Chapter 1 - Thalric Malvornis Dravenor Elyndor

The clicking noise of a keyboard fills the room. A man is engrossed in his computer. Yes, it's me—the main character of this absurd novel. I'm 26 years old, but I'm not ordinary. I was reincarnated into this world, known as Blue Star, from Earth. It's been 26 years on this planet.

I had an existential crisis at first, but I overcame it with time. I don't have much to say about my parents; they were just busy people. That's fine because I don't even consider them as my parents. I mean, who in their right mind would? I was literally 55 years old before I reincarnated, so yeah. However, I did have some affection for them, which adds a moral +1, I guess. Both of them are dead now—killed by me. Not cool, Johnny, not cool.

It's confusing but not really. The reason is simple: the game called Yggdrasil. I couldn't believe it at first, but hey, I'm not complaining. Why bother being human when you can literally become a god? I immediately applied for the beta test, got accepted, and it starts in the next two days. The reason I killed both of my parents in this world was for their money. I'm their only child, so I inherited all their wealth. They were involved in real estate and owned several rental properties. Cheap for me, and a moment of peace for them… or maybe permanent?

Long story short, I became rich overnight with their fortune, but not quite rich enough to buy a leading game company. So, here's the plan: grind every day. That's it. Most MMORPGs just require grinding. Eventually, you'll become incredibly powerful. Of course, you need a little luck along the way.

Three Months Later…

The beta test lasted three months. I thought it would be shorter. Thanks to that, I found multiple bugs that I could exploit later. Not too fast, though; otherwise, the AI would detect it immediately and fix it. I want to keep these bugs secret until the end. So the game officially starts today.

A cozy room is filled with the latest VR setup. Bed-shaped full dive gear lies there, decorated with white and silver lines. The room is filled with nothing but DMMORPG-related items. There lies a man with an Eastern appearance and sharp eyes. Average height with a one-pack. Hey, don't judge me—who cares about six-packs when you can live comfortably?

Anyway, I start my full dive gear. Did I mention it's a modified one? It allows the user to bypass the system's forced logout, a legal requirement for DMMORPG gear to prevent people from using it for 24 hours straight and dying from it. Mine even has a nutrient tank. I thought I might need it if I decide to grind for long hours or even days. It says I can keep going without food and sleep in that tank for 7 days. Well, they say I need to rest plenty afterward, but whatever.

The familiar screen shows up. I like this startup. It never gets boring.

'Welcome to Yggdrasil'

'Please choose your starting race'

'Limited time event: $299,999 for world item "Orb of Creation: Allows players to fully customize their character. Gain two unique skills of your choice. Status bonus +100. +15 skill points." Time remaining until the event ends: 119:59:20. Limited number: 3'

Well, the first major event of the game is here. Honestly, I doubt anyone is stupid enough to spend almost half a million on a game that's just come out—except me, obviously. I bought it as soon as I finished reading it. There you go, my deceased parents' good deeds. A bank notification appeared: -$299,999 deduction.

Another screen appeared in front of me, allowing me to customize as I wished. It needed to be reviewed by developers for approval, though. I doubt they would allow a game-breaking character. Just a little overpowering would probably be fine.

For the race, I considered going with the Storm Giant race. Titans are high-end races in Yggdrasil but come with various debuffs and nerfs to balance them out. They are slow and have ridiculously slow experience gain. But Storm Giants are not. They are a non-playable race; you only see them in bosses.

Ultimately, I chose the shapeshifter. It's a mid-tier race but has immense potential. Normally, shapeshifter races can't fully replicate the strength or skills of the race they shift into, but with the Orb of Creation, the potential of this race is literally infinite. It's broken, to be honest. Normally, shapeshifters can't get 100 percent of the strength or skills of the race they shift into, but the one I'm going to create will be able to. Stats points and skill points are reset too. It's like playing multiple accounts with just one character. Of course, there are developer nerfs as well. For each character, it takes double the effort to max out as you progress. You can't access another character's shapeshift abilities until you max out the current one. Essentially, leveling up becomes harder as my character slots expand. But it's totally worth it. Still broken. Since I could even access high-end races as long as conditions or quests are met.

