Chapter 9 - Chapter 9: Selection Vl

Has the Raging Tsunami came rushing towards Theodora, she had no way of dodging or blocking the oncoming spell. This was the undicap that came with fighting opponents with fire or water element arts.

She had no choice but to use one of her more powerful spell so early into the match. 'If I can't dodge or block, then I'll just have to blast the spell out of my way. Plus, Kelvin's watching. I need to show off a little more.'

At once she casted, Wind art [Guardian].

This spell long ago was categorised as a special magic spell which was under the guardian special magic, and so it was down graded.

If it came to completely knocking back water and earth magic arts. This spell was obsolete.

Strong streams of wind started rapping around itself, forming the giant wind guardian itself. The crowd was amazed, some students thought it was the special magic [summoning] which basically allowed the caster to summon one of three things.

A magic being or summoning animal, magic tools or weapons and stored magic spells.

While swinging its hand, a giant mallet of wind formed in it's swinging hand and it hit the Tsunami, causing it to completely burst. The excess wind form the impact was directed towards Elizabeth, slowly pushing her back little by little.

Using this as a distraction, Theodora rushed in to land a bit on her, but the wind stopped just in time for Elizabeth to block it. The two were finally throwing hands in close combat fighting and exchanging blows, each of them managing to dodge, block or counter.

In close combat no doubt, Theodora was pushing her back, adding more and more mana into her attacks. Instead of knocking her out. Her new aim was to push her off the ring.

As she pushed her back, her plan was working and the princess noticed this and turned the tables and managed to switch positions with her. Outside of the arena, a suspicious looking person snicked into the arena and found themselves on the walk way to the ring.

On the side lines, the suspicious person charged up a fire ball and concealed it using special magic and blasted it at Theodora from behind. This managed to catch her off guard when she sensed the spell coming last minute.

She had to dodge two attacks and she decided best to dodge the more damaging one first and see what she would do about the other. But this was too much her for her to handle.

Successfully dodged the fireball but not Elizabeth's fist. When the hit landed, she was knocked back and she fell off the edge of the ring.

"Woah! What happened."

[Student 1]

"I don't know, I blinked."

[Student 2]

"Didn't see a thing."

[Student 3]

The students began to speak up about what had happened, everyone was confused. Out of everyone else in the supporters, Timothy and I were the only ones to notice it.

"Did you see that," I said."As clear as day," Timothy responded.

The two of us saw exactly what happened. Our eyes were specially gifted, I with the curse ot the Karuta clan could see through any special magic and Timothy was given the Universal eye of the Dragon that allowed him to see the outcome 5 seconds into the future.

He used it in the last few seconds to determine the winner. The down side of this power was that he could only use it once a day. Then again, it could not be detected by any special magic once activated.

Both Timothy and I were sharp as ever and could not easily be fooled by low level special magic. "It looked like it was hidden by special magic," Timothy said. I nodded in agreement.

After completing his mission, the suspicious person ran off, out otlf the open arena and disappeared out of sight. I quickly accessed the situation and along with Timothy, we went on after him.

We ran towards where he dissappear, hoping to at least catch a glimpse of where he could have gone. On the way I asked Timothy if he could check on Theodora as I would chase down the man.

Timothy agreed by nodding his head and he switched courses. Out of the arena, I looked around but could not find where the man went. I tried looking round for any traces of Mana left behind after casting special magic, but there was nothing to be found.

Back in the arena, Timothy attended to Theodora who was dusting herself off from the fall. Just then the match official raised his hand, signalling the end of the match and declared Elizabeth as the winner.

Elizabeth on the other hand was confused why her opponent dived directly into her fist. She was sure she would easily dodge and beat her.

Slowly the confused spectators applaud until in a few seconds those applauds turned into shouts and cheers.
