Chapter 2 - Codaire household

Nathan approached the window as the rays of light bombarded him. He closed his eyes and slowly opened them, noticing the slight red hue in his hair. It looked crimson in the areas where the light fell and black in the places absent of light.

He reached out, touching the mirror before pulling his hand back up to his face, slightly pinching it to confirm whether this was real or not.

'Yep, definitely real.'

Nathan reached up, touching the horns on his head. They were smooth and firm, apparently filled with nerves, as Nathan could feel every touch on them. He took further note of his eyes and facial features before nodding slightly.

''Yep, I'm hot... yay!'

---

Nathan's head was now filled to the brim with the memories of the person—or in this case, demon—he had transmigrated into. At first, they were small fragments of insignificant little moments until the memories rushed into his head like a broken dam filling a full river, causing a flood.

Nathan sat down, sweat slowly dripping off his face as he spoke in a tired tone.

"So... my name is Ceil, and I'm a demon of the household."

Nathan lay down on his bed again and fell asleep almost instantly, exhausted from sorting through all the memories.

---

*Thud, thud, thud.*

Nathan raised his head at the sound of someone hitting the door as if trying to break it down. He groaned with familiarity for some reason as the sounds stopped. Nathan rested his head until he heard the door being flung wide open as someone kicked it in.

"CEIL! WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING? WAKE UP!"

Nathan raised his head, seeing a girl of short and modest stature with brown hair reaching down her back. She had red eyes identical to Nathan's new body. She wore a black military outfit with golden shoulder pads and black horns jutting out from the top of her head. After a moment, Nathan spoke in a low tone.

"Good morrow, Cassie."

The girl was Cassandra, Ceil's hot-headed younger sister.

Cassandra put her hands on her chest and thrust them out as she spoke in a high and mighty tone.

"Address me with more tact! You're talking to the apprentice of one of the 11 demon commanders, Cassandra Codaire!"

Nathan took a moment to remember what Ceil would say in this situation. He raised his head, rubbing his eyes as he spoke with a slight chuckle.

"Not in a million years."

The moment he said that, Cassandra shot him a glare before speaking in a nonchalant tone as she flipped her hair.

"Get cleaned up and dress yourself. Father wants everyone for breakfast since our eldest brother is showing up."

Nathan took a moment to yawn before speaking in a slightly more comfortable tone.

"As you wish... commander."

Satisfied, Cassandra bolted out of the room, her saber shaking on her hips. Nathan got up and breathed a sigh of relief.

'I want an Oscar... NOW!'

Nathan dragged himself to the bathroom as various demon servants took off his clothes. For some reason, he didn't feel shy or even dislike it, nor did he love it. It seemed like routine.

'These demons must have seen me naked countless times. To them, I'm probably still the same kid who would throw a tantrum because he didn't want to bathe... eh? I guess I did do that.'

Nathan slowly sank into the bath, taking note of the dark clouds in the sky.

'Guess I am a demon now. Thankfully, I still have memories of who Ceil used to be. I should probably look for a way back... or should I? Heh, I don't even know anymore. But one thing's for certain: things are going to be far from normal from now on. I guess I should get used to this life, though I don't even know where to start.'

Nathan raised himself from the tub after a few minutes of pondering, the hot water sliding off his body as steam radiated from it. He took a towel from the servants and wiped himself.

'The first step would be accepting that I am Ceil.'

Ceil threw the blanket onto the floor out of habit before putting on a bathrobe. He headed for his closet and picked out normal clothes—a white shirt and black pants with a black belt. He decided to keep his hair messy, as it always was in his memories.

He walked up to the door of his room.

'Time to face the music, then.'

Ceil opened the door, and his leg was instantly attacked and smothered by a ferocious softness. He looked down to see a ball of white fur that looked like a rabbit with white, ball-like fur. Ceil remembered that these creatures were called Caiths and were quite ferocious when angered; however, this one had been in the family for years.

Ceil reached down and picked it up as it curled against his chest. He walked down the halls of the manor and down a staircase, glancing at the massive window showing the solitary sun, which was in contrast to the three moons he had seen before.

Ceil rubbed the fur on the creature's body as he approached the large door of the dining room. He took a deep breath before reaching out to open the door.
