Even though my mind was clouded with confusion, the mention of my father's name triggered a desperate urgency. My voice wavered as I asked, "Wwwwheere eeeis my father, and who and what are you?"
The voice, calm and precise despite my agitation, responded, "As of now, I do not know where Mr. Alexander Ravenswood is."
Frustration boiled over inside me. "And who are you?" I demanded.
"I am your AI butler," the voice continued, unwavering. "I am a singular entity created from your recorded blood, known as the Guardian of Omniscient Data, or G.O.D. for short."
The realization that G.O.D had no immediate knowledge of my father's location left me feeling both helpless and enraged. "Then what do you know?" I demanded, my voice rising with a mix of anger and fear.
"I was activated not long ago," G.O.D replied. "I have just updated myself with your memories. I know what you know. For additional information, you must awaken from this trance-like state and connect me to the internet."
The thought of needing an internet connection to access more information seemed almost absurd. How could I even wake up from this disorienting state? As I pondered, G.O.D's voice spoke again: "If you are unable to awaken on your own, please allow me to assist."
My heart raced with the unsettling realization that this entity could read my thoughts. "Okay, G.O.D, wake me up," I said, trying to mask my rising panic.
In an instant, a blinding light enveloped my vision, and I found myself back in the bunker. I blinked, hoping it had all been a dream. To confirm, I called out, "G.O.D, are you there?"
The reply was immediate and clear: "Always at your service, sir."
It was then that I understood it wasn't a dream. I had to find out where my father was. "Do you know where my father is now?"
"I do not, sir," G.O.D responded. "To gather more information, you must connect me to the internet. Please turn on the Wi-Fi and allow me to connect."
I rushed to my father's computer, turned on the Wi-Fi, and said, "You're allowed to connect to the internet."
The voice confirmed: "Permission Granted... Permission Verified. G.O.D. is searching for nearby Wi-Fi... G.O.D. found Wi-Fi: 'Alexander_Home_WiFi.' G.O.D. connecting to Wi-Fi... G.O.D. is now connected to the internet. Please wait 120 minutes for data gathering and processing."
Frustrated but with no other option, I slumped onto the bed, trying to organize my chaotic thoughts. What exactly was G.O.D? Why had my father sent it to me? Why was it created from my blood? Did it have other motives? Could it control me or my actions? A whirlwind of questions flooded my mind, and I lost track of time.
Two hours later, a new message appeared, floating in a blue box:
"G.O.D. has been updated. World information gathered."
Eager for answers, I asked, "Now tell me where my father is."
G.O.D.'s response came promptly: "Searching for Mr. Alexander Ravenswood. Sir, am I authorized to hack devices to determine his current location?"
The urgency of the situation outweighed my hesitations. "You are authorized. Find him quickly."
"Right away, sir. Searching for Mr. Alexander Ravenswood," G.O.D. confirmed.
Within 30 seconds, it responded, "Mr. Alexander was last seen at iRobot Ltd. in a secret bunker, under Okanagan Mountain Provincial Park, 14,620 meters from your location."
A chill ran down my spine. "Why did he send you to me? Why did he tell me to run to the safehouse? What happened to Milo, our cat? Did something happen to my father?"
"Information gathering…" G.O.D replied. "He sent me to protect you from imminent danger and to assist you. He instructed you to flee to the safehouse because he feared that Tenebris's operatives would capture you. Milo was secretly sent with me, carrying the vial to ensure your safety. Unfortunately, iRobot Ltd. was destroyed by a catastrophic explosion, and Mr. Alexander Ravenswood was still inside."
