When I removed the mask from his face, I saw that his eyes were open. His eyes and the part of his face hidden under the mask was black. Like it was starting to rot.
-What the hell?!
I got goosebumps all over my body. He had a pulse, but he wasn't breathing. I tried to wake him up, but he was still lying there.
After a few minutes, I checked his pulse again... I think he's dead. There were no signs of life. When I examined his body, I found a piece of cloth that said "Ari" and a red cape. Apparently Ari was his name and the cape was wrapped around his stomach for some reason. I took the cloth and the cape. After burying him, I went forward wherever I could see. The fact that this man named Ari was here means there are more people.
-Rest in peace, Ari!
But I still had questions. How did his head rot in three days? Why was he alone?
Maybe I'll never know what happened to him.
-Well, that's none of my business.
All I have to do is move on.
47 days later.
The red cape proved to be good sun protection. When I put it on, it didn't burn anymore.
Sixty-six days had passed since I'd entered this desert. Physically, I was not getting sick. Apparently the monsters are very nutritious.
But I was getting sick mentally. Seeing and eating the same thing for two months....
-Top, top...
-!?
-Really!?
