Su Chen lowered his head as he noticed a guard approaching, his expression shifting into a frown.
"Mr. Su, you have a visitor," the guard said, prompting Su Chen's frown to deepen.
A visitor other than Uncle Zheng is a surprise, he thought, but he had a feeling he knew who it might be.
He walked toward the visiting area and saw a tall, handsome man seated casually on the visitor's chair. Despite Su Chen's own striking appearance, the man's presence was equally commanding.
Su Chen sighed as he approached the chair, his eyes meeting the man's meaningful blue gaze.
"Never knew your real identity was the Xi Group's heir... Are you proud of yourself for staying in jail for seven years?" the man said, his tone devoid of mercy.
"When did you see her?" Su Chen asked, raising his eyes to meet the piercing blue ones.
"I saw her at an event... She brushed past me without any emotion," the man's eyes flashed with a dangerous energy as he spoke.
"Who asked you to abandon her and go on that so-called mission? Tell me, Mr. Mo Hui, how does it feel to see a girl who once only had eyes for you... ignore you like dirt?" Su Chen retorted, throwing back the mocking words Mo Hui had used about him being in jail.
"Why didn't you reach out to me?" Mo Hui asked, a hint of frustration in his voice.
"Dear friend, my genius sister became lifeless and lost her memory... My parents are in a coma... My uncle has backing that buried the truth from the world... And you were on your secret mission. I had no choice but to take this route," Su Chen replied, his voice carrying the weight of those dark and chilling memories he wished had never happened.
"Now that she's regained her memories... I assume your next hearing will be in your favor, right?" Mo Hui spoke, a mocking smile playing on his lips.
After a brief pause, Su Chen's face grew darker and darker
"When did you…?" Su Chen began, but Mo Hui cut him off.
"She's still playing the part. Relax, trust your sister's IQ and EQ," Mo Hui replied, noticing that Su Chen's expression remained dark.
"So, you're going to just sit there shamelessly while she does all the work?" Mo Hui challenged, staring at Su Chen.
"My sister is more than capable of getting me out of here... and I'm eager to see her cause some trouble. Anyway, you're around to clean up her mess if needed," Su Chen said as he stood up, preparing to leave.
"Nobel Path... You could easily get out of here. Why are you making her handle everything?" Mo Hui asked, a hint of resentment in his voice.
"The longer I stay in, the longer she stays away from you," Su Chen said with a lazy smile, walking toward the door. He waved his hand as he left. "Nice seeing you, buddy," he called as the door closed behind him.
"Boss... Boss, do you want Lawyer Do to—" Fu Lei began, but Mo Hui interrupted him.
"Don't tell me you've forgotten that he's from Nobel Path, too," Mo Hui snapped, effectively silencing Fu Lei.
Of course... stupid brain, Fu Lei cursed himself inwardly.
But to be fair, the tension between these geniuses was on a whole different level. If he weren't Fu Lei, he might not have survived the intensity.
Xi Residence.
"Anyi, carry my laptop and phone with you. We don't have much time; let's go," Su Mei said as she walked towards the door.
"Yes, Boss," Cu Anyi replied, packing everything in a bag and following her out.
As they walked downstairs, they saw a brother and sister walking towards the door while Qu Rui was waving them goodbye.
"Sister Meimei, do you want me to drop you?" Xi Yuan offered, though it was clear she didn't have the slightest intention of doing so.
"Ah Yuan ah, you're already busy dealing with the Xi Group for her. I don't think Xiao Mei is so shameless as to ask you to drop her," Qu Rui interjected, and the siblings gave a mocking smile.
This had happened many times, and Su Mei had always remained silent—because she had lost her memories. But one thing they forgot was that this Su Mei had been rottenly spoiled by her parents, brother, and even Mo Hui, for that matter. So, if one could be said to be bad, she could be worse.
So, before the trio could smile and move on as they usually did, Su Mei said:
"Then I thank Sister for giving back my Bugatti. Uncle Zheng, please help me collect the keys from Sister Yuan," Su Mei said nonchalantly as she walked towards the dining room, leaving everyone speechless in the middle of the hallway.
Uncle Zheng sighed as he walked towards Xi Yuan, while Cu Anyi did her best to control her smile in front of them.
"Car keys, please, Ms. Xi Yuan," Butler Zheng said, extending his hand towards her.
Xi Yuan felt like coughing blood. How could she give it up so easily? This was one of the top cars available in Y Country at the moment. She still remembered how much she wanted this car when she first saw it, while Su Tian had gifted it to Su Mei before her 19th birthday and that accident.
She hesitated while she stared at her mom, pleading for help.
"What? My car? Your car? Xiao Mei ah, can't you let your sister use that car? Anyway, you're not helping with the company's growth and are just lazily going around," Qu Rui said, gritting her teeth.
"Oh... that's because I thought I could trust the servant with work, as I am the owner anyway... and I'm paying them to make profits for me, right?" Su Mei replied, making the trio almost cough blood.
Cu Anyi now understood what the saying "Words can cut you deeper" meant, especially in this situation.
Damn, Uncle Zheng was right, Cu Anyi thought, trying her best to control her laughter.
"You... you... Xiao Mei, how can you call us servants?" Qu Rui's blood was boiling.
"Aunty Rui, I wouldn't dare to... but I was merely telling you the truth," Su Mei shrugged as she sat at the dining table.
Qu Rui's bit of patience ran out as she walked over and tightly grabbed Su Mei's hand.
"That's it... Xiao Mei, I didn't want to do this, but you have to enter the dark room and repent again," Qu Rui said, starting to drag Su Mei.
Su Mei skillfully twisted Qu Rui's hand in a way that loosened the strong grip, causing Qu Rui to fall forward, flat on the floor.
"Madam... Madam! Oh no, please call an ambulance!" Ah Po, who had been silent all along, walked over and created a scene.
"Aunty, maybe you should visit a doctor and repent for your actions first," Su Mei said, turning to look at Xi Yuan with a meaningful glare.
Xi Yuan clenched her left fist as she handed the keys to Butler Zheng.
"Then I thank Sister Yuan for taking care of it so well," Su Mei said emotionlessly, signaling Cu Anyi to come and sit for breakfast, leaving Qu Rui on the floor in pain as Ah Po made a fuss.
"Son... please take me to the hospital... I think my nose is broken," Qu Rui's weeping voice came, leaving the four of them no choice but to take her to the hospital to get her nose treated so it wouldn't be disfigured.
