Chapter 4 - chapter 4

The night had given way to dawn, and the sun now cast its radiant glow. However, Jesse was nowhere to be found.

Dezze pulled her car over to the side of the road, bringing it to a halt at a quiet corner. She turned off the engine and attempted to rest, closing her eyes in hopes of catching a few moments of sleep. But slumber eluded her.

It was 6:00 in the morning as she trying to get some rest into the car, but the anxiety still lingers inside her. Looking at her mobile screen, 10 missed calls of mark she found. When she calls back, she finds out that the person she was looking for is in her house right now.

she wanted to go to see Jesse immediately but she can't go. She has to go to the spot of the incident and gather all the information.

At least now her fear has subsided a little. Exhales deeply and starts the engine of her car.

Dezze arrived at Jesse's office after completing her tasks, driven by a pressing need to check on Jesse's well-being. However, upon entering the office, their paths crossed, and to Dezze's dismay, Jesse brushed past her without acknowledgment, treating her like a stranger, and continued towards her private office.

"I stood there few minutes ago, (Enters Jesse's office) probably you didn't saw.how are you? Are you fine? Did anything happen in those one month?are you..(goes closer to her for check.)really okay.? "But few steps back of Jesse's makes her miserable and stranger. Wants to hugs her but couldn't. Those glimpse of eyes not familiar for Dezze. She try to stay Calm with a few distance But can't help. When she spread her arms to hug her, Jesse stops.

"I'm fine. Don't worry. I'm quite busy right now so."

"Then we can meet at evening. I will pick you up.what you say? " It's clearly visible on Dezze's face that how desperately she wants to talk her, wants to discuss about her passed one month story were she was absent, if she is okay or not, wants to check her. But right now it's seems everything fine. The way Jesse's behavior have change, it's obvious Dezze's anxiety growing deeper.

"Okay, I also want to talk with you. Then we will meet at evening." Quick response of Jesse's can't able to solve Dezze's puzzles minds, instead makes her more scared than before.

"Can't we discuss here? Right now?" Somehow she had already read Jesse's face and knew her intentions. The familiar fear crept back in, taking hold of Dezze once more. She asked again, her voice searching for reassurance when Jesse's response was silence.

"Can't you say it now?"

This time both of them talked to each other but through their eyes. Their eyes met for only a few seconds but tears fell from Dezze's eyes. She had got the answer without hearing the answer. Jesse still remained silent. she has no answer but only silence. This silence became a punishment for Dezze. In an attempt to control her tears and anger, she thought it is best to get out of there.Dezze is not ready to get away from Jesse and Jesse? don't know. her conflict world builded there when her trust was gone and in return she gets loneliness. no matter who is with her, her fear there. If someone has broken her trust, then someone has also strengthened it. But more than the memories of those who strengthened, the memories of those who broke it leave a deeper mark.

Jesse opens her mouth after Dezze rises to the office door.

"The repeated disapperation is quite shameful, specially for me. I don't want to people to know about my story. It is so dramatic that They will laugh at me. Whatever upcoming interview you people hold for me, I will handle it with privately. No one allow to interfere in this matter. whatever statement I will give, will better for both of us. so please don't interfere in this matter. I beg you."

"I have never interfered in your matter. Yes, if you want I shouldn't interfere in the investigation of this case, then it's okay, someone will take your interview in my place. Thank you for your advanced concern." She walks out without looking back. She wanted to talk about something more than all this but Jesse's changing behavior doesn't allow her to worry about internal matters.

At nightbar,

"I love her very much. Listen both of you… are you listening? I love her very very..very...much. If anyone tells me to leave her… her… I will kill (falls down.)"

With one hand on Mark's shoulder and one hand on Ricky's shoulder, Dezze is taken out of the bar. Who would have thought that while opening up her heart, she would get drunk .

"Mark, it's late at night. Dezze is also very drunk, what should we do?" Ricky and Mark both came to bar for make some fun with Dezze , unfortunately they gets to carry drunk Dezze. "Are you listening?" Ricky asks again but Mark's eyes are more focused on the cars passing by.

A full speed car suddenly stops in front of them.

Jesse comes out from inside with a coat.

"Thank you for calling me."She immediately covers drunk Dezze with that coat."I will take her with me."

"Yes, of course bye . " Mark said.

Jesse waves her hand and take away with Dezze.

Upon arriving home, Jesse helped Dezze onto the bed, where she lay down, fully aware but under the influence. In a haze, Dezze began to inhale the scent of the bedsheet.

"It's really you. really you. The smells is really you. I missed you so much. I'm sorry, I'm really really sorry. I'm really useless. (With the bedsheet completely covering her face.) But ... but.I find it easier to die than to be separated from you. what should I do? "

Jesse listened intently but keeps silent. As Dezze finished speaking, an awkward silence fell between them. Jesse, seeking escape from there, turned to leave, but Dezze intercepted her.

"Wait, (She gets up from the bed with her tottering steps and signals Jesse to sit on the bed.)"

