Edie went straight to her room. She entered the bathroom and opened the shower, and it was not until the water had rained down on her that her racing heartbeat calmed down.
In fact, his being gay could be a good thing for her; that way, he wouldn't be interested in her or her body. Is there a safer guarantee than that? How could two people be together if they have a different sexual preference?
The reason why Stuart acted so sweet towards her was that he was gay. Isn't it great to have such a lovely roommate?
Therefore, why did she run away?
Even if Stuart is gay, he is not a cannibal. Danny is gay, and she got along with him just fine. Edie had finally convinced herself to accept the truth. She turned the shower off as her body sensed a chill; it was then she noticed that she had forgotten her clothes. She opened the door and saw Stuart sitting on her bed!
Edie had utterly forgotten about how she convinced herself just then; she shivered and wanted to go back. Stuart's glance was terrifying, and she had seen this glance before, it was the first time they had ever met. The glance was piercingly cold, Edie stopped as if she had been nailed to the ground.
Edie calmed her mind and recalled that Stuart doesn't like women at all, even if she took all her clothes off, it would be of no attraction to him. Edie forced a smile, "What is the matter?" Stuart did not speak; his eyes stopped on her face for a moment and slowly moved down.
Her hair was tied back, which made her neck look long and slim. A few strands of hair fell beside her cheek, how alluring.
Above the towel, her shoulder and her delicate cleavage could still be seen, and her pale, clean skin was a little red from bathing, a drop of water slid down her neck, into the curvature of the towel and disappeared. He swallowed, breathing faster than usual.
He recalled that night and the touch of her delicate, smooth skin, and it was a shame that he didn't have a proper look at it.
Now, she is only a meter away from him if he could just get the courage to reach his hand and rip the towel off....
The flame within his body was getting hotter and hotter. He felt as if though he was going to lose control. He wanted to get on top of her and kiss her lips passionately. "Stuart?" Edie asked again since he didn't react, "What's the matter?"
Stuart "woke up," and then he came back and tried not to think about Edie. He moved his eyes away from her and asked flatly,
"What are you wearing, don't you have any other clothes to wear?" His voice was as cold as ice, and there was even a sense of anger in his voice.
Edie's heart missed a beat. As expected, Stuart hated looking at a woman's body, and he must have detested her. She quickly explained, "I forgot to bring my clothes with me into the bathroom, and I didn't expect you to be here."
She complained a little inside. He was the one entering without permission, and now he is angry. "Put your clothes on." Edie took her nightgown and went back into the bathroom in a hurry and carefully walked out. Her deer-like eyes blinked as she said, "you can't find faults in me now, can you?"
Stuart glanced at her quickly and found out even if she had her clothes on, and her beautiful eyes were enough to flame up to his desire. This time, he merely grabbed her arm and pushed her back into the bathroom.
Edie was stunned by his actions and heard him say, "Just stay in there. I will leave as soon as I finish talking to you." Edie blinked in confusion. He is avoiding her even if she has her clothes on? Or is it just because she is a woman? As expected, gays are hard to please.
Edie twitched her mouth, but still said in a low toned voice,
"Sure." "Why did you come back so late?" "The company arranged an audition for me, and I went to Danny's office to get my script. After work, I had dinner with my friend. The roommate I used to live with, remember? I told you about her," remembering her conversation with Aaron.
"What did you two talk about?" he asked. "I told her about our marriage, don't worry, she wouldn't tell anyone. I had to explain why I'm moving." There was silence. Time had passed, and Edie's legs were starting to get sore, then she heard,
"What audition?"
Edie was startled. Is he trying to make a conversation with her? Though she told him the name of the T.V. series, Knight-errant despite her query. Stuart lapsed into silence again. The conversation was tormenting for Edie, but for some unknown reason, it seemed that Stuart didn't want to end it.
Stuart opened his mouth after a long time, "okay, good night." She heard his steady footsteps and then the sound of him closing the door. The room lapsed into silence again. The mansion had excellent sound resistance, and no sound could be heard from his room even if he slept just next door.
Edie walked out of the bathroom, thought for a second, and opened her laptop. She went on a bookselling website and typed the word gay. There were hundreds of related books.
Homosexual Subculture, Homosexual Psychology, Homosexual Study... Edie added all of them into the cart and clicked purchase. Having done all of that, Edie fell into her bed.
Being gay seemed to be so difficult to deal with, and she had to do some research. Wasn't there a saying? You could win a hundred battles if you knew both your enemy and yourself.
Waking up the next morning, Edie stalled in her room for a long time because she didn't want to see Stuart. Edie went downstairs, and she sighed out of relief as Mr. Sampson told her that Stuart had already left. She then had breakfast alone.
What Edie didn't expect was that for the following three days, she didn't see Stuart at all.
It was not until the third night that she had finally asked Mr.
Sampson about Stuart while having dinner. "Yes, Mrs. Yates, Master Yates, had gone on a business trip to Hong Kong." Edie nodded, for some unknown reason, she felt a sense of loss.
She wanted to ask when was he coming back, but didn't because she was a little embarrassed. Mr. Sampson surmised Edie's thoughts and asked, "Master Yates will come back after he sorts everything out, but there is no exact date." Edie had no choice but to nod her head.
Edie thought she would feel more at ease if he is not in the house; however, eating alone was incredibly lonely. This was her third time inviting Mr. Sampson to come in, "sit down and eat with me; I won't be able to finish all this by myself."
This was also Mr. Sampson's third time refusing, "Mrs. Yates, this is against the rules." How annoying is it to eat alone? Her appetite was ruined entirely, and this was the only moment she missed Stuart a little.
Mr. Sampson smiled meaningfully within. Newly-married couples are so sweet. He discretely sent a message to Stuart while taking a break, "Master Yates, Mrs. Yates is well; she misses you very much."
Stuart was in his office when his phone vibrated all of a sudden. His cold, sharp eyes looked down, seeing the words on the screen, his eyes softened. He lightly lifted the corner of his mouth and instructed Mr. Bates, "Stop the negotiation, give away three points to Z.L.G. and sign the contract tomorrow.
Book me the earliest flight back to the city." Mr. Bates froze.
Three points, that's a total of thirty million dollars! Master Yates never yields in a negotiation, what has convinced him so quickly? Is there a critical situation at home? Mr. Bates was concerned; he guessed a significant event might have happened in the company so that Master Yates had to rush back in such a hurry. He would have never imagined, and all this happened just because of a text message.
