"Why what? Why I didn't tell you about my personal life? You're smarter than this, Clarissa." Liam said. Even the way he pronounced her name had a taste of bitterness in it, or a certain kind of hatred.
"You and I were just colleagues and not lovers so I don't feel I was obligated to tell you about my business?" Liam said.
Clarissa stood still, recalculating in her head over and over as to why Liam would start their conversation with such formality. "We were friends." She said at last. "At least I thought so."
Liam tilted his head slightly as if to get a better look at her, and she did not like how uncomfortable he was starting to make her feel.
"How is it my fault that you miscalculated?" He said.
"Liam!" Her tone was firm and tough. "What is going on? What deal did you make with your grandpa? Why am I getting involved in your family drama then?"
