In the world of Elyria, humans and Elyrians rarely mingled together. Each race lived in its own rhythm, the Elyrians filling the markets in the morning, while most humans conducted their business under the cover of night.
But today was different as both humans and Elyrians were present at the same time, a rare occurrence that stirred a palpable energy among the people. The human consorts, selected to serve as queens' companions, to make a rare public appearance. Though some of these consorts were no longer alive, the sight of those who remained brought excitement to the streets, as people gathered for a glimpse.
Humans mingled amongst themselves, exchanging goods and stories, while the Elyrians conversed with their own kind. The air was thick with the scent of exotic spices, freshly baked bread, and the warm, soft glow of luminescent lanterns displayed by various vendors from each race.
