Lucian returned to their room to find Ave pushing herself from the bed, but she clutched her head and swayed on her feet like she felt dizzy when she stood up. Without wasting time, he reached her side in long strides and pulled her into his arms before she lost her balance.
"Careful there, love," he whispered as he pulled her to lean on his chest while he wrapped his arms protectively around her. She smiled and leaned onto him with her hands flat against his strong chest for support. It always felt nice to be held by him like this; it made her feel like nothing in this world could harm her.
