Chapter 96 - The Shrine

After Mariel had left to reunite with her friend, Wataru, Air, and Clochette decided to have lunch together. The culinary landscape of this world was diverse and full of surprises, yet Wataru found himself missing rice, an essential part of his diet back in his own world.

"And the bread's always so dry and hard," he muttered as he struggled with a particularly crumbly piece. Yeast and leavening agents were what this world desperately needed, he thought. If only he could find a way to spread their use.

However, judging by Mariel, Air, and now Clochette's reactions, the food here didn't seem to bother the locals much. They appeared satisfied, indicating the issue might be due to Wataru's different cultural background and dietary habits. It was said that the development of one's salivary glands differed between cultures that relied on rice versus those that subsisted on bread. Perhaps that was why this food felt so dry to him.
