As the chaos grew closer, they hurriedly left the ruins, desperate for a moment of peace. They aimed for the seaside, hoping it might offer some safety. Boris was clearly worn out, and he begged Icarius to let him rest in a nearby building. Icarius nodded, agreeing to scout the area for threats. The disaster was only 15 minutes away, and time was running out.
When they finally reached the seaside, Icarius let out a sigh of relief. The area seemed calm, far from the danger they had just escaped. As he sat down, he realized he had only 14 minutes left. The distance from the destruction allowed his mind to clear, and he started to think straight again. "I can't just sit here and do nothing," he thought. "I have to save Boris."
Determination filled him, and he decided to use his powers to create a portal and escape with Boris. The idea sparked a rush of adrenaline, and he sprinted back to Boris, his heart racing. "Hang on, Boris. I'm coming!" he thought, his mind focused solely on saving the man who had raised him.
But when Icarius reached the building, his heart stopped. What he saw would haunt him forever. A group of desperate, vicious people had attacked Boris, driven by hunger and greed. They were tearing into him, fighting over the little food and valuables he had. Icarius froze, unable to move, his mind screaming in disbelief. "No... this can't be happening," he thought, his legs giving out beneath him.
After the attackers left, Icarius stumbled to Boris's side, his heart breaking. To his shock, Boris was still alive, though he was barely hanging on. "Boris, I'm here," Icarius whispered, tears streaming down his face. "I'll get us out of here. I'll heal you."
He began to create a portal, but Boris's weak voice stopped him. "I have one minute left, Icarius. Listen," Boris said, his words heavy with finality. "I'm sorry I couldn't protect your mother. She loved you so much and wanted to see you grow up. Take this," he said, handing Icarius a small chain bracelet. "It was hers. Keep it safe. I believe in you, son. You're strong, stronger than you know. You'll survive this. I trust you."
Icarius clutched the bracelet, feeling a wave of emotions crash over him. "I'll make you proud, Boris. I promise," he vowed internally, his heart breaking as he watched Boris's life slip away. "Don't go," Icarius begged, but it was too late. Boris's eyes closed, his smile fading as he took his last breath.
The loss hit Icarius like a physical blow, leaving him gasping for air. He wanted to scream, to cry out against the unfairness of it all, but he knew he couldn't change what had happened. "I have to keep going," he thought, forcing himself to stand. "Boris trusted me. I can't let him down."
With a heavy heart, Icarius left the building and headed back to the seaside. The calmness of the area contrasted sharply with the turmoil inside him. He looked around, searching for a place to create the portal. Glancing at a nearby clock, he saw there were only 10 minutes left before the planet would be destroyed.
"I have to do this," Icarius told himself, focusing all his energy on creating the portal. The city around him was falling apart, with nuclear blasts ravaging everything, but he refused to let it distract him. "I can't fail now. Boris wouldn't want that."
The clock counted down as Icarius worked tirelessly, the devastation around him growing worse. But he didn't stop. Finally, after what felt like an eternity, the portal was ready. The clock hit the final seconds: 4, 3, 2, 1. Without a second thought, Icarius jumped into the portal, disappearing just as the earth was consumed by destruction.
