He suddenly see something unusual clearly Gray raced down the hallway, his pulse thrumming with urgency. Ahead, shrouded in the dim light, he saw it—a dark figure hovering just outside the girls' door, as if waiting, its form shifting and writhing like living smoke. His heart surged with both fear and fury.
"Get away from my companions!" Gray shouted, his voice echoing down the corridor as he tightened his grip on his spear. Summoning every ounce of strength, he charged forward, lifting his weapon as the figure twisted in his direction, its shadowy face unreadable.
"Haaaaa!" Gray shouted, plunging his spear forward in a swift, powerful motion. The tip struck true, slicing into the figure's form, but instead of resistance, it dissipated, melting into a cloud of black mist that curled and vanished into the air. Gray's spear cut only smoke, leaving him standing in the darkness, breathing heavily, the silence settling in like a shroud.
