Chapter 64 - Reverse condition

Back inside Lucian's chamber, Ave's eyes widened as she saw the state he was in on his bed. He lay there without moving while his chest rose and fell slowly; one wouldn't even notice his breathing until looking closely. He looked pale, his forehead was covered in sweat, and the white shirt on his body had a bloodstain on the side.

Dropping the lamp on the nightstand, she climbed onto the bed and gently pulled his head onto her lap. She touched his face with her hand and gasped at his heated temperature. He was burning up so badly that she quickly pulled back her hand from the heat.

"Lucian?" she called gently, patting his cheek to wake him up. "Can you hear me?" she asked as his eyes slowly opened and then shut again before he groaned and tried to move his head away from her lap.
