Chapter 69 - Chapter 69: Articuno

Inside the Hall of Fame.

Dylan stood in front of a computer, with images of various Pokémon displayed on the screen.

Articuno, Zapdos, Meowscarada, Dragonair, Incineroar, and Glimmet—a total of six Pokémon.

Moltres, however, had been stored away by Dylan. Although Moltres was good, Dylan hadn't planned to take it with him from the start.

But Articuno and Zapdos...

'Ding~ Congratulations, Host, for becoming the Kanto Region Champion and entering the Kanto Hall of Fame for the first time.'

'The Host may choose one Pokémon from the Champion team to materialize.'

The system's light screen appeared in front of Dylan as expected.

"In terms of strength, Zapdos is definitely better."

Dylan ignored the light screen, his gaze shifting back and forth between Zapdos and Articuno.

It was a tough decision. Dylan knew very well that in terms of pure strength, Zapdos was certainly stronger than Articuno.

With excellent special attack and speed, and a Flying + Electric type combination that offers better resistances than Articuno's Flying + Ice, especially since Articuno has the fatal weakness of being four times weak to Rock.

But Articuno is an Ice type!

"Building a Hail team to take on Lance is essential." Dylan pondered for a moment, his gaze finally settling on Articuno.

Articuno's strength was decent enough, being one of the more capable Ice-type Pokémon.

Against Lance, a Hail team was definitely the best choice.

The main issue was that Dylan didn't know the exact composition of Lance's current team, but no matter what, a Hail team would be the right match against Lance.

"I'll look for the other three legendary birds in reality later. No, wait, if we follow the special storyline, Team Rocket will capture the three legendary birds eventually. I can just take them from there."

Dylan suddenly thought of this. After all, Team Rocket was bound to be defeated sooner or later, so why not take the three legendary birds?

I should keep an eye on the clashes between Team Rocket and the Pokémon League; they're bound to have a final showdown.

"System, I choose Articuno."

"Host has chosen Articuno, do you confirm?"

"Confirm."

"Selection successful. The Host may now take Articuno out of the Growth Simulation."

The system's light screen flickered quickly.

"The Kanto Region has been cleared. The Host may choose to go to other regions and can return to the Kanto Region at any time."

"Finally, a new map is unlocked." Dylan opened the options for other regions.

Johto, Hoenn, Sinnoh, Unova, Kalos, Alola, Galar, Paldea.

Since becoming a Champion and entering the Hall of Fame allows you to bring a Pokémon into the real world, there's no doubt that it's best to choose a region where you can capture a legendary Pokémon before becoming Champion.

"Sinnoh is good, the Arceus isn't a joke, but..."

Dylan's gaze hesitated between Alola and Galar.

In Alola, he could get Necrozma; in Galar, he could get Eternatus.

There's no doubt that these two regions offer the best value.

Whether it's Ultra Necrozma or Eternamax Eternatus, both are top-tier legendaries!

If he could obtain either of these legendary Pokémon, wouldn't this world be at Dylan's mercy?

The world is too small for me to conquer alone!

But actually, Sinnoh might be the best choice. Why? Because Sinnoh has Arceus!

However, to obtain Arceus, you need the Azure Flute, which isn't available in the Diamond/Pearl/Platinum versions.

In the remakes, Brilliant Diamond/Shining Pearl, you can get the Azure Flute, but only if you have a save file from Legends: Arceus, and you must have completed the "Main Mission 27: The Pokémon Called the God."

"System, why isn't the Hisui region listed?"

"Hisui is a hidden region; the Host must explore it independently."

Seeing the text on the system screen, Dylan felt a bit speechless.

Hisui is actually the ancient Sinnoh region, so there's no need to guess; this exploration is definitely related to the Sinnoh region.

But compared to exploring the Hisui region, Dylan still thought that Necrozma and Eternatus were more appealing.

"Let's evolve Dragonair into Dragonite first, then decide which region to choose."

Dylan pondered for a moment and decided not to rush into choosing a region. Instead, he stayed in Kanto for a while longer.

Dragonair was already at level 53, and with focused training, its level was rising quickly.

Early the next morning.

Dylan rubbed his head as he sat up, appreciating one of the benefits of the Growth Simulation—never lacking in sleep quality.

After getting up and washing up, Dylan went to the backyard.

"Come out."

Dylan took out an Ultra Ball and opened it.

With a flash of white light, an ice-blue bird Pokémon appeared in the air, flapping its wings slowly as it hovered. As it flew, tiny ice crystals gently fell, accompanied by a cool breeze—an exceptionally beautiful sight.

One of the legendary bird Pokémon, Articuno!

'Beep~ Articuno, Ice/Flying type, Freeze Pokémon

Ability: Snow Cloak

Moves: Blizzard, Hurricane, Hail, Ice Beam, Roost, Freeze-Dry, Tailwind, Reflect, Protect...

Description: A legendary bird Pokémon that controls ice. It is said that it will snow when Articuno flies by because its wings cool the air.'

Its beautiful blue feathers shimmered with a faint blue glow, almost translucent, with a crown of three deep blue, diamond-shaped feathers on its head. Its eyes were red, and the most striking feature was its tail feathers.

The long tail feathers were deep blue, swaying gracefully as Articuno flew, elegant and stunning.

"So beautiful."

Dylan watched as Articuno flew gracefully in the sky, nodding in satisfaction.

Indeed, among the three legendary birds, only Articuno had the looks.

Moltres' wings looked like roasted chicken wings, and although Zapdos was strong, its spiky feathers made it look like a raggedy bird.

"Articuno."

"Yiao~"

The ethereal and melodious cry echoed in the sky. Articuno, who was flying around the backyard, heard Dylan's call, turned around, and slowly landed, folding its wings as it stood before Dylan, tilting its head to look at him.

"Hello, Articuno. Do you recognize me?"

"Yiao~"

Articuno nodded in a human-like manner. The familiar bond wasn't a lie; it had the memories of being captured by Dylan and battling for him.

"My Articuno is really beautiful."

Dylan approached Articuno, and a gentle chill immediately enveloped him. Dylan gently stroked Articuno's feathers, which were soft, cool, and had an incredible texture.

A smile spread across Dylan's lips. From today onwards, he was also a Trainer with a legendary Pokémon!

"Yiya~"

Articuno understood that Dylan was complimenting it. Its red eyes sparkled with joy, and it closed them in a smile, leaning its head down to nuzzle against Dylan's cheek affectionately.

"You're still like a big kid," Dylan said with a chuckle, rubbing Articuno's head.

A typical Articuno is about 1.7 meters tall, but Dylan's Articuno seemed to be at least 2 meters tall, a head taller than Dylan.

With a wingspan of at least four or five meters, this Articuno was exceptionally well-developed.

As Dylan continued to pet it, Articuno seemed even happier, snuggling its head into Dylan's chest affectionately.

It seems to have a very affectionate and playful nature.

Dylan's smile deepened.

Stare~!

Not far away, Meowscarada's jewel-like eyes were fixed on Dylan and Articuno, its face clearly showing displeasure.

This oversized bird is trying to steal my trainer's affection!!!
