Chapter 71 - The night can be a battlefield too

Night had settled over the village, and the sounds of distant laughter and celebration had died down, after all the people had to work tomorrow on their daily chores, or at least try after drinking so much. The room was quiet now, except for the faint creaking of the house's wooden structure and the soft rustling of sheets as Fuwa moved from one side to another, she was very valiant to take this first step, but now she was panicking.

Fuwa lay in the bed, her heart still racing from the kiss she'd impulsively given Raven. Every time she closed her eyes, she could still feel the lingering warmth of Raven's lips on hers. What had come over her? Kissing Raven like that, after all the tension between them, was bold and reckless. She wasn't usually this... impulsive. The realization of how close they'd come to a completely different kind of confrontation made her head spin.

'W-W-What the hell did I do!?' Fuwa panicked inside her mind as everything spun around her.

On the couch, Raven lay sprawled out, her tail flicking lazily back and forth. Sleep eluded her too, as she stared at the rooftop, her mind replaying the kiss over and over. It had caught her off guard, sure, but what surprised her most was how much she liked it... how much she wanted more. The kiss had been passionate, and raw, and it left her wanting to close the gap between them again. But now, the room was filled with an awkward silence, and neither of them knew how to break it.

'Stupid Fuwa stealing my chance to shine... I took too much time! Damn!' Thought Raven.

Raven's ears twitched as she turned on her side, peeking over at Fuwa, who was rigidly staring up at the ceiling. The tension was still thick, but it wasn't the kind of tension they were used to. It was something else... not like Raven was a saint or something, but for some reason it made her feel like a silly virgin all over again when it was about Fuwa.

Suddenly, muffled giggling and a soft thump came from the other room. Both Fuwa and Raven froze in place.

"Do you hear that?" Raven whispered, her ears perking up.

"Shhhh!" Said Fuwa panicking.

Fuwa's face flushed as she realized what it was. More giggles, and then a faint, unmistakable sound of Minato laughing along with Mia and Sophia.

Raven smirked, her sharp hearing picking up even more of the muffled sounds of the trio's fun in the next room. She rolled onto her stomach, resting her chin in her hands as she glanced at Fuwa. "Looks like someone's having a good time," she teased, her voice low and mischievous.

Fuwa's face turned a deep shade of crimson, her mind racing with all sorts of inappropriate thoughts. "R-Raven, don't" she muttered, feeling embarrassed and frustrated. She sat up, pulling the blanket over her head, trying to block out the sounds.

"What? Looks like some people know how to have fun" Said Raven looking at Fuwa teasing her with a wide grin, but speaking in hushed tones "And they are not being subtle at all, don't you think is funny?"

"Not really" Fuwa grumbled from under the blanket, trying to will the sounds away. She wasn't prepared to deal with this... she was still reeling from the kiss, and now this?

Raven slid off the couch and padded over to the bed, her cat-like grace making her movements silent as she leaned over Fuwa, a smirk playing on her lips "You know, if you wanted, we could always..."

"Don't even think about finishing that sentence" Fuwa shot back, pulling the blanket down just enough to glare at Raven, though her face was still bright red.

"Why?" She said with a mocking smile on her face she was having the time of her life right now.

"I will kill you!" She said jumping on top of Raven and pressing her under her body against the bed.

"Kyaaa~!" Raven girly screamed "Not so rough Fuwa~!"

Fuwa's heart was still pounding as she lay atop Raven, her body pressing the mischievous cat girl into the bed. The muffled giggles and laughter from the other room, where Minato, Mia, and Sophia were clearly having way too much fun, continued unabated, adding a maddening backdrop to the tension between the two of them.

Raven, pinned beneath Fuwa, was in her element. Her tail flicked lazily as she gazed up at Fuwa, a teasing smirk curling her lips, she had a great idea "You know" Raven purred, her golden eyes sparkling with mischief "They're really not being subtle at all. You think they're... practicing for something?"

Fuwa flushed deeper, her red eyes wide with embarrassment as the noises continued. She tightened her grip on the bedcovers on either side of Raven's head, trying to ignore the suggestive sounds from the other room "Raven, I swear, stop it!" she hissed, her voice full of exasperation 'Damn it Minato! You are going to pay for this!'

