Melton doubled over, the sensation of the core inside him both bizarre and unsettling. "Nexus, what... what is happening?" he gasped.
"The core is integrating with your system,"
Nexus reported. "It appears to be designed to adapt to its host."
Melton felt a surge of heat come from his stomach and travel throughout his body. He fell to the ground, the energy from the core shooting through him and distorting his vision. Pain mingled with an inexplicable sense of power, his senses heightening as the core's energy melded with his own.
"Integration process initiated," Nexus continued. "Analyzing effects on the host body."
Melton moaned and clutched at his abdomen, feeling a weird electric sensation take over from the pain as he slowly forced himself to his feet and began to breathe deeply.
"Core integration complete," Nexus announced. "Preliminary analysis indicates enhanced energy reserves and improved system compatibility."

As soon as his hand touched the pipe, a blast of energy shot into his body, the electric current blending perfectly with the force of the core.
He let out a gasp as the raw energy shot through him, energizing his muscles and enhancing his perception. It was an overwhelming, somehow exhilarating feeling.
"Analyzing energy," Nexus chimed in, its voice calm amidst the chaos in Melton's mind.

"Energy absorption in effect," Nexus alerted. Melton felt the power of the chimera being drawn into his own system, integrating with the core he had swallowed earlier.

"I know that much, you make a lot of unnecessary comments don't you?" Melton said as he walked towards the entrance of the cave.
Melton nodded, a determined glint in his eyes. With these new powers at his disposal, he felt more prepared than ever to face the legendary chimera and whatever other challenges lay ahead.
