[Chapter 560: The Stray Dog]
William White's IMAX movie genuinely shocked George W. Bush. In his view, if it weren't so expensive, it might actually be worth the investment.
"Hey, William, I want to check out your dinosaur island. I mean that there aren't actually any dinosaurs there, right?"
"What are you thinking? It's just an amusement park. They haven't fully opened it yet to keep an air of mystery."
"How many people are there now? When can we set off?"
"Five thousand. We've got the people, but they can't be cannon fodder. We're just a security company. If the big guy really loses it, we'll strategically retreat."
"Come on, if we have to run, do you really have to say it so openly?"
William White didn't take George W. Bush's words to heart. The guy was straightforward; it was better to make things clear in advance.
"It's not going to kick off just yet. I hope Saddam can read the room. This guy is just playing dumb, thinking he won't suffer the consequences while taking advantage of the situation. It's just ridiculous."
"Ha, world number four, huh? I mean, the CIA agents can't really believe that, can they?"
"Ugh, those assessments came from them."
William White felt lost for words. This was just too absurd. It might be somewhat believable if British didn't measure up to the big guy, but if the French couldn't keep up, that was just too laughable.
Iraq's military competence could at most command eighteen thousand troops.
"George, they can't support themselves. Forget heavy artillery; they struggle just to have enough ammo. You're telling me they can stand up to the U.S.?"
George Bush paused; he realized one thing: this war might not have any suspense at all.
"Ugh, right now, what Washington fears most is ground warfare. Also, if they bomb Kuwait into ruins, any future reconstruction will be a nightmare. Not to mention, if casualties are too high, Kuwait's done for."
"Yikes, that's definitely a case of fearing the consequences. I mean, why not just bomb Saddam directly? Cities aren't exactly tropical rainforests. At most, in a month, he'd definitely be finished."
"Whoa, I thought you were a peacenik."
"Ha, solving things as quickly as possible is what leads to peace. Just take a look at this world; how many people die due to war?"
William White's words were sharp, but they were the unvarnished truth. The aftermath of war was far more terrifying than war itself. Hunger, poverty, and appalling hygiene conditions brought disasters that were the scariest demons of all.
...
The current Jurassic Park resembled a military camp more than a park. Watching the bustling airport, George Bush felt dizzy. Good grief, it was all armed soldiers everywhere.
"William, with so many soldiers, are you planning to catch a T. rex?"
"If that thing really existed, two helicopters would be enough. With that many soldiers, you'd only end up with some scraps."
"Your Highness, let's go check out the military camp together."
"Sure, Mr. White, thanks again for your help."
Seeing the desert tycoon in a long robe, it didn't matter who he was; it was safe to call him Your Highness. They had quite an abundance of royal family members.
For those tycoons who managed to escape Saddam's grasp, clinging to American support was the most crucial endeavor. They knew for sure that as long as the Americans backed them, Saddam would eventually get what was coming to him.
Of course, this couldn't be delayed. The aftermath of a hasty escape had many repercussions; if it dragged on too long, there could be changes back home.
You couldn't abandon your troops and people; you couldn't explain that anywhere. If it weren't for the contributions made here, those guys in Washington wouldn't have made it.
In the end, the weakness displayed during this incident was quite embarrassing. They weren't resisting at home but were asking others to help them reclaim their land.
"Mr. White, can I ask if they can wear our uniforms?"
"Of course, if you can provide them. When it comes to reclaiming the territory, having you in the forefront is best. If you happen to have some soldiers left, it'd be ideal for them to join this force."
"Really?"
"Absolutely. We are friends."
"Thank you so much; I will contact them right away."
William White was very kind to his employer. It was only natural to get paid for services rendered.
"Tsk tsk, is it necessary for you to do this? They're already strays. This kind of demand is beyond the contract requirements."
"Let me teach you something; this is called venture capitalism. With our support, what do you think Kuwait's chances are of reclaiming everything?"
"The timeline is uncertain, but they will definitely get it back."
"Exactly. The real worry is the royal family losing power. My view differs from most. In my opinion, Saddam rising to power is not replicable. Their current situation isn't easy either; who's crazy enough to choose a guy like him as the leader?"
"Oh, that opens up some options for reconstruction contracts."
"That's why what you need to do now is provide timely support. These folks' difficulties are only temporary."
"Yeah, I got it. They've been getting a lot of contempt back in Washington lately."
"Tsk, if it weren't for those fools at the CIA, would they be having such bad luck? I don't buy it."
Preparing some uniforms, even in large quantities, wasn't an issue. Their country didn't produce clothing; those things were always imported. Now, all that was needed was to change the delivery address.