"Oh, come on, Fuwa. Don't pretend you're not hearing it too" Raven teased, her tone low and playful. "It's kind of hard to ignore. They're really going at it... you sure we shouldn't do something to drown it out?" Her voice dropped even lower, her teasing smile widening. "We could make our own fun~"

"Raven!!" Fuwa's voice was strangled with embarrassment and frustration, her face burning as Raven's words sank in. The cat girl always knew exactly how to push her buttons, and right now, with all the tension from their earlier kiss still crackling between them, it was too much.

With a growl of frustration, Fuwa leaned forward, pressing her weight down on Raven to try to shut her up. But Raven just grinned wider, loving every second of Fuwa's flustered state "What's the matter, Fuwa? Don't tell me you're shy all of a sudden"

Fuwa couldn't take it anymore "You're impossible!" she snapped, and in a sudden burst of movement, she rolled them both over, trying to wrestle Raven into submission. She thought that maybe if she could just get the upper hand... physically, at least... Raven would finally stop teasing her. With each movement, the bed crackled under them.

But Raven was quick, her lithe body moving with cat-like grace. As Fuwa tried to pin her again, Raven slipped out of her grasp, flipping them over so she was the one on top now "Oho~? Now who's getting rough?" Raven teased, straddling Fuwa's waist and leaning down, her face dangerously close to Fuwa's.

"You...!" Fuwa smiled as she slowly felt the challenge, they continued to wrestle in the bed and laugh as they were at it, it was so stupid, so damn idiotic, but even so, there was this palpable tension between them, and hearing the other guys now louder than ever didn't help one bit.

Raven let out a breathless laugh as they wrestled, her tail swishing around as she wrapped an arm around Fuwa's waist to try and gain the upper hand again "You're just mad because I'm winning~" she teased, though her own breathing was a bit uneven now. The closeness between them, the tension from earlier... it was all mixing together, and neither of them could deny it anymore.

Fuwa, feeling Raven's arm around her, suddenly found herself a little too aware of the situation. The wrestling had brought them even closer, their bodies pressed tightly together. The sounds from the other room seemed to grow louder, and more suggestive, and Fuwa couldn't take it anymore.

"Raven, you idiot!" She snapped, her voice shaking as she pushed Raven down once more, pinning her to the mattress. But this time, she didn't try to wrestle her way out of it. She just stayed there, her breath coming in short, ragged bursts as she stared down at Raven, her body trembling slightly.

Raven, who had been ready with another teasing comment, stopped when she saw the look in Fuwa's eyes. The usual fire, the determination, was still there, but it was tempered by something else. Something softer, more vulnerable.

For a moment, the room was silent, the only sound between them was their labored breathing and the not-faint-at-all, noises from the other room. Neither of them moved, the weight of the moment settling over them like a blanket.

"Raven I don't know how you are capable of making me feel like this" Fuwa whispered finally, her voice barely audible as she stared down at Raven.

Raven's smirk faded, her golden eyes softening as she reached up, gently brushing a strand of blue hair from Fuwa's face "Maybe because you like me more than you're willing to admit" Raven murmured, her voice surprisingly tender.

Fuwa's eyes widened, but she didn't pull away. Instead, she found herself leaning in, her forehead resting gently against Raven's as they both caught their breath. The tension between them had shifted again, from playful to something more serious, more real.

"I hate you" Fuwa mumbled, though her tone lacked any real conviction.

Raven chuckled softly, her fingers still lightly playing with Fuwa's hair "No, you don't" she whispered back.

Fuwa closed her eyes, taking a deep breath as the last of her resistance melted away "Shut up, Raven" she muttered, but this time, there was no bite to her words.

And for once, Raven did shut up. But with a happy and confident smile on her face, she had achieved her goal, that night she slept in the same bed as Fuwa, and that was enough for her, once day Fuwa would feel secure and ready, and then they would have all the fun in the world.

'But until then... my Fuwa... have the best dreams' She said as she closed her eyes too.
