Chapter 21 - Chapter 20

Steven had just reached Araban's house.

Steven, not wanting to say a word to Araban just grabbed the blanket Araban gave him and used it to lie on the floor.

Araban didn't even seem to notice Steven's presence as he laid on his with his eyes wide open which made Steven feel incredibly uneasy.

Steven tried his best to sleep but his mind was filled with thoughts about David and what he was doing next to the temple so late at night.

Steven tried his best to ignore his mind and the thought about David that filled it and tried to have a good night sleep but each and every time he closed his eyes shut and tried to sleep all he saw David as thoughts of him clouded his mind and forced him to open up his eyes.

Steven now annoyed with his thoughts, got up and then walked towards to the door, wanting to leave the house and get some fresh air, hoping that doing that would ease his mind enough for him to get some sleep but just as he was about to reach the door a burst of wind blew out of know where, then Araban appeared in front of him.

"And where do you think you're going to?" Asked Araban?

"To get some fresh air, I can't sleep" said Steven coldly, annoyed that Araban was blocking his way.

"Hmm" said Araban, thinking for a moment whether or not he should allow Steven leave.

"If you don't let me, go, I'll make this night the most miserable night of your life," said Steven.

"Are you threatening me boy because if you are, you should know I have faced for greater horror than a moody teenager. Do your worse boy" said Araban.

Steven then smiled with a sinister grin on his face upon hearing what Araban said.

A few moments there was a small fiery explosion from within Araban's home and then, moments late Steven was thrown out of the house by a powerful gust of wind.

"Your punishment for doing such a disrespectful act is to spend the night alone in the forest" yelled Araban was currently covered in smoke from head to toe before shutting the door.

Steven just sighed before getting up.

He didn't care if using his powers against Araban was considered disrespectful or not, all he wanted to do was get some fresh air and honestly, he didn't care if he had to spend the night alone in the forest.

Steven roamed through the forest aimlessly, until stopping once he reached a small lake.

He then sat down next to a tree near the lake.

Looked at the lake and the way it shuns beautifully under the light of stars and the moon.

He then smiled a little as memory of his past flash in his mind.

He remembered back when he was little before he came to the academy.

Back then he and Susan were close and would often play together in the large grass covered fields that surrounded their home.

One day, while playing, he and Susan found a lake, similar to the one Steven looking at that very moment.

Susan would always practice using her powers on the lake, summoning the waters from the lake to form strange shape and take different forms.

Steven remembered laughing at her whenever she struggled to control her powers while she practiced which often led to him begin soak by a massive wave from the lake thanks to an angry Susan.

Remember those past days of his and Susan's childhood made him smile before he began to wonder how so much had changed in the passing years.

He and Susan were no longer close and barely talked to each other.

Steven was deeply saddened by the fact that he and his sister had drifted away, he wished he and Susan could go back to the days when they were young and loving playing with each other on the grass covered filled of their home, he even missed annoying and enraging Susan which would often lead to him getting soaked by her.

Steven, not wanting to continue to remember his past with his sister as it made him feel a great deal of sadness and regret over the fact that the relationship, he once shared with his sister had change, got up and the left the lake.

As he left, he began to think of David.

Steven's view on David was an unclear one, he greatly disliked him and felt like attacking him every single time he got a chance to but there was something about him that Steven could help but be intrigued with.

Steven was the kind of person that respected strength and even though Steven didn't want to admit it, David was strong and possessed incredible skills that were greater the average air dragon warrior.

He saw the strength David possessed during his fight with Jack, he fought with everything he had even when he seemed to be out matched and even managed to defeat him.

Steven may not like David but even he had to admit to himself that there was something quite unique and strange about David.

Steven also thought about how he and Araban found David outside the academy, lying on the floor unconscious next to The Temple of The Golden Dragon Warrior.

He couldn't stop wondering why David was there and what was the cause of that massive explosion.

He kept thinking more and more about David, allowing his mind fill up with questions about David and who he truly was.

After a while Steven got tired and slightly annoyed with his thoughts about David as no matter hard, he tried to think about David and why he was strange his mind could not give him a rational and realistic answer.

Steven, tired of thinking about David, decided to summon his dragon and ride it high up in the night sky.

As Steven flew on his fire dragon, he felt a sense of bliss and peace that he hadn't felt in a long time.

In the academy students rarely summon their dragons except when training during classes so it had been a while since Steven had been able to summon his dragon and just enjoyed a peaceful ride on its back.

As he rode his dragon Steven looked at the night sky, catching a glimpse of the stars and the beautiful moon at lit up the night sky with a beautiful sliver light.

Looking at the moon reminded Steven of another moment in his past when he and Susan rode their dragons together underneath a full moon, during a night similar to that night.

He remembered Susan asking him a ridiculous question, saying, "Steven do you think if we flew a dragon high enough, we would be able to reach the moon and stars".

And Steven, being just as young and naïve at the time would just say, "Nope, I think we would fly passed them if we tried".

The memory made Steven chuckle lightly as he thought about how silly Susan was to ask such a question and how sillier his answer to the question was.

Steven continued his flying through the night sky with his dragon, enjoying cold night air blowing gentle on his face while he flew.

Then Steven spotted something from down below, strange and mysterious figure that jumped out of a hole on the ground near the Temple of The Golden Dragon Warrior.

"Is that, no it can't be" said Steven as he rode his dragon lower, to get a closer look at what he spotted.

Steven was now low enough to see the strange figure he spotted more clearly without being detected.

Steven's eyes then widened seeing that the figure was none other than David.

Steven thought about confronting him to find out what he was doing outside the academy so late at night but stopped himself upon realizing that this might be his chance to know more about the person he disliked the most.

Steven stayed on his dragon, outside David's view, watching him from a far.

Then David did something Steven would never be able to believe if he didn't see it for him.

David opened the temple's doors with a brilliant flash of golden light and then walked in before the door closed shut.

Steven upon seeing that landed his dragon next to the temple and just stared at it, wondering if what he saw really happened of if his mind was just playing tricks on him so late at night.

"This can't be real, can it?" were the only words Steven managed as he continued struggling to believe what his eyes saw.

David, who was now within the temple walls, found himself standing in what seemed to be a golden chamber and within that chamber stood four massive pillars, one made of fire, another made of solid earth, another of water and with the last being made of air.

David then noticed some writings on the wall that said;

"To wield the true power of the golden dragon warrior you must have above all pure and golden heart, fueled and driven by the blood of a golden dragon and be able to conquer the four elements in any form"

David upon reading what the writings said heard a sound coming from the pillars.

He then turned to the pillars and saw, much to his shock and astonishment; them begin change forms in to something akin to that of a monster or beast.
