However, Zoe Anna was going crazy. She was in her agent's office, which was a mess. She smashed all the things she could; glasses were scattered, books and papers were thrown. She was not at all acting like a star, with her eyes being red and her hair being out of place. She was outraged.
"Why? Why would this happen? I had the part, and I don't understand?" Zoe screamed and threw another vase on the ground. The agent knew that she was in a bad mood and didn't dare to comfort her.
She only tried to persuade her gently. "Zoe, the Universe Entertainment has decided, we can't change it." Zoe clenched her fists with both hands and shivered violently with anger.
Zoe had slept with the director of Universe Entertainment many times. The fatty had promised her the supporting actress. Besides, the makeup photos had been released. How could she become a minor supporting actress?
However, the Universe Entertainment was determined by their decision. It seems that if she were not willing to accept the option, she would be kicked out of the star line-up. They didn't even care about the penalty.
"What did Mr. Richards say?" She asked her agent with faint hope. Speaking of the fatty, Mr. Richards, Zoe, felt sick instantly. She recalled how hard she had tried to bare his weight on her skinny body. He had promised that she had the part, but now he ate his words.
"Mr. Richards said he's unable to change the decision, which was made by the top. He could only help you strive for the minor one." Her agent responded cautiously. "Zoe, take it. It's a big production anyway. It's hard to get in, and even though it's a little part. Don't miss it, you'll regret it. Do you know how many stars are waiting for it?" Her agent offered.
But how could it be the same, the supporting actress and the minor? In the White-Love Song, the number one supporting female role was a lovely and confident character. The number two supporting female roles were of a cruel, ruthless bitch.
She had been acting this kind of parts for years. She had been planning to shake off her 'bitch' image through this drama, and then she would get the chance to be a leading actress in the future.
If she wanted to play the role of rotten eggs, she didn't need to bribe Mr. Richard with sex.
Her agent thought of something and reminded her. "Zoe, I feel that it seemed to aim at you. Have you offended anyone recently? You have taken the makeup photos, which means it's done. It's unusual to change an actress one week before the shooting." Zoe calmed down and thought about it seriously.
However, she was bossy and arrogant all the time. The people she offended were not just a few. How pathetic that she had no clue at all. "Who is she?" she asked.
"Well, I forgot to ask while I was on the phone. I'll talk to the crew." The agent quickly sent a message on her phone, and two minutes later, she looked up in puzzlement. "Edie Lara?
Who's she? I've never heard of her," but her expression turned from puzzlement to hatred as she was talking, seemingly she recalled who she was. "Zoe, is she? Does she want to take
revenge on you?"
Zoe's face twisted in anger, her teeth clattered. The hundred thousand dollars had been enough to humiliate her. How dare she to provoke her again. Zoe had been in the entertainment industry for almost ten years. She had seen a lot, but this was the first time her role was robbed. "Edie? I underestimated her."
The assistant recalled what had happened between Zoe and Edie. She inquired cautiously, "Zoe, what shall we do?" Zoe fixed her hair and gave out a contemptuous sneer. "If she thinks she will win? Then, she's wrong. She'll see."
"But, Zoe, what are we going to do now?"
"The Korean screenwriter is a hard-head. She has told me that I'm the right person for Susan Wilson. I don't believe she would just stand by and let this happen. Give me my phone, and I'll ask her out for dinner tonight." A cunning smile revealed on her sad face.
Kim Hue-Kung, the famous South Korean screenwriter who was specially invited, flew into a rage when she was informed of the change of the actress. However, the producer couldn't understand what she said and could only look at the translator.
"Mrs. Hue-kung said you showed no respect for her because you didn't discuss with her about the change. The White Love Song is her hard work. She can't tolerate your black-box trading, which will ruin her work." The translator said.
Thinking about Mrs. Hue-kung's expression, the translator must have made it sound much more pleasant. The producer could only be patient and smile. "Mrs. Hue-kung, she's just a supporting actress, which will have not much influence on this drama. The leading actors and actresses don t have any changes."
The translator told Mrs. Hue-kung what the producer said, she instantly shouted. "Mrs. Hue-kung said, you... you don't understand. Everyone is important. A tiny change will affect the integrity of the drama."
Mrs. Hue-kung scolded her, and the translator almost translated out the F-word. "But, Mrs. Hue-kung, the new supporting actress, will help us add an extra billion dollars investment. Don't you think it's good to have more funds?"
Mrs. Hue-kung's expression froze after she heard the translation. She didn't expect the new one could bring in so much investment. She hesitated and then shoved it aside since she recalled that Zoe was crying to her on the phone. Most importantly, she quite recognized Zoe's acting skills.
"Mrs. Hue-kung said if you insist on replacing Zoe with another actress, she will regain the copyright and cut off the cooperation with the Universe Entertainment." The producer and the director Wilfred Lane gave each other a thoughtful look confirming that Mrs. Hue-kung was actually saying that.
Director Lane pretended to mediate between the two parties.
"How about this, you can decide after you see her. She will come in today for the makeup photos. If you really think she's not the one. We can discuss it later." Although he was not on her side, at least he gave her options. Mrs. Hue-kung hesitated for a moment, seeing that Director Lane gave in and then nodded with reluctance.
The producer became anxious. He pulled the director over and asked without lowering his voice.
"Director Lane, this is an order directly from the top. I don't even have the right to reject. She is stubborn, but why don't you agree with her?"
"What else can we do? She has the copyright, okay? If she refuses to work with us, we can't force her. Besides, I've seen lots of people bring in capital. One hundred million is the first time.
If it were not because of her poor acting skills, she doesn't have to invest. If you want to find a replacement for Susan Wilson and ruin my drama, I would rather not do it."
Director Lane had been ranked as the top one or two in this industry for the past twenty years. Of course, he paid more attention to his work than interests. If this drama ruined his reputation and his status, he would really refuse to direct this one for sure.
Finding that both of them were not agreeing with him, the producer felt like a cat on a hot tin roof. He had expected that the extra fund was smooth and exciting. Now he couldn't offend both sides, Mrs. Hue-kung, Director Lane and the Universe Entertainment.
Otherwise, the drama would die for sure. "Director Lane, we have to discuss again..." A sudden knock fell on their door.
"Director, Edie Lara has arrived."
