Not only did they expand their territory. They also widen their resources more than they ever have building several arc furnaces on several molten worlds, making the mineral output beyond crazy, making it to where half the planets they have into forge worlds to keep producing the alloys required to build more drones,more starships and star bases.
Not only that for every world they took, was slowly transformed into a mechanical utopia, the NEX Ideal mechanical society, where there were two types of classes, the drones, which were mindless workers in the leaders, which took up more important tasks, and had actual intelligence and personality, and very recently was upgraded with emotion software upgrade, which allowed every leader NEX to experience what it is to feel emotion, such as fear, anger love someone and so forth this opened many different doors for the leaders AIs of the NEX.
With this software upgrade, it gave more meaning in color to the universe instead of cold, hard logic. All the time granted, many important decisions are based on coldhearted logic, but many of the AI leaders see the advantage of having emotions.
Combinatrix the one that had created the software upgrade, was very pleased with the results, since it was based off of his own now dampening emotions because of his machine logic, but he could still feel emotion.
In the beginning, he didn't notice it, but later on as years rode by he started to notice that his mechanical logic dampening his emotions,which to him makes a whole lot of sense since he is now a machine he should've expected such an outcome, but what can you do? You gotta deal with the hand that you're dealt.
Other than that Combinatrix and his NEX as well made a breakthrough through hyperlink Bridgepoint technology, which is basically an upgrade to the hyperlink drives, or commonly known as hyperdrive.
With his upgraded version, they will have to use far less energy to breach their way into the hyper Lane which is a massive improvement over the original model.
Not only did technology progress, so did their discoveries of lost civilizations several promising others were not several artifacts were uncovered, but they were nothing special the best they were to be a set of museum pieces.
However, one site above the others were very promising so much so we discovered never before seen war ship designs.
Analyzing the crash ship that was uncovered on one of there moons while the alien crew were naturally dead, and became skeletons, their corpses were sent to the lab to analyze, even though they were just a bunch of bones.
However, that was not the interesting bit. The interesting thing was this alien ship was clearly far more technologically advanced then the NEX warships however, that only apply to everything, but the shields for some strange reason the shields were designed to trigger against kinetic attacks.
