Luffy paused at the edge of the entrance, glancing back at Rayleigh. His brows furrowed as he searched for an answer.
This wasn't just some casual question.
Rayleigh had that look in his eyes—the one that made Luffy feel like every thought in his head was being picked apart. He could feel the weight of the question, the gravity of it, but in that moment, Luffy decided he wasn't going to fake it. He wasn't going to give a half-hearted response.
For a second, he closed his eyes and dug deep, trying to uncover the truth inside himself. He could feel the original Luffy—the Luffy who was destined for greatness, who would become the Pirate King, a title he didn't care about before. But now, now him, the new Luffy had seen the truth, his perspective had changed. He wasn't in this to rule. He wasn't in this to become some legend or king.
Rayleigh noticed the boy's intense focus, his mind working behind those wide eyes. The way Luffy's expression shifted, the little smile that appeared—it was a smile of someone who had experienced the rawness of life, someone who'd seen both the highs and lows and chosen to value the simplest of things: freedom.
Luffy opened his eyes and, without hesitation, flashed that trademark grin. "I don't want to rule anything. I just want to be free!"
Rayleigh blinked, his expression flickering with surprise, then nostalgia. He let out a deep sigh, one that seemed to carry years of memory with it. He could see it now—the shadow of his old captain in this boy.
The same rebellious fire.
The same hunger for freedom.
The words seemed to linger in the air between them, and for a moment, Rayleigh almost looked like he was lost in thought. "Hoh... Is that so?"
His voice was gentle but held an edge, a quiet understanding that only came from years of seeing the same kind of spirit in others. "You know, your words... they remind me of someone."
Luffy's grin widened, but there was something bittersweet in his eyes. He'd heard stories about Gol D. Roger, but he never really understood the weight of those stories.
Now, standing in front of Rayleigh, hearing him speak like this, Luffy couldn't help but feel the full impact of his words.
"Well, if you decide to become a pirate, I'll be cheering you on," Rayleigh said, his voice taking on a playful tone. "You'll be one to watch, kid."
Shakki, who had been quietly watching the exchange, let out a small laugh. "You always were a softie, Rayleigh." She shook her head but smiled warmly at Luffy. "I like this kid. He's got something special."
Luffy turned to her with a wink, his playful demeanor never changing. "Then I'll leave these three in your care. Goodbye!"
Rayleigh raised an eyebrow, but before he could comment further, Luffy was already stepping away, heading out.
Boa Hancock, who had been quietly observing him from the corner of her eye, felt her breath catch in her throat as she watched him leave. There was something about him—something undeniably magnetic. She couldn't explain it, but Luffy had a way of drawing attention, of making even the most hardened hearts soften, if only for a moment.
Luffy, however, was blissfully unaware of the thoughts swirling around her head. He walked out of the bar before he warped himself and appeared at the cost. He then glanced at the Sabaody Archipelago for one last time before he jumped in the air and took out, using small-distance teleportation to cover the distance as quickly as possible.
Ding!
The system's notification caught his attention, dragging him back to reality. His expression shifted from carefree to intense curiosity as he scanned the message.
[The Special Quest is cleared. The Hidden reward is revealed.]
[You also cleared the hidden achievement 'Impressing a Legendary Pirate'. Additional reward will be given...]
[The Reward has been enhanced and you receive...]
Luffy's eyes brightened, but as the reward popped up in front of him, his excitement turned to confusion. His face scrunched up in a mix of disbelief and frustration.
What the hell is this?
He was so shocked that he almost lost his balance and crashed into the sea.
Luffy ran his fingers through his hair, staring at the notification. This can't be right. What kind of reward is this?
He couldn't help but sigh. The system had a way of giving him rewards that were never quite what he expected.
Perverted gift? Is this some kind of joke?
His thoughts were interrupted by a shout from one of the sailors.
"We're here!"
Luffy was still wondering what type of mistake he really committed to actually receive such a perverted gift from the system.
Yes, Luffy was interested in the girls and women of the One Piece world but that did not mean that he just wanted to get involved with every woman that he would meet in his journey.
Because Incubus King's physique provided Luffy with an overflowing charm that could attract the attention of all the women. Not only that but his body excreted a smell that excited all the human females, no matter the age.
Any woman who would get close to him might lose herself and even attack him in heat.
Luffy could not help but sigh every time he thought of that. He shook his head to clear the fog. He quickly ran to the edge of the ship to peer at the island in the distance.
His home.
Dawn Island.
The sight of it filled him with a sense of nostalgia. It was the island he'd grown up on, where everything had begun.
It was also where Ace was hiding.
His thoughts immediately turned to his brother, the brother who had been left behind in this world. There was so much he still wanted to do, so much to explore here.
Luffy had some plans to go and meet Ace before the event where Garp took Luffy to the bandit hideout.
Luffy also wanted to explore this island. Who knew maybe he would find something unexpected. He grinned as he looked at the island where the Goa Kingdom was situated with fiery eyes.
Finally, after a few minutes, the boat finally stopped at the port, and the stairs were lowered by the sailors.
"Bwahaha! Let's go, brat!" Garp chuckled, patting Luffy hard on the back, almost sending him tumbling.
Luffy shot his grandfather a playful glare before hurrying to keep up with him. He took a deep breath of the fresh air to clear his mind and glanced at his status for one last time

"What are you waiting for? Do you not want to leave Grandpa so much?" Garp glanced at his grandson with a proud expression and laughed.
Luffy rolled his eyes at his grandpa's words and quickly followed the old man, getting off the dog head figure-headed warship.
The pair of them made their way through the bustling streets of the village.
Luffy couldn't help but notice how much attention Garp was getting. People were waving, and shouting greetings, clearly showing their respect for the legendary Marine hero.
But when their eyes landed on Luffy, their faces showed a mix of confusion and curiosity. They hadn't seen him in over a year, and the mystery of his sudden disappearance was still fresh in their minds.
One woman, her brow furrowed with concern, asked, "Garp-san, where is Luffy? I've been worried for him."
Her voice carried a sense of warmth and care, and Luffy immediately recognized her. It was Makino, the kind woman who had always taken care of him when he was a kid. She was one of the few people who had always looked out for him.
Seeing her now brought a strange sense of comfort, and Luffy gave her a wave.
Garp, in his usual loud and boisterous fashion, laughed heartily. "Bwahahaha! Don't worry, Makino! My grandson's tougher than he looks! How could something happen to him with me around?"
He pounded his chest with pride.
Hearing his words caused a sense of relief to appear on the anxious faces of everyone, especially Makino who was like a big sister figure to Luffy.
The crowd laughed along with him, but Makino still looked concerned. "But... where is he? We haven't seen him for so long..."
