and thought of how to solve them. This kid is truly a genius."
"So what do you say, Masato Nakai? Ready to take the next step toward the evolution of mankind." Ryu asked.
