The following day, Violet wore comfortable clothes while she and her driver headed to Rosette's estate. Violet did not know where that place was located so she had to unfortunately contact Jade.
It already has been approximately 30 minutes since they left the mansion, and Violet was as quiet as ever.
Her personal driver smiled with satisfaction when he realized that the young lady of the estate had been going out quite often lately. As Violet's personal driver, he barely ever got his hands on the wheel since Violet only uses her car once in every blue moon. Considering the lady's habits, he doubts that Violet will ever ask him to drive her to the huge city's street alleys to watch fights or get into fights.
He stepped on the brakes as soon as his eyes met a large pair of golden gates. A family's crest was embedded on the center of the closed gates. This was obviously the place.
"Miss Violet, we're here."
The man turned his head around only to see the young lady Amaryllis with zero strength. It was like her soul was sucked out of her body, her head resting on the back of the car seat seemed like it was going to fall off any moment.
"Yes, yes."
Violet slowly sat up fixing her messy hair with a few strokes of her fingers, her white t-shirt became very wrinkly like a piece of crumpled paper.
"Were you asleep, Miss Violet?"
The driver asked, still with a smile on his face.
"No, I was just…sleeping…"
Violet scratched her cheek gently with a finger while her focus of the conversation disintegrated.
"Well anyway, you're sure this is the place right?"
Asked Violet, leaning her head forward to the car window to see the huge golden gates.
"Yes, that is the Ashbourne's family crest."
The driver pointed at the crest pasted on the gates. At this rate, the guards posted near the gates will start to think suspiciously of the car that suddenly stopped in front of the estate. One of the two guards stepped near the gate and eyed their car with caution.
"I'll just go get Rosette for a second…Also don't tell my parents that I picked up Rosette."
The driver nodded in response as Violet opened the car door. The security guard near the entrance was startled at first seeing a grubbily dressed woman. Her half open eyes and her hands lazily placed inside her trousers's pockets did not help improve the guard's impression on her.
"You."
Violet's figure motioned towards the guard slowly making him flinch lightly.
"T-this is a private property ma'am! You are prohibited from entering unless you are permitted by the lady of the estate!"
'Ah, stupid guard…'
Violet was already getting irritated just by the guard rejecting her entrance. She hasn't even said anything yet, and the guard is already blabbering about the estate's protocols.
Because the guard was busy nervously looking back and forth between Violet and the other nearby guard inside the estate, Violet's voice nearly didn't reach the guard's ears.
"Tell Rosette I'm here to pick her up."
The guard's neck froze in place.
Although his head was facing the estate, his eyes forcibly tried to look at Violet.
"Don't tell me you…You…ARE YOU YOUNG LADY ASHBOURNE'S GIRLFRIEND?!"
Violet only stood there dumbfoundedly after hearing the guard's wail, her face painted with concern.
"...The f*ck is wrong with you?"
She asked, her expression turning into one that wanted to rip the young guard's head off.
"I knew it…No wonder the young lady rejected it when I told her that I'll drive the car for her…She already has someone picking her up…"
The voice of the guard fell into despair and so did the burning flame in his eyes. He cradled himself on the concrete ground and hugged his knees, softly mumbling words that only her can hear and understand. Only did Violet understand the young guard's words.
"I'M F*CKING STRAIGHT!!!"
Violet held her own head violently, gripping her unkempt bed hair tightly. It has been multiple times already that people mistook her for being attracted to women.
"I read books! F*cking books!"
The scene unfolding in front of the estate was starting to scare the other guard. Thankfully, Rosette finally revealed herself, making the chaotic commotion die. The other guard who stayed put and left the task of knowing who the casual stranger was, thanked Rosette internally.
"Young lady Amaryllis, I'm so sorry for being late."
The first thing that left her mouth was an apology, as she should. Although Violet didn't have to wait that long for her, she had to deal with the guard that was worse compared to a psychopath.
"It's alright."
Violet didn't know whether to laugh or cry at this point. The guard stood up from the driveway and stood behind Rosette.
"I-is that your friend, young lady Ashbourne?..."
The guard asked shakily.
"Yes, she is. We're going out today, is something wrong?"
Rosette looked completely naive about the situation. Violet had a hint that she may have heard what she and the guard were shouting about, but Rosette only smiled happily, a strand of confusion on her face.
"No, nothing."
The guard's relieved answer somehow irritated Violet.
Both the atmosphere and the maniacs surrounding Rosette calmed down. Violet took a deep breath, thinking that she may have overreacted to the guard's question. Rosette didn't bother questioning Violet about her appearance anymore.
This was only the second time she had seen Violet but she was already forcing herself to understand her. Violet did pay a visit to Eloise while wearing a sweater and now that she's picking her up while only wearing a plain white t-shirt, Rosette felt she shouldn't question her anymore.
Violet was beautiful, it was a fact that everybody tried to deny because of her actions. If people can't judge you by your appearance, they will judge you by your actions.
"Let's get going."
Rosette nodded to Violet's suggestion and they were about to head inside the car when a group of unsightly thugs cackled like hyenas in the near distance.
One of them was holding a metal pipe. The pipe was running through the metal fences of the estate, making an annoying noise. In Violet's view, the young guard shuddered in fear for a second, sweat beads forming on his forehead.
"Miss Ashbourne, get inside the car."
The grieve tone of the young guard also made Rosette nervous.
"Who are those people?"
Violet asked, tilting her head slightly, her hands casually kept inside her trousers's pockets.