Time Skip: 12 Years Later

As you can imagine, I've become incredibly overpowered. I grind day and night, except for the time spent sleeping, with an average playtime of 13 hours a day. You can imagine how that goes.

I'm the highest rank in everything—literally everything. From my strength to my guild, even crafting items. I'm capable of crafting items that rival or surpass world items. Of course, the developers don't know this since I haven't crafted them yet. I need the bugs to work. I plan to do it only near the end. There are 200 world items in Yggdrasil, and 159 of them are in my guild's treasure room, as world items can't be stored in inventory. The missing ones are either ones we haven't found yet or items we forgot to sell or didn't sell for some reason. I bought everything I could and did everything possible to ensure that I'm incredibly overpowered.

I have 9 max-level characters in my shapeshifter slots:

Storm Giant: Titan race, one who rivals gods. Immense strength and control over storms and power. Mage-monk build. Known as "Tempestus."

Grand Angel: Ancient race, born from pure light element. Healer/Priest build. Able to cure and purify anything. Known as "Radiant Imperator."

High Human: Human, but much more powerful and perfect. Base stats rival dragons. Master of summoning branch magic. Summoner build. Has 9 super-powerful summons that rival gods. Known as "Invoker."

Immortal: Close relative of celestial beings. Curse build. Throws curses that extend life spans. One of the most broken builds ever. Known as "Sovereign."

Traveler: Unique race created by Player "Thalric Malvornis Dravenor Elyndor." Mage build. Known as "Spaceweaver."

Aeonians: A race whose existence spans countless eons, allowing them to perceive and influence the past, present, and future. This race can only exist as one individual at a time. Born from nature. Mage build. Known as "Aeon Master."

Oracians: Lost race with prophetic abilities that enable them to see and influence destinies across time. Support build. Born from nature. Known as "Overseer."

Artificians: Unparalleled in crafting powerful and magical artifacts. Born from nature. Craft build. Known as "Bringer."

Undead: Simply undead. Born from the dead. Support/buff build. Known as "Overlord."

Normally, it is impossible to acquire such overpowered races, but I have connections with the Yggdrasil programming team. I give them money, and they give me cheats. Fair enough, right? They didn't agree at first until I promised not to use them publicly. I said it was for lore and role-playing purposes, and they eventually agreed. Easy, right?

Some of the builds I have are useless in the game itself. They will be useful once I transport to the New World, though. Strangely, these developers couldn't be convinced to give me more world items or create items that could raise the level limit. They said it would be too overpowered—not that I'm not already. It could break the underlying code of the overseeing AI, they said. A pity, I guess.

I didn't create any NPCs because I'm lazy, but I did collect a bunch of data and tools to create NPCs, naturally from programmer friends. In Yggdrasil, getting a personal NPC is quite hard unless you conquer dungeons and create guilds. You can't create them normally. Fortunately, I have good friends.

This world is rotten to the core, controlled by big corporations and poisoned air. As a generous friend, it's no surprise they would provide water for my character. Of course, they're willing to help because I'm not flashy or public. All my information is covered by world items I equipped. Personally, I prefer to enjoy silently. Otherwise, they wouldn't take the risk, as if the AI or the company found out, they'd be in trouble. Yggdrasil's in-game currency can be traded for real money, similar to NFTs, and there are numerous legal implications. Looking back, I feel incredibly fortunate to have connected with these friends. Ofcourse, the real closest ally is money and will remain so indefinitely. They wouldn't assist me without it, that's for sure. But enough about that—let's move on.

I'm in the Ainz Ooal Gown guild. Who knows what might have happened if I weren't here? So, I'm sticking around until New World. I haven't changed a thing. Mommomga is still the leader, and everything is going as planned. I'm something of a mystery to my guildmates since I usually play solo, even though I'm in the guild. They don't know much about me, and I've never shared any personal details. The only reason I haven't been kicked out is that I'm one of the founders and the one who bring the rank of guild to No.1. Oh, and I have my own floor in the guild—definitely a plus.

As the countdown reaches zero, boom, I'm transported to New World, and my first words are:

"I'm Thalric Malvornis Dravenor Elyndor."
