[Chapter 554: A Flourishing Scene]
William White threw his crew and took off, though this wasn't the first time he had done so, it still left his group of misfits looking quite disheveled.
The boss always worked at a breakneck speed when it came to filmmaking. If it weren't for all the other matters on his plate, he could definitely finish a movie in just three months.
William White disliked Hong Kong airport. In his eyes, landing here regularly felt like playing Russian roulette with his life.
Taking off was tolerable, but landing was truly nerve-wracking. The windows on either side of the plane were tightly shut, giving no indication that they would be opened anytime soon.
This wasn't commercial aviation. Whether one liked it or not, the shades had to be pulled up upon landing.
William White believed that time travelers should simply go with the flow and avoid trying to meddle with the fabric of reality. He had a gut feeling that an inexplicable force always nudged the world back to its original course.
At times like this, one should heed fate; otherwise, unspeakable events could occur.
Howard Hughes jumped from a plane and survived because it was a propeller aircraft. Anyone who dared jump from a 747, even with a parachute, wouldn't stand a chance. Alright, maybe such stunts were possible in movies, but in real life, escape pods were just a joke.
William White vividly recalled that custom Boeing didn't have anything that fancy. His proposal had even made the designers faint.
Thinking about these troubling matters made William White a bit annoyed. Damn it, you guys are quite the idle lot. Do you really think this is 1900?
Stupid fools.
The plane finally touched down, and the pilots' skills were top-notch; it was an impressively smooth landing. These highly-paid pilots did not disappoint him.
Hong Kong had developed remarkably; otherwise, there was no way William would be making this trip. He had plenty of work to do, and traveling back and forth wasn't exactly a frequent routine.
"Darling, we're here. Stay with me for a couple of days before we head off to China."
"Are you coming with me?"
"Of course, what if someone else tries to snatch you away?"
"Don't fool me; this isn't Africa."
"Ah, they say beauty brings disaster; you're a real disaster yourself, don't you know?"
Sophie Marceau shot him a glance of disdain and said bitterly, "I haven't seen you lose your wits. With a heart of stone like yours, even if you were a disaster, it wouldn't matter."
William White handed his fashion venture over to this girl; it was clear she was thrilled. After all, who could resist pretty clothes? Building her own brand was far better than being just a mannequin.
Descending the ladder, a round of pleasantries was naturally in order. While the major players of Hong Kong didn't show, their relatives were present.
After a tiring trip, William White graciously declined their hospitality. Of course, he would visit the big bosses the next day; it was all part of the give-and-take.
He could sleep on the plane, but it was far from comfortable compared to being on land. After grabbing a quick bite, he took Sophie into their room.
...
The next morning, William White woke up early. Given that he rarely got enough sleep, sleeping six hours a night was a significant achievement.
The sunrise over the hills was beautiful, and the air was fresh. Add in the stunning ocean view, and it was easy to see why property prices were so outrageous here.
In fact, William's understanding was slightly skewed. The view and clean air weren't the main reasons for the high asking prices; it was the scarcity of land that truly drove them up.
In the past couple of years, land prices in Hong Kong had been on the rise. Because of this, many people managed to escape a disaster.
"Dominic, how's the economy in Hong Kong lately?"
"Good; businesses across the board are making money. Of course, the best profits still come from real estate."
"Great. You're joining me today."
"Sir, are you going to negotiate?"
"It's quite simple; I don't want to get into the real estate game, so they can't compete with me in telecommunications."
