Chapter 41 - Ghostly Cries

At this time, the innkeeper yawned again, looking drowsy, but when he saw the group of people with fierce expressions, he quickly covered his mouth.

Lu Saihu gritted his teeth and said, "I'll go get him!"

He waved his hand toward the group.

Seven or eight people rushed up the stairs, but halfway up:

"Ah—"

A cry of pain was heard, and someone fell backward.

One by one, the others stumbled, crying out in agony.

"Thump, thump, thud!"

Screams filled the air as they rolled and crawled down, writhing on the ground.

Lu Saihu, who was behind them, couldn't dodge in time and was knocked down by the people in front, trampled upon. As he grabbed the railing, he was electrocuted, his whole body trembling, eyes rolling back.

The leader stood up in horror and saw that Lu Saihu's hand was on the railing, his head tilted, clothes emitting white smoke, with a sizzling sound, his body convulsing.

"Help him!"

But no one dared to move, each one trembling and speechless.

"Bang!"

Lu Saihu's head fell, and he tumbled down the stairs.

The leader angrily questioned the innkeeper, "What the hell is going on?"

In a corner, Alai observed, chuckling, "Hehe, you're all soaking wet; there's no way you could escape my high-voltage electricity."

The commotion was so loud that everyone in the inn opened their windows, craning their necks to see what was happening.

The innkeeper hurriedly shouted, "Everyone! The security patrol is here for a routine check, it has nothing to do with you, please don't look around or come out, just go back to sleep."

Hu San quickly added, "Everyone, we've discovered a thief hiding in this inn, please don't panic, don't move around, and just go back to sleep!"

At this point, one of the men who had regained consciousness shouted in fear, "The stairs, they're electrified!"

The innkeeper replied indifferently, "Electrified?"

"Aren't the chandeliers in the hall all lit up?"

Everyone looked around.

Someone said, "Yeah, there's no power outage, right?"

Hu San, realizing what was happening, explained to the leader, "That kid installed a hunting trap on the stairs."

"Really?"

The leader, trying to stay calm, said, "So the kid is quite cunning, he knew we were coming?"

Hu San noticed the wires on the stair railing and came up with an idea. He ordered the innkeeper, "Get me some pliers."

The innkeeper, not daring to delay, quickly found some pliers in the kitchen's tool cabinet and handed them to him.

Hu San carefully went up the stairs, cutting the wires one by one, following them to the trap, and then snipping the electrical wire. He cautiously carried the trap and threw it in front of the leader, saying, "This is what that brat used to nearly kill me at the hospital and again at the Lei family cemetery."

Alai, hidden nearby, observed everything clearly, thinking, "So what if you know? Let's see if you can guess what's coming next."

The leader looked at the severely injured Lu Saihu and the others lying on the ground, groaning incessantly, and ordered, "Get some people to take them to the hospital in my car immediately."

After a while, the hall quieted down.

The leader lit a cigarette, puffing smoke as he picked up his phone and tried to make a call, but the other party had already turned off their phone.

Muttering to himself, he analyzed, "Looks like the two people I sent to track him have already been dealt with by that brat, otherwise this wouldn't have happened."

Hu San, eager to please, said, "Now the whole place is surrounded by your men, the kid can't escape, and there's no way he can pull any tricks."

"Act quickly, let's finish this fast!"

Hu San left two men to guard the leader and ordered the others to follow him upstairs to show their skills.

The leader told the two men beside him, "You go too, do you think I need your protection?"

Hu San, leading the charge, came to room 008 and knocked on the door.

"Knock! Knock knock!"

"Come out, or I'll break down the door!" Hu San shouted.

Alai thought, "What are you waiting for? Hurry up and break it down."

Hearing no response, Hu San grabbed a machete from a man beside him and thrust it into the door.

"Ah! Ah! Ah—"

Hu San felt a jolt of electricity course through the machete and into his body, leaving him trembling and speechless.

The men beside him, realizing the situation was dire, immediately ordered everyone to retreat.

The dozen or so men crowded together in the corridor, all holding metal objects. As soon as someone touched the railing, one by one, they were electrocuted, soaking wet from head to toe.

They screamed in agony, stumbling over each other in chaos.

"Bang!"

With a loud crash, the entire corridor railing, along with half the wooden staircase, collapsed.

All of them fell from over three meters high.

"Bang!"

Alai acted swiftly, short-circuiting the entire electrical box, causing a flash and a burst of thick smoke.

The entire inn plunged into darkness, filled with ghostly wails.

Alai, calm and unhurried, slipped to the cellar entrance, half his body inside, head peeking out, holding his breath as he listened and observed, savoring his victory.

After a short while.

A dozen people burst in from outside, using flashlights for lighting, pulling the injured from the rubble.

One man shone a flashlight on the leader, exclaiming in fear, "Boss, your helmet's cracked, and your face is bleeding! Boss, let me take you to the hospital?"

The leader angrily brushed him off, "I'm not dying! I'm not going anywhere!"

He kicked the paralyzed Hu San.

Hu San groaned, "Boss, I'm done for, my legs and arms seem broken, please take me to the hospital."

"Get lost!"

"Get lost! Get lost! Get lost!"

The leader roared in anger.

Two men immediately dragged Hu San out.

Soon after, the dozen or so injured men were all dragged out.

The leader struggled to sit on a three-legged bench, swaying for a moment before steadying himself and regaining his composure.

He ordered one of his men, "Go outside and get more people, open up rooms 007 and 008, and drag everyone inside out!"

Before long, a group of people, each holding a machete, cautiously kicked open the doors along the half-collapsed corridor.

They waved their flashlights, nervously shouting, "Come out!"

"You're surrounded."

"We're the security patrol, come out now!"

There was no response. The men cautiously used their machetes to probe the way, searching the rooms one by one.

They dragged out two men, tightly bound, and brought them before the leader.

The leader ordered the men beside him to remove the towels from the two men's mouths and began questioning them.

After listening, the leader understood, his anger rising as he viciously stomped on one of them, raging, "You useless idiots, tonight's mess is all because of you two! How did I end up with you two worthless fools!"

The two men were kicked and sent rolling on the ground.

One of them suddenly thought of something and shouted, "He has a note, a note, give it to you!"

The leader stopped his foot.

The man, trembling, pulled a small piece of paper from his pocket and shakily handed it to his boss.

The burly man beside him quickly shone a flashlight on it.

The leader slowly opened it, and saw written on it: "As you sow, so shall you reap. Heaven's will is hard to defy!" Signed: Thunder God Tianlai.

"Haha..."

After reading it, the leader let out a wild laugh, "Kid, acting arrogant on my turf, I'll deal with you later. Just you wait and see how I'll deal with you!"

He pocketed the note and said, "Guard every inch of this place, even if I have to dig three feet down, I'll find him."
