Max exchanged a quick glance with Mike. They moved silently towards the guards, taking advantage of their distraction. Max targeted the first guard, his silenced pistol taking him out with a single shot. Mike handled the second, approaching from behind and dispatching him with a knife to the throat.
Downstairs, Jared and Rob moved through the corridor, encountering another guard patrolling near the dining hall. Jared took the lead, neutralizing the guard with a precise knife strike, while Rob stood watch. They dragged the body to a nearby storage closet.
Max and Mike continued their sweep, finding another guard at the top of the stairs, nervously scanning the hall. Max quickly dispatched him with another silenced shot. Mike then moved to secure the final guard, who was stationed outside the master's office. As Mike approached, the guard turned and saw him, but a swift strike ended his life before he could raise an alarm.
The team regrouped in the hallway, checking their surroundings for any signs of additional threats. The mansion was eerily quiet, the silence only broken by their whispered communication.
"Five down, and the area is secure," Max said to his teammates. "Let's go and find the official family members of this family and kill them, the remaining

[On the other side.]
The other team, which consisted of 14 people, walked through the second floor of the mansion. The eerie silence was broken only by the soft footsteps of Jacob and his remaining team as they continuously moved stealthily through the grand corridor.
The fancy decorations inside the mansion, which used to show off its power, now looked completely out of place with all the bloodshed that had been ongoing.
"We need to finish this quickly. The remaining guards should be somewhere around here," Jacob said, his face expressionless and serious as he gestured for his team to move.
The team that used to be 15, now reduced to 13 after the loss of one member, moved, their senses on high alert with a sense of urgency to finish it quickly. They walked through the hallway, their eyes scanning the area near them for any signs of the remaining bodyguards as the air was filled with thick tension.
And as they rounded a corner, they finally spotted the five bodyguards, running out of the hallway, as they ran toward their side. They had that nervous, scared look on their faces.
Who wouldn't be? After getting news that all the other 25 bodyguards out of 30 were killed in no more than 15 minutes.
But suddenly, they all stopped in their tracks, their expressions froze as fear took over their bodies, as they spotted the mercenaries who were walking toward them, their expressions cold with a bit of blood here and there on their bodies.
"W-what!" he stammered, his words stuttering.
But before they could do anything, Jacob and his team rushed toward them, springing into action. They moved so fast, quickly and decisively. Jacob and Rob took, the teammates of Jacob took out their suppressed pistols as they shot two people, taking out them as they fell to the ground, much to the horror of the other three bodyguards.
They hurriedly tried to take their weapons, but Mike tackled one of the bodyguards while the other two successfully took out their pistols.
And as they were about to pull the trigger, two mercenaries from Jacob's side sprung into action as they also tackled them, making all three bodyguards fall to the ground, their weapons flying backwards from the force that they applied.
As Mike, Jacob and Rob took aim with the suppressed pistols, at their heads, the three bodyguards got onto their knees, starting to beg for mercy.
"Please, spare us," one of the bodyguards said, his expression that of fear.
"We have families to feed back at home," another one said, his face that of horror as he saw his death just by the aimed pistols.
"That's too bad, you made your choice and now it's time for you to face the consequences of your choice," Jacob coldly said as they all pulled the trigger, the bullets going through their heads as they fell to the cold ground one by one, as blood leaked out of their dead bodies, it spread across the luxury hallway that was once filled with decoration, now it was filled with blood and the dead bodies of the bodyguards.

After killing off all the bodyguards, they then made their way to the lower floor, to the main hallway where they met the other group of three mercenaries who were also there.
"We lost two of our people on our side," Max, the leader of the other group, said, his tone heavy as he wiped off the blood that was on his forehead.
"And we lost one on our side," Jacob said, his tone deep and heavy, not feeling so good about it as they lost three people whom they knew, and it wasn't a pleasant feeling as they were someone they knew and talked to on a daily basis.
"He died doing his job, at least he tried his best," Jacob said, trying to comfort his other teammates who were really sad about it.
"Since we finished it here, we should report to the boss soon," Max said, trying to divert the topic as it wasn't a pleasant topic he would like to keep talking about.
But as Max said that, his phone buzzed and as soon as he looked at it, he came to know that it was from Ivan.
"You did good, and I'm sorry to hear your loss but let's finish what we started. Spread outside of the mansion and patrol every area while some of you go and talk to the officers outside."
"They seem to have been informed by the neighbours who heard gunshot sounds," Ivan said, his tone cold and indifferent.
"Yes boss, we'll handle it," Max said, his tone serious.

[Outside of the mansion.]
The team moved outside and then started spreading out as instructed. They all got into positions as they watched the police getting out of their cars and then walking toward the three mercenaries who decided to be the ones to deal with them.
"We got reports of gunshot sounds from the neighbours. We would need to check it out," one of the police officers, a middle-aged man with a sceptical expression spoke up, his tone serious and stern.
"It was just a mistake. One of the family members accidentally discharged a licensed pistol that was kept as a decoration. Nothing to worry about, officers," one of the three mercenaries said, his previous serious tone taking a completely opposite tone as he said that with his hand scratching the back of his head.
"Hmm... Alright then," the officer said as he gave him a side-eye but nodded as he turned to his colleagues.
'I doubt something like that happened. I'm pretty sure that they're not even the bodyguards or workers who work for the one living here. I better call the reinforcements before we invade in. These guys seem more like gangsters who're here to rob the rich owners,' the officer thought as he walked away with his colleagues.
After the police walked away, the three mercenaries walked back to their positions, patrolling the area in case of something similar happening.

[Ivan's POV]
'Haha, they sure did their work well... though it's a pity some died but still, great works need some sacrifice so, well, that happens sometimes, nothing to worry about.' I thought as I walked inside through the front gate, a suitcase in my hand which I gave to a mercenary who took it away and then got back to his work of patrolling all the areas.
'Now then... shall I kill some bastards...' I thought as I walked inside the room on the first floor which was typically used by the Vorontsov family's head as his bedroom.
Upon getting inside, I walked straight to the bookshelf that was just beside the full-body mirror at the right corner.
'Hm... Maria did say that there's a book on the left corner of the bookshelf which if pressed, will open up to the hidden passage that leads to the underground floor.' I thought, recalling her words that she said some time ago, back in school.
'Ah here it is,' I thought as I pushed the odd-looking book and as soon as I did, the bookshelf opened itself from the middle part, opening up to a way towards the ground floor.
As I walked inside the ground floor, there was only a straight-line hallway with it leading to a door towards the end.
And as I reached the door, I tried to open it but stopped in my tracks when I heard something from the inside.
"You must be the traitor who brought these bastards, right? Bit*h." A woman said as I could hear a slap sound.
*Slap*
"N-no, I'm not!!" said Maria with a bit of stuttering.
'Oh, some family drama? I should make my entrance now, haha'
'Ah, I would finally get to see that disgusting expression of yours, Andrei...' I thought as I pushed open the door.
