Chapter 98 - Chapter 98: The Staff of Destruction is Stolen

As expected, after enjoying the sights for a while, Saito and Wood were eventually kicked out of the room.

However, compared to Saito, who had to sleep in the hallway, Wood's treatment was much better. Princess Henrietta apologized to Wood and then asked the Magic Academy to prepare a student room for him.

"Damn it! We were both summoned from another world, so why is the treatment so different? Other than having a cute face, Louise has nothing on Henrietta!"

Originally, Henrietta had also asked the Magic Academy to prepare a separate room for Saito out of goodwill. However, her kindness was rejected by Louise, who insisted that disciplining an unruly familiar was also the owner's responsibility.

As Saito shivered in the cold hallway, he was thinking about asking Wood for help. But as he passed by a room, a large fire lizard suddenly dragged him inside.

Kirche Augusta Frederica von Anhalt Zerbst—in this world, it seems that as long as someone has a noble background, their name is always absurdly long.

Just by the length of the name, it was clear that Kirche was also a noble student from a family no less prestigious than Louise's.

Indeed, Kirche, the tan-skinned, fiery-haired girl, was not only tall but also had a striking figure.

If you had to use objects to describe them, Kirche was a cantaloupe, Henrietta was a pineapple, and Louise was, at best, an apple—possibly even an underdeveloped one.

Dragged into the room by the large fire lizard, Saito was initially terrified. However, when Kirche's ample bosom enveloped him, he quickly showed a lecherous grin.

Kirche was the academy's resident seductress. As a noble, she normally wouldn't give a commoner like Saito the time of day. But because Saito was Louise's familiar, Kirche was interested in taking him. The Zerbst family and the Vallière family were longtime rivals, with a tradition of stealing each other's lovers.

Although Saito wasn't Louise's lover, Kirche didn't mind capturing the familiar that Louise had worked so hard to summon.

Due to Henrietta's visit, Louise didn't notice that her familiar was about to be stolen.

"Boom!"

Just as Saito was about to sign a series of one-sided agreements under Kirche's ample bosom, a loud explosion suddenly echoed throughout the entire Magic Academy.

Given that Princess Henrietta of Tristain was currently at the academy, the entire school immediately went on high alert when the commotion occurred.

The academy's headmaster, Osmond, quickly used magic to check the situation across the campus.

When he saw that Henrietta, dressed in her nightgown, was safe, Osmond let out a sigh of relief.

Henrietta was now the sole heir to the throne of Tristain, and she had come to visit the academy without any bodyguards.

Although her guards had offered to accompany her, Henrietta insisted that the Magic Academy, which housed the kingdom's best mages, was the safest place she could be. If it wasn't safe here, then nowhere in the kingdom was.

The royal family's trust in the academy delighted Osmond, but if anything had happened to Henrietta tonight, the academy would have been finished.

"Headmaster Osmond, what's going on?"

The students attending the Tristain Academy of Magic were mostly noble children, and the academy was a place to train the kingdom's elite. Given the situation, it was only natural for Henrietta, the kingdom's heir, to inquire about what was happening.

"It was my negligence. I never expected that the assistant who had been by my side for so long was actually the infamous thief, Fouquet the Crumbling Earth. She attacked the academy's treasure vault and stole the 'Staff of Destruction.'"

As Henrietta hurried over, Osmond used projection magic to show the image of Fouquet attacking the treasure vault.

"The Staff of Destruction? The one that's said to be able to take down a dragon in a single strike?"

Henrietta had heard the legend of the 'Staff of Destruction' but hadn't realized that such a powerful artifact was stored at the academy.

"Yes, the 'Staff of Destruction' was a relic left behind by someone who once saved my life. But for many years, no one has figured out how to use it, so it was kept in the treasure vault."

Though relieved that Henrietta was safe, Osmond was still deeply concerned about the theft of the 'Staff of Destruction.'

Fouquet was a notorious thief who would steal anything as long as the price was right, even if it risked causing conflicts between nations.

The fact that Fouquet had stolen the 'Staff of Destruction,' an artifact no one had been able to use, meant that she either knew how to use it or knew someone who could. Considering the potential dangers of the staff, Osmond was worried that it might be used for something catastrophic.

"The time to assign blame has passed. The priority now is to find Fouquet and recover the stolen staff."

Henrietta shuddered at the thought of the staff's power. If someone used it to strike the royal castle, the consequences would be unimaginable.

"Fouquet is a skilled thief, and she's been infiltrating the academy for years, getting to know the professors and staff. With her cautious nature, she'd flee at the sight of any familiar faces."

"Are you suggesting that since sending the academy's professors might alert her, you're considering sending students to track her down instead? But that's too dangerous! Fouquet is a formidable mage, and the students have only just summoned their familiars."

Henrietta quickly grasped Osmond's implication, but she hesitated, concerned about the danger this plan posed to the students.
