The innkeeper led them to a smaller, quieter room at the far end of the corridor. The air was still, a stark contrast to the tension-laden corridors they had walked through. As he turned to face them, his thin lips spread into a wide, unsettling smile. "Rest assured," he murmured, "no spirits will disturb you here. Sleep well."
And with that, he vanished, fading into the darkness so completely it was as if he had never been there.
Gray exhaled, shoulders finally relaxing a bit as he glanced around the room. The wooden walls were bare, the lone window cloaked in shadow, but at least there were no odd scratches or eerie shadows waiting to pounce. "Well, at least no unknown entities should bother us here… I hope."
Vanisa let out a small sigh, slumping slightly against the wall, her green eyes scanning the room suspiciously. "I still don't trust him… or this room." Her voice was small, a lingering unease coloring her tone.
