Alexander felt horrible as he watched two maids clean up the disaster with Calvin's assistance. Alexander could sense the man's irritation at the way he had left the room after his outburst the previous night. "Are you sure you don't want my assistance?"
"That won't be necessary, your grace," Calvin said with a half-hearted smile. "Please leave this to us. Everything will appear tidy by the time you return this evening."
"If you insist," Alexander reluctantly agreed with a nod.
"Please go about your business as normal," Calvin instructed. "Didn't you wish to take Princess Corina to meet the baker today?"
"Ah, yes, I nearly forgot," Alexander admitted as he scratched the back of his head. "I'll leave this in your hands then."
The duke left the room and looked down to his feet for a moment. He felt ashamed for his staff to see his messy belongings, but the past was unchangeable.
