Chapter 8 - In a Minute, All the Packages Should Reach Their Targets, Your Majesty

7 December 1941

Location: The Pacific Ocean, 260 km southeast of Pearl Harbour Naval Base.

Time:0755

"What!? They have the nerve to do that!?" Queen Elizabeth stood up and smashed the table in front of her.

The sudden outburst sent a shockwave through the room. Following Queen Elizabeth's reaction, everyone around her also stood up. Their expression showed a mix of anger and concern. Such an unprovoked attack was unthinkable in an era where diplomacy was key to international relations. Even more so for the Royal Navy where they uphold noble traditions and chivalric codes. The underhanded tactics of the Sakura Empire were a bitter pill to swallow for Royal Navy kansens.

In an instant the tea party transformed into a war council. The previously elegant and composed ladies also changed their demeanor into stern and disciplined as they began composing a plan to get to Pearl quickly and reinforce them.

Meanwhile, Mo stood silently, a sense of foreboding gnawing at her. The news struck a nerve, reminding her of the devastating attack her homeland had once suffered, 'a day that truly lived in infamy'. The fact that she hadn't recognized the significance of today's date when Queen Elizabeth told her earlier gnawed at her, or so she felt it to be. She thought if this world had some parallel events with her homeworld, then the Attack on Pearl Harbour still could be happening. She cursed herself for not warning the others when she had the chance, believing that if she had, they might have been able to mitigate the damage.

But no, I didn't do anything but selfishly focus on my own situation, thought Mo berating herself.

Howe noticed Mo's complicated expression and gently patted Mo's shoulder. Howe asked about Mo's condition worriedly but Mo just shook her head with a sad smile plastered on her face. This sad smile soon changed into a determined look, however.

"Your Majesty, Please! I can help!" Mo declared, stepping forward.

"How?" in just a word, Queen Elizabeth's response was sharp and probing. She knew from the story that Mo came from another world, but beyond her ability to shoot down fast-moving objects called missiles, she knew little of Mo's full capabilities. Furthermore, she had not seen Mo's ship yet and still thought Mo was a fishing boat sized vessel. Therefore, she was curious about what Mo could actually do.

"I can deliver a saturation attack from here," Mo confidently replied.

The room fell into a stunned silence. The claim seemed outlandish, almost impossible, as they talked about an attack from 260 km here, but Mo's determined demeanor gave them pause. Only Howe maintained her composure, while Queen Elizabeth's lips curled into an intrigued smirk.

"Please do so, Monsoor! Show me what you're capable of!" urged Queen Elizabeth with a smirk.

"As you command, Your Majesty. But I need your assistance to inform the base about my plan. I've already acquired possible targets, but I need to confirm the position of the hostiles and friendlies. Also, please inform Kansens fighting near the enemies to move away when they see a meteor shower coming from the southeast," explained Mo.

"Alright, Belfast," ordered Queen Elizabeth. Belfast just nodded and contacted the base right away.

Minutes later, the positions of the attackers were revealed. Just off the harbor, the enemy's vanguard comprised of numerous mass produced siren ships and a huge fox creature, while their backline was at 60 km away from the base.

Mo's advanced radar quickly locked onto them. Enemy vanguards' radar signatures were akin to battleships' and showed there were 78 of them, meanwhile the 'fox creature' was even larger than that. Their backline, however, was made up of four aircraft carriers and several escorts.

Alright, 78 packages of Tomahawk for the Sirens, the last two for two unlucky carriers at the backline, and one Dark Eagle for the fox. They're at the other side of the island so no sea-skimming configuration. I hope Azur Lane girls could retreat in time, the shockwave might be a bit intense, Mo's mind was racing to make sure everything was done correctly.

"Targets locked. Thank you, Your Majesty, it's time," Mo smiled and thanked Queen Elizabeth.

Not long after, a white futuristic-looking ship moved a distance away from the formation. Every kansen in the fleet could see the ship and murmurs began to be directed at the ship. Everyone at the command table was also intrigued by the appearance of such a unique vessel.