"You are drunk so please don't create...(suddenly her eyes locked with Dezze's. She started feeling as if dezze had caught a thief. She could not refuse her polite request and slowly sat down on the bed. Dezze takes out the first aid box from the table with tottering steps and sits down next to Jesse.)

"Pull up your shirt sleeves," Dezze urged, her voice laced with concern.

Jesse's eyes widened in alarm, her hands clenched into fists. She was resolute in her refusal.

"Don't make me ask again," Dezze pleaded, her voice trembling. "I'm not asking for much. Are you going to hide this from me? Don't I deserve to know what he's done to you? Why are you silent? Please, say something."

Dezze's eyes brimmed with tears, her restlessness palpable. But what unsettled her more was Jesse's unyielding silence.

"that bastard will pay for it otherwise i will...." Dezze murmurs and forcefully lifts Jesse's sleeves, but then Jesse pushes her on the bed and moves five steps away from her.

"How dare you? (Jesse screams.) You all are same, you are all one."An uncomfortable silence once again enveloped the room. Jesse reflected on her actions, regretting her behavior, but it's to late.

Dezze comprehended the unspoken truth. Her gaze locked onto Jesse, unwavering and intense.

Her eyes, red-rimmed from unshed tears, seemed to bore into Jesse's soul. Her body remained frozen, paralyzed by emotions.

Jesse falls on the ground helplessly. The cold heart of a few hours now turns into softness. She starts crying while hugging tightly herself with her both arms. Dezze who had been thinking for so many days that staying with Jesse will fill her wounds, all those misunderstandings were dispelled today.

Dezze remained on the bed, consumed by tears. She knew that getting close to Jesse now would only drag Jesse back into the same emotional turmoil she was desperately trying to escape. For half an hour the sound of crying kept echoing in the room. But Dezze did not even dare to go near her. She waited until Jesse could regain composure herself.

few minutes passed,

"Sorry.. (Stands up from the ground ) I overreacted a bit too much.(wapes her tears) you should go . I need some rest."

Dezze remained silent, lost in her thoughts but she wanted to heal the wounds that were visible on Jesse's body. Although she did not have any ointment for internal parts, she still had an ointment that could heal the wounds.

"Okay, I will go but after applying the ointment." She stood up.

Jesse's eyes, previously hidden from Dezze, now met hers, red-rimmed and brimming with tears. Her voice trembled as she uttered the words: "I think we should break up."

"Okay. Let's break up. " dezze respond quickly.

With quiet composure, Dezze invited Jesse back to the bed, her voice soft and gentle. Jesse hesitated, anxiety creeping in, but eventually sat down beside her.

Dezze wordlessly lifted Jesse's shirt sleeves and began applying the ointment with tender care. She knew that if she spoke, her emotions would overflow, and tears would follow. Worse still, she feared that in a moment of vulnerability, she would unintentionally plead for more - more comfort, more reassurance, or more love Which was not the right time.

"Even though I don't want to be apart from you but I accept your breakup. If i say too much then I will become selfish, that's why I don't want to say anything."

If something is asked for while crying, it is from the heart but what the other person thinks is the biggest mystery. Seeing her craving, Jesse may not even break up with her But Dezze understands that love cannot be obtained by asking for it, it has to be earned and that too with passion.

Jesse gazed at Dezze's face, her eyes welling up with unshed tears. Suddenly, a resounding voice within Jesse's heart thundered a dire warning: "Stop, or you'll lose her forever." But she could not do anything except crying.

After applying ointment on both the wrists, Dezze places both the feet of Jesse in her lap and starts applying ointment.

"I know it takes a lot of courage to reveal the incident that happened to you to others. thank you for coming this morning at our office. (raise her head and looks at Jesse.) everything will be alright but it will takes time. trust me."

"are you not mad at me?"Jesse asks.

"(Wipes Jesse's flowing tears ) no."

"Why?" Jesse asks again.Though her eyes still brimmed with tears, she couldn't help but heed every word Dezze spoke.

"Because when I see you, I remember all those victims who have gone through same such situation and my mother is also among them. she has also received wounds along with betrayal in her life.In such a situation, I am not angry at you, rather I am angry at myself. What is the use of a detective who cannot punish a criminal. You tell me whose fault is it? So don't cry.. (wipes away Jesse's unceasing tears again.) Don't. You don't deserve this."

At Dezze's gentle urging, Jesse wiped away her falling tears. Though her inner wounds ran deep and wouldn't soon heal, she yearned to hear Dezze's words.

"Finish." Dezze politely puts Jesse's legs down, it seems her intoxication has now disappeared.(deep sigh)I should go (Dezze gets up from bed, pauses for a while, then turns and looks at Jesse.) I respect your decision but I have never thought of leaving you even once. Take care of yourself." (Dezze comes out of the room.)

As Jesse watched Dezze walk away, tears began to fall. Torn by conflicting emotions, she questioned the righteousness of her actions. A part of her yearned to call out and stop Dezze, yet another, deeper instinct urged her to let go.

Jesse's month-long experience with Andi must have been an unbearable ordeal, but her greatest challenge now lay in openly discussing those painful details with Dezze.
