We walk into his office where he handles official state matters. His large table pilled with scrolls and by the left on the wall where books .
Most of them had history on thier pages while others were grimoires, spell books and healing chants.
Modo waited outside while I was with the king who was busy examining his shelf.
He took out one grimoire and a few spell books and handed them to me.
"Here you go son.
Since you have chosen to be a mage of this city you might as well be the best".
Thank you father. I said stretching both arms the recieve the stack of books.
King fengen narrowed his eyes and as confusion spread all over his face. His son had changed.
Harrish never said thank you for anything. Neither did he how to anyone. He would have been suspicious but modo had told the physician that harrish hit his head and the physician reported to him.
Part of the reason he was handing this books to his son. Something to remind him who he was.
I heard about your exam. You made the top score. O am proud of youmy father announced.
You will be leaving for the onstite of the six mages tomorrow. I don't want you here unless you are done with learning.
Even on holidays?
Especially on holidays. Remain there until your graduation. You can go now.
I turn to leave and he adds. Modo will remain here until you get back. No servants in school.
But father!
"Don't raise your voice in my presence!
"You do as I say and that is final!
Harrish felt his legs turn to jelly as the Aura from his father overwhelm him.
He walks out of the office and head straight for his room. It was already night. Harrish sat by the side of the bed. Thinking about what his new life would be like until He fell asleep.
Here in front of the institute of mages. Harrish was standing in a long queue when the first prince Soho and his enturage move to the front of the queue and thier pass was handed to them and they went in.
The queue had been stagnant for hours and his whole body was sore. All the other four princes of dubrier, cheni, Longford and ravengarde had gone in.
Children of the high Lord's were being attended to.
It was noon when the queue started to move and nightfall when prince harrish got to the front of the queue.
He remembered the words of his father the morning before he left home.
"Since you have refused to fight for your birth right. There is no use for it to favour you. You will be treated as a commoner until you learn what you have thrown away."
For Dave this was no punishment. But for the prince whose life had been coated in luxury this would be hell.
My Lord welcome to the institute of mages. The gaurd at the door tried to smile at the tired prince. He felt sorry for him. The gaurd had been watching the prince in the queue with unease. He could not fathom why king Fengen would strip his son of his rights as a prince.
Here at the institute of magic. Those who came from royalty or money were treated better. Given all the best options and equipments. The only exception were those whose magical prowess exceeded normal.
The gaurd was a bit relieved since from what he heard. Prince harrish was the top scorer in the previous tests.
"Hello every one!
"Welcome to the institute of mages.
My name is Halan magian and I will be conducting the final test for you all."
Murmurs filled the room as the examinees were excited to meet Halan magian. He was known through all the six kingdoms as the finest of his age.
All the examinees had heard stories about him. The only mage to facilitate in all the biggest magical battles that have happened over two decades. The six kingdom had changed his last name from Halan maven to Halan magian.
The magian name is only given to those with exceptional abilities and used them for the sake of the six kingdoms.
Halan's voice spread through the room quieting the examinees as he spoke.
"You all should enter the door in front of you. Drop your bags and leave your servants behind. Go in and face your destinies!
The double door stood in front of the examinees flung open and they beheld a passage. Dark and inviting.
Prince harrish was the first to walk towards it.
His legs were weak not out of fear but exhaustion from standing.
Whatever is in this passage would not harm him. It was an exam not a war field he thought to himself. No one would place the royals or highborns in harm's way he thought to himself.
As he stepped into the passage. The rest quickly followed in his footsteps. Halan was impressed. He had read the file of every student present and he knew thier capabilities. And he hoped they would band together and fight.
This was the final test to push out thier skills.
The first was to acertain if they had any combat skills. Second was a crystal test to check the amount of magic they could wield and lastly this was the third and final test that would crown them students of magic. The examinees had to survive a week in an open world filled with wild mutated magical beasts. And in this world the danger level of the beasts are not fixed. As the beasts are drawn to the dungeon due to the total magical prowess of all the examinees.
The problem was. This year's batch were not aqquainted yet with one another and the institutes head grand. Master lincold winter's decided to send them in due to time constraints.
A sigh escaped Halan magian as he watched them vanish into the passage one after the other. It brought back memories of his time as an examinee.
He pondered on the experience this lot would have and how many out of the one thousand five. Hundred and thirty would survive.