"Is that your ship, Miss Monsoor? You said you were a destroyer, but doesn't that look more like an Ironclad?" Asked Warspite as she examined the shape of the ship.

"Yes, and it's more the size of a heavy cruiser than a destroyer," added Queen Elizabeth, her interest piqued.

"That's true, Your Majesty, Lady Warspite. That's also why when I first saw her ship, I didn't believe her to be our rescue target. The reading from radar was very misleading," Howe also muttered as she recalled what happened during the rescue mission.

Mo could only smile a bit looking at their confused expression. She hoped with her intervention she could prevent this world's Pearl Harbour from the destruction that happened to Pearl in her world.

The murmurs from the kansens were stopped when several fires and smoke erupted from Mo's ship. From the smoke, one by one torpedo-like objects rose into the sky accompanied by loud screeches and flew toward the direction of Pearl Harbour.

Mo waited a bit for launching the Dark Eagle, she had to time it perfectly so it would not arrive before the Tomahawks. It would be bad if the sirens teleported away after the first impact.

"So, that's what you call Missile.. How far can it reach, and how fast?" Warspite curiously asked.

"The previous ones could accurately hit a target up to 3000 km away at speeds of 900 km/h, Lady Warspite,"answered Mo.

"That far and at such speed!? Spitfire can't even go that fast! How do you even pinpoint the target?" Warspite contemplated.

"Thanks to my advanced radar, fire control system, and tracking system inside the missile itself. If you want to follow the missile's flight path in real time, I could share my radar and fire control data with you," Mo offered.

Hearing such an interesting proposal, Warspite could not say no.

"Please do," as if had forgotten about her rage toward the Sakuran, Warspite nodded eagerly. Her curiosity was too much when it came to weapons and armaments.

Mo nodded and shared the data.

After receiving the data, Warspite's eyes widened in astonishment. She could see the missiles moving at high speed toward the locked targets. Each and every missile also had its own designated target, so they could efficiently take out the enemy. She then looked around the radar and found that it covered a 480 km radius from their location, that was three times wider than the latest radar system Azur Lane had.

"Because these are cruise missiles, I could also change their trajectory mid-flight like this.." said Mo.

And true to her word, some missiles were changing direction but soon returning to the most optimal trajectory.

"So, hypothetically, if something tried to intercept this missile, you could easily detect it, alter the missile path, and evade it?" Warspite looked at Mo with a bewildered expression.

Mo just replied with a soft smile.

"This technology is preposterous! And you said earlier you could intercept even faster missiles?" Warspite pressed.

"Yes, thanks to my main gun. But for that, I am afraid that you need to wait for another time, Lady Warspite. For now, there is another missile I want to show you," said Mo as she mentally checked the AUR vertical launch system.

Right at 16 minutes after the launching of Tomahawks, the front deck of Mo's ship was seen to flash fire and smoke once again. But this time, a larger missile ascended into the sky and flew much faster than the previous Tomahawks.

"In a minute, all the packages should reach their targets, Your Majesty," said Mo with a pleased tone.

She was somewhat relieved to be able to launch them without problems. Launching 81 missiles in a short period of time was, actually, her personal record. Usually in the past military exercises, she only launched no more than ten missiles in the entire length of the exercise, even those were training rounds.

"3.. 2.. 1.. Impact.. 100% hit rate," Warspite muttered in disbelief.

"Warspite! Is that true!?" Queen Elizabeth was grinning from ear to ear.

"Yes, your Majesty, all the missiles hit their targets," said Warspite as she subconsciously smiled.

Shortly after, Belfast appeared carrying a telephone set.

"Your Majesty, a radio transmission from Pearl Harbour," Belfast bowed as she presented the phone to Queen Elizabeth.

Queen Elizabeth quickly picked up the phone, "This is Queen Elizabeth speaking."

[Your Majesty! This is HMS London from Pearl Harbour. I want to inform you that the enemy is retreating!!]
