Sevastian stared at her for a few seconds before answering, "That is a wild generalization Princess, I do believe you are judging dragons just based on what you have been made to believe of them."
"You might be right, but I have met a couple of dragons and they do not beat allegations Lord Sevastian," she replied.
"Would you be kind enough to give me directions to the library?" He changed the direction of the conversation, clearly not interested in going back and forth about dragons with a princess who clearly had sealed her mind about them.
A small smile tugged on her lips, "I will take you there. I would not want my brother to make a fuss about my refusal to help his guest." She stated, turning her back and walking away.
Sevastian trailed behind her, doing his best to avoid looking at her as she moved, the shape of her legs and hips visible through the white dress. The library was not far from where they stood.
Lyra gestured to Sevastian allowing his entrance into the library before she followed behind him. Sevastian whose eyes scanned the entirety of the room was quite surprised, the room was filled with shelves which was packed with different books.
Books covered the shelves from floor to ceiling, with a huge chandelier hanging above. Small, crafted wooden chairs and tables were neatly arranged in one corner of the library
"We have over five thousand books here. Books about different creatures and kingdoms. Including Valeria, I do wonder why my father decides to get books about dragons when he hates them." Lyra said, walking around him to stand in front of him.
"It is a beautiful library," Sevastian replied, his feet making way to one of the shelf.
"It is, tell me Lord Sevastian? What kind of book do you want to read? History? Romance novels?" Lyra teased, but received no response from Sevastian.
"Yes history, I wish to read about fae and magic. The white and black magic." He finally turned to face her.
"Magic? Why are you interested in magic?" Her eyes narrowed at him.
"Just curious. I would love to know more about black magic and what type of faes can wield it?" He replied, keeping a flat tone.
"Hmm," her eyes watched him intensely again trying for the one millionth time to read him. "There are indeed a type of faes that can wield black magic, but they are a minority." Lyra explained.
"And would you be kind enough to tell me who the minority is?" He inquired.
Lyra pressed her lips in a thin line, hesitating with her words. "I can show you," she made her way towards two different shelves, her fingers trailing the books before stopping at a particular book. Lyra pulled the black book out of the shelf and walked back to where Sevastian stood.
"This is an ancient book gifted to my father by his grandfather, it mentions in detail about the black magic and spells." Lyra began to flip through the pages, eyes scanning the words trying to search for what she was looking for.
"Here," she pointed to a paragraph at middle of the book which was lying on the table. Sevastian had to lean in forward to get a good view of the page because the letters were incredibly small.
'Having access to any form of power can bring good in the right hands, but it becomes extremely dangerous when wielded by the wrong people. That is why only a few chosen individuals were gifted with the ability to wield such power.
Among these were the royals, a special group called the 'Rynis,' who existed long before the dawn of time. Said to be chosen and blessed by the goddess herself, they were revered as the sacred people of light. Yet, over time, the Rynis sought power and control, causing widespread chaos.
The goddess grew displeased with their rebellion, stripping most of them of their powers and scattering them across the lands. This purge killed many, while the few survivors mated with other species, diluting their magic completely.
However, rumors persist that a few Rynis still live in hiding, ruthless and highly dangerous. Though none have been seen in over six centuries, the fear of the Rynis still lingers in the hearts of all creatures."
They both stood in silence digesting the information they had just read about, "Did you know about the Rynis?" Sevastian asked her.'
"Yes I do, all I know i what I have read and heard from father. He does not really like to talk about it, and he also believes they are in exile and would not dare to come out." Lyra explained, closing the book and strengthening her back.
The princess stood too close to him that he could smell her and she smelt like jasmine...and something forbidden. Sevastian respectfully took a step back, giving them an appropriate amount of space.
He was certain the Princess noticed his action as she narrowed her eyes again at him, giving him a look of suspicion. "I will like to read all the books on black magic and the Rynis." His tone remained calm and collected.
"Very well, I will have a servant bring it to your room in a few minutes." Lyra replied, still watching Sevastian.
"Thank you for your kindness Princess, I would love to return to my room and release you from having to attend to my needs, do have a lovely night." He gave her a small bow before turning around, and striding out of the room. Even without looking back, he could feel her gaze burning a hole in his back.
Lyra stared at the place where Sevastian stood even though he was long gone, the fact that she could not see through his stoic face and flat eyes made her extremely irritated and annoyed. She was definitely going to crack his facade one way or the other, Lyra promised herself.
