Chapter 1 - After The Dark Nights

 Chapter-1

" Here, take this." Yoo Hakim's breath shuddered as he tried as hard as he could to not lose consciousness but he was nothing but a mere mortal bound to die one day or another in front of the inevitable death he was now facing head on.

" You know that I'm going to die soon right ?.... So please just leave me here. I'm not worth taking risk for." He said as he offered the little supplies he had to his companions.

Knowing his fate was sealed he made one last effort to protect those around him by offering them all he had. The world was indeed cruel. It was a miracle he had managed to survive this far.

" Listen here kid ! Stop being pessimistic and get moving. You will not die. Alright? Everything's fine. You will be okay. Just hold on a bit longer." Choi Hyung yelled at Hakim in desperation but with every passing moment it was becoming more and more difficult for him to focus on Hyung's words.

He had lost way to much blood and his wounds was causing him unbearable pain. His eyes were slowly starting to close on their own and he was drifting off to sleep forever.

Either way, Yoo Hakim was glad. Glad that he got another chance in life. He had lived this chance to it's fullest. Even if a lot of things went wrong. From the world falling into eternal destruction to the time when he had just met his parents in this life for the first time. Everything, every moment of his life flashed in his head.

He isn't a person a faith so he doesn't know weather he was going to hell or heaven. But he hoped that he might have somehow managed to replace the horrible things he had done with the countless lives he had saved in this life.

" Yoo Hakim !-" He could sense the desperation in his companion's voice, that was growing weaker with every passing millisecond as he further lost touch with reality.

It had truly been a fun adventure. A bittersweet one. A kind of adventure in which from watching his parents to his companions die in front of him as he struggled to survive in a upside turned world.

"After the Dark Nights, The stars finally shine,

After these restless nights, they finally gleam,

how did they bow to the sun's burning dream?

holding you with a gentle touch,

Their light is a memory, fading as such.

But Soon will they bleed.

Beautiful they are, in their distant flight,

Cursed to glow softly, swallowed by the night.

In the sky they dance, a silent, mournful cry,

Love bound to shadows, destined to die.

O dearest my child,

Shine brighter then those star's light.

Let the truth be told, In a world that's gone cold.

In your hands lies justice, both fierce and bold.

Rise and Shine brighter than those,

the betrayal's that have been forgotten,

Since long shall now be told."

A long lost distant memory surfaced in Hakim's mind. He could hear word's of the serene song crystal clear. He had heard it before. Many times over and over again when growing up as a kid.

A song his beloved mother and father had created. The one they would so lovingly sing to him each night, just like now as he would be wrapped in cozy blankets during dark nights. Trying his best not to fall asleep and enjoy the beautiful stars with his little family.

"In the sky they dance, a silent, mournful cry, Love bound to shadows, destined to die".

As a child he would wonder why they would include such sad topics in a song they said to have written for their lovely son inspired by their lives.

No matter how much Hakim tried to understand them, they would always be weird and difficult for him to understand.

Even as a child, Hakim was not very unfamiliar with the deep topic of death. Afterall, he himself had faced it once already.

"But Soon will they bleed"

His parents would always laugh when he complained about the line being "Too sad" or " feeling forcefully added to the poem".

" Don't worry dear, You'll understand when you grow up." Was with what his mother would reply to him in a gentle tone.

Of course, Even if he was a reincarnation. He never really understood that until he had seen it with his own eyes.

The day when with a heavy heart, he left his home and watched it go down in flames. The haunting image of his father cradling his mother's body in his arms was etched in the back of his mind. Haunting him each night for the next few years that were to come.

How his father, a brave, bold yet gentle and caring man, who Yoo Hakim had always looked up to as a hero, with tears in his eyes pleaded his son to leave them behind to die. Just so that his son could survive.

Yoo Hakim hated himself. He hated himself for what kind of person he was in his past life. For how he so heartlessly left his parents to die alone in the cold night engulfed in warm flames. He hated how utterly useless he was in both his past and current life.

He tried everything he could to change himself in this lifetime. From helping those in need back when the world was still normal to until the last moments of his life till now.

" Goodbye...…." Yoo Hakim managed to mumble one last word to his companion as his body started to grow cold.

He was afraid. Afraid of what was to come now ahead of him. No matter even if he had already once experienced the cold embrace of death. It was still terrifying for him.

"O dearest my child, Shine brighter then those star's light. Let the truth be told, In a world that's gone cold. In your hands lies justice, both fierce and bold." The Time has finally come for you to know the truth.....

Don't be afraid we will be with you in your journey.

My dear son.
