Zane nodded. "That's what I heard, and from the covered dishes lying untouched on the dining table, it must be true."
Lucian muttered a curse under his breath. "That means she hasn't eaten and went to sleep." He walked away from Zane in long strides and made his way to his chamber. He opened the door and walked into the dark chamber.
He snapped his fingers and turned on the lights. When his eyes fell on the bed, his expression softened as he noticed his wife curled up into a small ball on the bed, sleeping without a blanket. Her red hair spread over the pillow and around her, and her lips were slightly parted as she snored lightly.
He walked up to her and sat down at the edge of the bed. She looked so peaceful sleeping, almost like a child the way she curled herself up and hugged her arms around her knees that were pulled up to her chest. She was cold, and yet she didn't use the blanket.
